Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I'm glad about the 4S, and the Biellmann as well. I often complain that he should drop the Biellmann but wow he even improves his Biellmann: https://41.media.tumblr.com/546d8678ea640b5142ea607a3fb75feb/tumblr_nmylejV9tR1t04szwo4_400.jpg

but seriously, 4S, or Bearman is not the most impressive. they are gorgeous of course, what really impressed me is his confidence and command on ice. He really changed, He said that he wanna some heaviness in his skating, I think he did not mean really skating heavy, but the bearing of a real king on ice. I think he really did it this time, as the last skater and on home crowd ice.

truly amazing!

I just keep replaying that 4S over and over  I don't know how to call it even, his 4T is already beatifull, but that 4S feels just "crazy". He explodes literally and travels across rather than straight up

"Yuzu saying thank you to fans waiting outside. He asked them to be safe and not to push." credit Ge Seungbin from fb group.

A video of Yuzu leaving the venue , I think this was tonight because yesterday there was also another video where he took the bus.
Yup, that was from tonight. Typically nice of him to stop for a few moments before leaving. :) At least, the season is over. I hope he'll sleep well tonight so that he can cheer for the girls and pair tomorrow... well, today since it's very early morning in Japan now.

I am, as ever, extremely late to the party, only just finished watching WTT (well, the two first days, anyway), haven't read any message on the forum yet, but wanted to come here first and express my joy at seeing Hanyu skate the way he did in the Free (and, actually in the short, too, that fall was... well... pfft, just very unlucky, I guess).
Had tears in my eyes watching both programs. Those quads, finally! And on home ground. Super happy for him!
Actually had a blast watching the whole of WTT, what a wonderful event to see, with all those skaters cheering on their team mates, all the props they had and stuff, good fun!

I'm doing exactly the same!! I feel like his 4T (usually) is really smooth and easy, but his 4S is HUGE like it comes out of nowhere. I'm so proud that he could improve it to this point, because I really love it!

Yuzuru, the best as always. I am very happy for his performances. Please tell me where did you watch WTT?

I don't understand the Zayak rule. Please tell me ! :)

The Zayak rule states that you can't do more than 2 of any jump in a FP. Not only that but only a total of 2 types of quads or triples can't be don more than twice. Because Yuzuru's original layout was supposed to have a 4T and later on, a 3A-3T However, he popped the 4T and it became a 3T. So he's very good at making quick judgements when that happens. He did a 3A-2T because if he did a 3A-3T, a 3Lz-2T, 3A-1Lo-3S and then a 3Lz, he would have zayaked because there would have been 3 triples that would have been repeated: 3T, 3Lz, and 3A. By changing the 3A-3T into a 3A-2T, he avoided Zayaking because only the 3A and the 3Lz was repeated.

Wow, your prediction is correct!

Well he did say that the success rate of his 4S was actually higher than his 4T these days in practice, and I feel now that the only thing that prevents him from doing the 4S in competition is a mental block. On the other hand his 4T has given him problems after his operation + the sprain ankle, so it didn't feel as consistent and reliable. And when I saw him nail the 4S during the warm up I knew it would be ok :)

I've also come to think that the mistakes on the 4S were mental. And maybe the fact that his 4T, one of his point makers along with the 3A, started failing, kind of made that mental block on the salchow go. Because he couldn't rely on his 4T, he focused on that more than on the 4S and it was performed effortlessly because of it. Kind of like the quads changed places in his mentality. Hopefully he can get his 4T back in the off season. :agree:

Am I evil that I hope that rocket 4S will become his main quad in next years over 4T ? :laugh2:
