Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I like this WTT FS more than all his other FS performances combined. He held on to the technical as always, but it's great to see him connect with the music with all that raw passion from his choreography (his arm movements and posture has improved and is now more appealing to look at). Great job, Yuzuru!

My ranking of his performances (mainly based on the execution quality):
SP: National>WC>GPF>WTT>COC>NHK
LP: WTT>GPF>National>WC>NHK>COC

The Zayak rule states that you can't do more than 2 of any jump in a FP. Not only that but only a total of 2 types of quads or triples can't be don more than twice. Because Yuzuru's original layout was supposed to have a 4T and later on, a 3A-3T However, he popped the 4T and it became a 3T. So he's very good at making quick judgements when that happens. He did a 3A-2T because if he did a 3A-3T, a 3Lz-2T, 3A-1Lo-3S and then a 3Lz, he would have zayaked because there would have been 3 triples that would have been repeated: 3T, 3Lz, and 3A. By changing the 3A-3T into a 3A-2T, he avoided Zayaking because only the 3A and the 3Lz was repeated.

This was extremely helpful and easy to understand, thank you! :D

I just realize something after seeing that leaving from the venue video; we did not see him wear his mask (not the POTO kind btw ) this whole time while in Japan for the WTT. Is it because it's the end of the allergy season? (which I thought was just starting now) or his physical condition is better?

Yes, pure mindless speculation, after I've watched the program and that 4S for the nth times...

Yes! Maybe That's because he loves poto so much! Does anyone know if there's any other music he loves? (Besides j pop and violin which we know very well )

Almost cried when he finished the last spin...and had to wrap up for working:mad:I was not sure about the decison of going to WTT but now, I truly appreciate that. Thank you yuzu and please take a good rest.

btw, I watched yesterday's free skate with my Winnie the Pooh plushie, think it sent vibes to yuzu's pooh-san? I'll really miss yuzu during the summer:cry:

Am I the only who has not found a single article that's got Yuzuru's FS SB right? Everybody's saying he just passed Denis' score at WTT, why aren't people considering the GPF?

I'm a bit late, but I just want to say that I was so impressed by him at this free skate, no words. Not even the performance in itself was the big factor for me, but it was how he handled it, it's unreal how he never backs down. I don't know if I should be impressed, scared or mad to be honest. I also loved his reaction right after and at the K&C. I was surprised he was very low-key after doing a great performance. It was a fitting reaction for the bittersweet season that he had, as if that reaction represented his whole season.

He has a champion soul, a bit extreme at times, but nevertheless I still hope that he will show us this spirit at his performances for many years to come. For this, please take a really good rest and we will see you next season Yuzuru. Take care.

Considering his never-give-up-spirit as we know well , he will set his bar even more higher on his jump layout for the next season as long as he is healthy. I am afraid but maybe it is unavoidable :drama:

I thought you are the one that repeatedly said he should drop the 4S. That 4S sure changed your mind.
I thought exactly the same thing.

Oh, and I also need to update my ranking, but I seriously can't choose between WTT and Worlds for 1st place POTO as hard as I try. :drama: Those were the two POTO performances that I actually liked and can watch over and over again.

I prefer the details of the performance, especially the second half of the program, at Worlds, so despite the beginning errors I think performance wise I prefer Worlds.

However, WTT made such an impact for me, it had that "closing of chapter" feeling. He looked very in control and his poise before, during and after was everything. So even if for me performance wise it's a bit inferior to Worlds it's still so special.

And, of course, Both ina bauers and spread eagles were spetacular

I can't wait to see how Yuzuru's artistic development will be. I hope his eager of technnical content won't slow too much this growth. He actually improves at an alarming rate so I have high expectations.

Yuzuuuuuurruuuuuuu Fantastic Awesome Amazing Hanyyyyyyuuuuuu! I just watched the WTT and I was so nervous and excited for him. CLEAN, HE SKATED CLEAN! My ultimate hero does it again. And how they revealed him with the mask. Team Japan is so fun! Congratulations, Yuzu!

Speaking of spins, his speed was getting faster in WTT than any other competitions of this season. That last two spin combs in the FS were just breath-taking!

Hi everybody! I think it's time to de-lurk here since I've been lurking in this thread for such a long time already.... and the season is almost over and it will be a loooonnnnggggg and loooonely off season so might as well be part of the fun here (I really appreciate all your fun posts here btw) Anyways, what a long program from Yuzu! I really hope that he already conquered that 4S mental block from the past seasons, that 4S was just huge and beautiful, shame about the 4T but I think it just has something to do with the lack of training, quick thinking with the 3A-2T to avoid zayaking. I hope he'll return next season healthy as he can ever be. (Please no more freak accident! :drama:) I think I've aged a decade with all the accidents, ills and injuries that he had this season.

I'm excited to see him later supporting his teammates for the last two competitions for this WTT. I hope we can see a goofy Hanyu later. His emotions were subdued during his KnC moments so I hope he'll have fun later. OT but I also find the Japanese Pairs (Koga&Audet) really cute and they were really supportive of their teammates, they really stayed on the K&C all throughout the events. I'm also really hoping for the best for them.
