Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

We now know the nationality, profession, appearance of the girl. The only two pieces of info missing for us to come up with his ideal type is age: whether he prefers girls that are younger, older, or of same age. And personality: quiet or bubbly girl?

^I told ya the Russians are coming. Either it's Kovtun or Voronov. Or maybe Gachinski. Oh wait don't forget the Canadian. Nam is training with Yuzu as well.

:hijacked: You all are adorable.

Personally, I think that reporters should stop specifying the question with "girl", you know. That's awkward and a bit unprofessional.

Newbiespectator, thank you! One more proof he's a fierce challenger. And, Pamina.. take care of yourself, OK? You're irreplaceable.

Googled each of the top 24 ladies in last year's Japanese nationals championship... it's very difficult to find a girl who's nearly as pretty as Yuzu himself...:slink:

Edit: Slightly older - Haruka Imai? she seems cute ^_^
Same age and bubbly - none other than Kana!
Younger - YASUHARA Ayana? Know absolutely nothing about her... she looks cute in http://fskating.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-1211.html

*covers face in shame and runs away...*

Guys come on! Beauty is something that individuals define. Who I think is pretty/cute or handsome isn't necessarily what someone else would think.
He has all these specifications but in the end when he is open to love, love will hit him. I for one am looking forward to seeing that! Shizuka already has a baby!! I can imagine those who followed her since she was a kid having a hard time believing that!

Has it been posted? Voronov and Yuzu congratulates each other: http://i.imgur.com/Dv2NaMN.jpg , http://i.imgur.com/vIV4tnJ.jpg :hb:

ETA : cruzceleste, what I meant is that (IRRC) reporters always specified the gender when they were asking him about his relationships. I think it's not a correct way to do it, no matter who you ask. Do you know what I mean now?
ETA 2: NOW the whole post looks weird.

The way you constructe your original sentences (I must explain my first language isn´t english) looked why you were implying that Yuzuu coulnd´t like a girl

Moderator feel free to erase this and my previous comments if them goes againts the rules of the forum

Because reporters just assume that the man being interviewed is into girls. Therefore, if the interviewee prefers men, it can become awkward.

Yeah I think interviewers shouldn't make the question gender-specific but then again we live in a world where most people assume you're straight unless you deny it.

Meh the thought of Kovtun and Yuzuru makes me shudder (still can't really like Kovtun...)

Eh, heteronormativity isn't the worst sin in the world. The world's moving forward, though, and it'd be nice to hear the reporter ask "so what type of person do you like?" and let the inerwiewee do the rest.

Yea, somehow Kovtun just doesn't cut it.

I am not fond of foreign girls (not very good at appreciating the looks/appearance of foreign ladies).

That's not xenophobic or racist at all...

Shame, because I was really starting to like Yuzuru Hanyu.

In this case 'like' in Japanese has the connotation of 'attracted to' or 'romantically attracted' and therefore is quite different than xenophobia or racism. -A personal preference for Japanese girls is hardly racist.

Lol I can't tell if your being serious or not? Everyone has a type when it comes dating??? Most people around the world only date within their own culture because that's what they're comfortable with lol. :drama:

Edit: Nvm, seems like you are serious

Let’s not forget and considering that he is a machine-gun-talk guy in Japanese but it comes to English, which makes him really pitiful

(though the fact does make my heart a bit tingle due to my poor English skill….)

I'm not quite sure how to take this comment. We are all xenophobic in different degrees, and because of how we were brought up, we also have ethnocentric views. Yuzuru comes from a homogeneous culture, and he's spent most of his life around people who more or less adhere to a similar set of physical traits. Obviously, within that set, he can differentiate and see what can be taken for good looks or not. But those standards don't apply to foreign girls. I don't think this is racist, and he's not even lumping them all in together and stereotyping them. It's just that he's been brought up with a different set of standards.

Like what the people above have said -- Personal preference is hardly tantamount to racism.

I mean, Hanyu cheered loudest for Fernandez and Vornov during the medals ceremony and also right after his SP he stood up and cheered for Vornov who was up next.
--That's not the action of a racist person.
