Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Honestly, I do not hope for to win the world championship Yuzu. Short on time, he will not be in top form. But if he will be from be happy to skate. I will be happy with it. Even if he does not win.:cheer2:

Yuzuru must be in his top form and skates absolutely clean to beat that. Because scores at 4CC, whether inflate, still have some impact at WC I suppose.
But can he get back to his top form in just one month? I have to say it's very very hard.

As long as he skates safely, healthily and to his best, I'll be fine with whatever results. (of course it'd be great if he manage to win his second world's gold medal)

Agree. I only hope that he will enjoy his skate, and stay healthy, hungry for more. Placement is hard to say. Especially when he gets so little time for training.

The score of Denis Ten at 4CC was very high. Actually the performance was great.
IMO, the scores were inflated a bit though.

Does ISU want a rival candidate to Yuzuru?
(Sorry, this is just my personal impression)

I have the same feeling actually and my conspiracy brain already think that it might be nice story if a man of Korean descent won Olympic gold in his ancestor home.

Anyway, all I hope is for Yuzuru to be healthy, happy and enjoy skating.

When I saw Dennis performance I saw scratchy landings and he seemed slower than Yuzu, and I'm wondering why the score is very high. If it is Yuzu I'm sure people will be screaming overmarked :rolleye:

Also it's not certain that his adversaries will be able to repeat such performances... honestly the only thing Yuzuru can do is skating at the best of his current abilities... then even if his results won't be that good because of all the injuries and setback he had this season he will not have anything to recriminate

I also have that feeling.
But we couldn't do anything. ;) it's like taking turn. ISU will not reward Yuzuru a second OGM even if he skates stellar I'd tell you. Of course if he skates well, others skate not so much, they couldn't deny him. But if all skate well, they won't choose Yuzuru. Remember Sochi? Because for sure Yuzuru could hardly get on the podium in Korea where many people would not like any Japanese skater on the podium.
So I only hope that he enjoys this 3 years as much as he can. Stay healthy and joyful is the most important thing.

Yuzuru LP layout BV is 4 pts higher than Denis looking on protocols

I think he knows that himself. At GPF he said the same, at Nationals he said the same. That he only hoped to skate his best with his current abilities and condition. He knows his health condition.

Thanks HanDomi

Yeah, knowing Yuzu he will fight and climb the walls with his nails. I just want him to be rested after Worlds..please please JSF don't make him go on those ice shows

I think the judging in 4cc is generous in both SP and FS. I usually look at how generous the judging is by looking at how easy it is for judges to hand out +3 and +2 GOEs for their top skaters. Based on this, I think 4CC and COC have generous judging (lots of +2 and +3 for good but not outstanding execution), NHK has strict judging (hardly anyone got +3, not even top skaters, and only exceptionally well executed elements got some +2, and most GOEs are between 0 and 1 for everybody), and GPF is between, not too harsh and not too generous (only extremely well executed elements got some +3, and most are between +1 and +2).

I prefer the judging to be not too harsh and not too lenient. Too generous, then the deductions become very insignificant compared to the easy +GOEs. It’s very possible for flawed skates to score higher than clean skates. Too harsh, there will be not enough distinction between, average, good and great skates, because good skates get about the same score, or very close to great skates.

No, I think you are wrong. And what happened in Sochi is not applicable in this case (I don't want to go into detail abt that in an open forum). The major obstacle to Yuzuru winning a second gold is his health, not the ISU. The ISU would more than welcome a Japanese gold medalist in 2018 because Japan is where most of the sponsorship and money from TV rights are coming from.

I know he knows it, we are the one who shouldn't forget it! And we should trust him more (his strength, his determination his talent) instead of worrying if someone is conspiring against him...

I said that nowadays many skaters receive inflations, but only Yuzuru is scrutinized. This is unfair. At least next time, when someone talks about hanyuflation again, I'll use this event as an example to argue (just kidding. My English is too bad to argue with others:drama:).

However, cheer up! Even if Yuzuru doesn't do well at Worlds, it may also be a good thing for him. It's time that JSF realizes they can't mistreat yuzuru and still want him to get gold all the time. I think, JSF should have already learnt a lesson today.

Easy, Yuzuru target is 2018, they know what to do
We can say 4S is not stable, why he sets so much difficult jump layouts for himself, but they are playing long term goal , and that is reasonable

Samsung was the major sponsor at Sochi. And they didn't help Yuna get that 2nd gold despite her making no mistake. Note that I am on the neutral side, whoever might have taken that gold is no concern to me, be it Adelina or Yuna or Caro, since all of them skated so well. They can give that gold to whoever I don't care much. But that leave me something to think.

I know Yuzuru's biggest obstacle is his health, no deny.

But it's more complicated than that, if you're Asian! Live in East Asia... You will understand the nationalism culture here better. I have seen how it was at many Olympic events, for example World Cup 2002, Beijing 2008. Then recently, the Asian game... Koreans might even welcome Russian skaters much better than the Japanese. ;)

I think if all the top contenders at the next Olympic go clean, there's little possibility that they will choose Yuzuru again.

That is for sure! And I believe it's not only your personal impression.

Any way, Ten did really well this time without falls or major mistakes. I don't know if he can do so well again in Shanghai. If he does, I think Yuzuru need to do better than he did in GPF to beat him. However, we will know nothing about how is he before the competition begins. I hope this time it's still a surprise like in GPF.

I think Yuzuru only gets scrutiny from his rival’s fans, but not from the other skaters or commentators. Whereas, for some other skaters that get inflation, they receive scrutiny from other skaters and commentators too. So I think the skating community in general agrees with Yuzuru’s mark, (with the exception of COC, where the commentators also believe he got a little bump).

ETA: I wouldn’t spend time arguing with the fans. Fans have different preferences and I don’t think these fans can be convinced.
