It's indeed true. I also really like the personal touches Yuzuru adds to each program he skates! Each performance he skates has its highlights and it's different every time, of course the 'general' choreography is the same but the special touches he adds 'in the moment' are most impactful. :agree:
Brian Orser did say that before he took Yuzuru on, he never saw the same choreography from Yuzuru twice. [See Yuzuru's R&J1 performances in 2011 GPF and 2012 Worlds.] Brian attributes it to Yuzuru being an "emotional skater." (http://www.skatecanada.ca/2014/03/canadian-coach-brian-orser-creating-champions-toronto/)
Even now under Brian, we can still see how Yuzuru adds his personal touches to his programs as a result of being in the moment. I rather like it because it makes every performance from him seem like new. It is also a testament to his emotional commitment to his programs, making them "speak" to the audience. Simply stated, his skating touches the heart. It's a rare gift. Others may be more polished or have better posture but do not have the same emotional impact.
Re the "flailing arms," Eteri Tutberidze once commented that while Yuzuru's arms look somehow carelessly thrown, it looks so natural when he does it. (http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/ind...-a-good-bet-at-the-team-event-in-sochi.89116/)
For sure, the foregoing does not mean that Yuzuru does no longer need to improve, only that his "flaws" are not as big a liability as some would like them to appear.
" because of his other qualities
Notre Dame was the major example of when it didn't go right because the choice of music was wrong for the type of his skating and he didn't connect with it.
) but they won't put me at the edge of my seat or make me in awe by their lightness like Yuzuru does. I can admire those qualities and see how beautiful and poised those skaters look at the ice, it's something to behold and i'm even a fan of some of them but I won't invest myself too much as I do with Yuzuru. Every viewer has a preference and Yuzuru conquered his fans by his qualities, not his weaknesses.
Poor Nam, they practically had to lift him lol

Sorry if I'm being off topic but here is the small interview Yuzu gave to the French television during the gala. Nelson still has a tendency to cut people mid-sentence to translate into French but I think Yuzu cope with it very well ^^

He certainly is getting better answering questions in English! Guys, I'm really bothered by the blue part of his costume. It looks like it was taken right off the top of a ladies dress. Anybody feel the same? I just don't see the point at all.![]()
Totally a matter of taste though. He certainly is getting better answering questions in English! Guys, I'm really bothered by the blue part of his costume. It looks like it was taken right off the top of a ladies dress. Anybody feel the same? I just don't see the point at all.![]()
I think he could pull off this type of look if it was not for that extra fabric on the back.....blah just no. Very glad that we won't see it again (after WTT)
But the posture thing is unfortunate.I happen to love his Time traveler costume. It's very Yuzu. Flowers are very important in Japanese culture. It doesn't really matter if you are a guy or a girl. In manga culture, even more so. A beautiful guy will be drawn with flowers all around him, just for the effect.Totally a matter of taste though.
I don't like it either. Not because its feminine looking, but because it makes his posture look terrible. That flowy part on his back shoulders just makes his posture look way worst than it actually isI think he could pull off this type of look if it was not for that extra fabric on the back.....blah just no. Very glad that we won't see it again (after WTT)

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who doesn't like his time traveler costume. I don't mind his ex program too much, but I would love to see him perform something more...idk, entertaining? Something like "Change" again? I really miss those kinds of ex from him.

I would love to see that as well, an upbeat FS (choreographed by Jeff!). However, I wonder, you have to really keep it going with lots of energy for an upbeat program (like he did with PW) and Yuzuru still gets very tired in his FS. Would he be able to pull that off without looking moe exhausted by the end of the program than he already does? Sure, no problem in the SP, but the FS is a different monster. Just wondering, if he can do it, it would be amazing. If not, the EX would still be pretty damn awesome, I like his emotional programs, shows how expressive he can be as he is sometimes more focused on the technicals at the competitions, but I miss his inner rockstar (even more so this season w/o PW, Chopin is beautiful but it's a different style).I wish Yuzu would choose a more upbeat EX program like Change too! Or even better, for an FS. We have seen a fun SP from Yuzu already and he played or should I say fit into the character and attitude very well. Plus, I think most people know him more as a rockstar anyways![]()

My worry about an upbeat FS is if the ina bauer will be put in or not!
I like his emotional programs too! But I want him to have more fun and not be so serious all the time! But it will be harder to perform an upbeat program, without losing energy or the crowd... It would be a nice different side to show to him though. Imagine Javi doing Yuzu's programs and Yuzu doing Javi's![]()
