Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Johnny said in interview that American federation didn't care about him at all and he even was late to bus in Torino, cause noone told him beforehand. And VM saying Zueva paid more attention to DW lately.

And that VM and DW barely talk in changing room; some skaters being too aggressive and tried to knock them down during OP; etc. (Yuzu has mentioned that he and Yan Han exchanged aggressive look when practicing in their younger days. )

And both johnny and VM admit that FS is full of gossip. I guess every circle is though.

As for Yuzu & Han during childhood days, sometimes kids could be cruel, but every year they become wiser. Of course I don't believe it's a war for them. Skaters often say "You always fight against yourself. There is just the ice and you".

Sure, I believe they have grown up and become wiser. I am not hinting that crash was intentional. I saw it and it is obviously an unfortunate accident. But there is tension between the two as some journalists observed. One journalist tweeted right after their SP six minute warm up that she felt the tension between these two kids and she was a bit concerned. Maybe because these two have similar warm up routine or something and she herself cannot really tell why she felt the tension. But yuzu and Han did almost hit each other during their SP warm up and I remember seeing a GIF about that.

I saw a video when Yuzuru pump his fist with Han Yan , after the crash and smile. I think he understood it was an accident and didn't blame Yan Han for the crash.

I saw that video too. And I notice in WC (not sure SP or LP warm up), yuzu made a nice gentleman gesture to let Han exit the rink first.

He will always be a gentleman! I want more people think and act like him. World it will be better, don't you think? . :)
This is only one reason I like very much Yuzuru.

Of course he knew it was an accident. :) Children are not the most reasonable beings, especially when they compete against each other, but they're both adults now. They grew up and Yan Han and Yuzuru go along well. :) Yuzuru once said in an interview that Yan and he hold hands in the infirmary and both said "I'm sorry" (even if none of them are really to blame, it was pure unluck).

But at time of competitions, things can get tense, willingly or not. People are seeing too much into this, there's simply a lot at stake (first GP, Yan skating at home, Yuzuru the olympic champion, etc...) and the tension resulting can make seem to people that two skaters may not get along. Which is not true.

Oh, I didn't know about it.
But if anything I've noticed about Han's warm up on ice, that he goes full speed and his skating kinda seems agressive and like he has no full control over blades. May be in China skaters used to skate alone?
Now I recall Adam Rippon crashing with Nan Song and Tatyana Totmyanina being hitted by a chinese pair skater.

Don't know about Tatyana Totmyanina, but I saw Nan Song's crash video a while ago. He was so badly injured. And that happened in SH as well. That arena...

Well, be realistic but think positively.

These two, forever struggling when skating back to back. :laugh2: Really it was a shame the draw in Sochi put them one after another, after Brian's reaction to Yuzuru's score at the GPF2013, I can only imagine what it would have been like in Sochi. But well, we had Ms. Kobayashi's reaction

And thanks to the universe for that

I also wanted to see Papa Orser's reaction. But if Yuzuru managed to be the first skater to break the 200 line, maybe we'll get to see it. Fingers crossed! (For Yuzu being the first one to do so and for Brian to be there for this).

Yeah, totally! Remember Papa's "Oh hoh hoh! That was so close!!!!" when Yuzu got 99, 85 for SP at last year's GPF.
I hope Yuzu will break 200 points in LP soon so we can see one proud Papa!!!

That's all I know.

I don't hope so. I'm not Ok with that. Yuzu has just 3 seasons to accomplish the goal of winning 3 more world gold medals and of course, OGM.
As for Shoma, I hope there will be many great american, canadian, russian boys and from other countries to make exciting competition.

I agree with you Morena. For me Yuzuru and Patrich Chan are in a class of themselves. Then there are Javier and Denis Ten. Then there are all the other skaters, among them the Americans, Canadians, Russians, Chineses, Japaneses. Shoma will have lot of problem beating all those skaters, before hoping to beat Yuzuru and Chan.

Well it used to be Chan (and Takahashi to a lesser extent) were in a class of their own... But no skater is unbeatable because of two major factors 1) improvement of other skaters versus improvement of oneself and 2) major injury and loss of training time. As it currently stands right now Hanyu is theoretically 'unbeatable' but ice is slippery and you never know what can happen/what improvements other people can make, there are many prodigious talents out there. If Denis Ten adds another type of quad, or if Uno can keep improving his jumps and difficulty, or if Han Yan could get his head and technique together :p he can improve leaps and bounds, and so on.

It also comes down to the day, who is most prepared physically and mentally for the major competitions. Hanyu is certainly one of the strongest competitors but he still has a ways to go, sometimes he does make silly mistakes like his 3Lz+3T< fall at WTT (when he hadn't missed it once during practice) or his 3F hand/fall at Sochi. I certainly wish for him more titles, but what I wish for most (as well as he does too) are clean performances to win those titles, especially for the next Olympics

Anyway, on Yan/Hanyu, if I recall, they considered themselves childhood Asian-rivals. Any 'looks of tension' were simply youthful competitiveness towards one whom you consider a strong and worthy opponent. But of course they respect each other and are friendly off-ice, or should I find the picture of Hanyu almost sticking his finger up Yan's nose to prove it? ;)

ETA: flutzes/lips are counted by the intent (what it says on the intended program list). Wrong edge takeoffs result in a minor deduction (!) in GOE or a major deduction (e) in BV (70% I think) and negative GOE.

Edit: btw, does a flitz count as a lutz or a flip? (or is it a totally different element?) --> i mean for the scores

Are you talking about the flutz? Because if it is then flutzing gives the skater a -30% on the BV of the Lutz as far as I know. Same happens with the lip and flip. ;)
