You're right! Esp for his performances in this world's! So many beautiful touches that truly are interesting And creative! Like the ending pose in the sp and lp!! I also love his little spin (or spira? I don't know how to describe it ) at the end of his chopin sp in gpf!

Yes, that's how I feel when I watch him as well! That's why he was the one to make me get into watching figure skating again. His performances didn't feel so schooled, rehearsed (nothing wrong with that either, it's just Yuzuru was different in a good way), I felt that he goes where the moment takes him and I love that!
And ditto Eteri Tutberidze about Yuzuru's arms!

I agree with some of what you guys said, his 'freedom' is his appeal, so I forgive his arms most of the times because i'm too entertained and being "

Talking about choreography, yes the choreographers make the movements but how the skaters execute it is crucial for the performance. Arm movements can look completely different between skaters if the way the bent their arms is different, if they care for the detailed position of the hands, if they have awareness of the music and move accordinly, if they finish the movements and hold the positions for more than a couple of seconds. It's one of the mutiple talents that a figure skater can have. And since Yuzuru was always such a light, fast, emotional and 'at the moment' kind of skater, he's more careless with his arms than other skaters, sometimes it looks 'natural' or fits the music like at PW, which was such a brilliant choice of music in this regard since it didn't require really classical positions, but other times it looks just ... sloppy
Notre Dame was the major example of when it didn't go right because the choice of music was wrong for the type of his skating and he didn't connect with it.
However, this is part of him. I think It's delusional to think that Yuzuru will someday wake up with a flawless posture and ballerina-like extensions. The freedom that he has at the ice is what makes him special. When we watch Yuzuru we can criticize lots of things at his skating but from my personal experience, I can watch peformances from some of the skaters considered the best at posture and arm movements department of the field (some of them I already talked about here
) but they won't put me at the edge of my seat or make me in awe by their lightness like Yuzuru does. I can admire those qualities and see how beautiful and poised those skaters look at the ice, it's something to behold and i'm even a fan of some of them but I won't invest myself too much as I do with Yuzuru. Every viewer has a preference and Yuzuru conquered his fans by his qualities, not his weaknesses.
It doesn't mean though that he shouldn't aspire to better his skating while keeping his 'freedom', it's a constant development and he's on his way. Just like himself said, he wouldn't been able to skate Chopin SP two years ago. Just comparing the step sequence at Cup of China with Worlds performance, we can see that the latter is much more sharp. He should polish his skating to highlight his qualities and minimize his weakness and in this sense Yuzuru + Jeffrey Buttle team is doing a great job, I can't wait for next season

I totally agree about Hanyu's creativity in his choreo. Each time he added little touches to his movements, you know it's because he has confidence and is owning his music. It makes you want to watch them all again so you don't miss any. Other people stick strictly to their choreo, that's fine too. But Hanyu's method is the most exciting to watch.
I do hear that some choreographers, Phillip Mills I think? Don't like it when a skater changes things around. And I can understand that feeling too. As an illustrator who creates products for people, I have made an image 'just so' it is balanced and visually pleasing in the order I have made it. -Sometimes the client will change it around and in my mind it is no longer balanced. -I don't let it bother me too much, but some other artists REALLY HATE it when that happens.

He certainly is getting better answering questions in English! Guys, I'm really bothered by the blue part of his costume. It looks like it was taken right off the top of a ladies dress. Anybody feel the same? I just don't see the point at all.

I happen to love his Time traveler costume. It's very Yuzu. Flowers are very important in Japanese culture. It doesn't really matter if you are a guy or a girl. In manga culture, even more so. A beautiful guy will be drawn with flowers all around him, just for the effect.
Totally a matter of taste though.

I don't like it either. Not because its feminine looking, but because it makes his posture look terrible. That flowy part on his back shoulders just makes his posture look way worst than it actually is
I think he could pull off this type of look if it was not for that extra fabric on the back.....blah just no. Very glad that we won't see it again (after WTT)

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who doesn't like his time traveler costume. I don't mind his ex program too much, but I would love to see him perform something more...idk, entertaining? Something like "Change" again? I really miss those kinds of ex from him.

I love the costume but I just wish it didn't have all the extra fabric and ruffles in front... makes him look like he has boobs so it's a bit odd, though I do like the flowers!

I wish Yuzu would choose a more upbeat EX program like Change too! Or even better, for an FS. We have seen a fun SP from Yuzu already and he played or should I say fit into the character and attitude very well. Plus, I think most people know him more as a rockstar anyways
I would love to see that as well, an upbeat FS (choreographed by Jeff!). However, I wonder, you have to really keep it going with lots of energy for an upbeat program (like he did with PW) and Yuzuru still gets very tired in his FS. Would he be able to pull that off without looking moe exhausted by the end of the program than he already does? Sure, no problem in the SP, but the FS is a different monster. Just wondering, if he can do it, it would be amazing. If not, the EX would still be pretty damn awesome, I like his emotional programs, shows how expressive he can be as he is sometimes more focused on the technicals at the competitions, but I miss his inner rockstar (even more so this season w/o PW, Chopin is beautiful but it's a different style).I wish Yuzu would choose a more upbeat EX program like Change too! Exactly. Something more "fun, upbeat". What kind of audience wouldn't love an ex like that? It's fun and it can really get the crowd going, a kind of atmosphere I'm sure a lot of skaters enjoy being in. Regarding his FP, I don't think he has the stamina to do an upbeat program for 4 minutes and 30 seconds, also not when he has a crazy second half with combos and possibly a third quad. One thing we can get from Yuzuru with this Time Traveler ex is that he enjoys graceful and soft skating, so why not try something like that for his FP next season. I blame Cizeron and Papadakis for this (b/c they brought justice to that FD), but I really enjoyed Mozart's piano concerto no. 23 adagio. I would love to see Yuzuru doing a FP with that kind of classical music. So guys, any predictions on his SP or FP next season? What kind of music genre you think Orser is going to have Yuzuru skate to?

I like his emotional programs too! But I want him to have more fun and not be so serious all the time! But it will be harder to perform an upbeat program, without losing energy or the crowd...
