Icenetwork is having a "Who was the Person of the Year in skating?" selection, with different articles. Today, it was Lynn's turn and her pick is Brian Orser. There are, of course, mentions of Yuzuru inside.

Thanks for sharing the article. "Hanyu will stay in Toronto for a few weeks, then head back to Japan to perform in shows, and then return to the Cricket Club in mid-July.". So glad, here's hoping he stayed in Toronto from mid-July to the start of the season. All the best Yuzu and stay healthy babe

Worlds 2014 SP fall was his best fall. It almost looks like it was choreographed, he got up with such flow and flair!

Saw this being passed around today on the net; it's an interview with Hanyu-san after DOI in 2012 where he performed "Hello, I love you". The interview is in Japanese, but if you click on the link beside "English" near the top of that post, it's a translated version. He talked about his new life in Toronto and about taking his shirt-off...among other things.

He is really so serious about each program he is given to perform, even taking off his shirt and appealing to the audience was something he saw as important and needs to be improved! He's so detail-minded when it comes to fs!
Btw, anyone think yuzu can actually try choreographing too in the future?

Very much so. I'm really relieved to know that yuzu will come back to Toronto in mid-July. He will have enough time to preoare for the new season unlike last yaer.
Now I'm looking forward to the information about new SP. When will they provide it?

Yuzuru's DOI 2012 "Hello I Love You" exhibition (http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNjg4ODEwOTI0.html). He was not yet the assured rock star as he fell on some jumps and his shirt toss seemed an afterthought rather than a grand gesture. As a Yuzuru fan, however, I of course found the performance of the then budding rock star both awkward and endearing.

It should have been a view he was not aware of “being watched”. But his extended back muscles. On top of that a long skinny neck. A very small face. That back shot was in the sunlight, as if being in the spotlight on the ice. Hanyu, who said himself of “wanting to stand out”. Having a unconscious back shot that fascinates watchers is probably a charm he was born with. (TV Asahi announcer)

What fascinates me is his personality. My reaction to him is the same as Takuya Kimura: amazement at such "a complete person" for one so young. I attribute it to his high degree of self-awareness and, as Takuya Kimura noted, exceptional self-discipline.
