From Panda_Wei's report after the show, he said that he had originally wanted a Japanese choreographer for this program, but was worried that it would be hard to connect to foreign audience, so they asked Shae-Lynn again. Shae-Lynn, in preparation, studied a lot about the subject and that's how this was created.

Also, unfortunately, he also said that this is not the finalized costume...

And yes, he said there would still be Biellmann.

There are different ways to translate this sentence, as anyone who has done translating can tell you.

'Wa' encompasses a Japanese style, not necessarily traditional, but also including traditional.

My translation would be: I think, amongst the currently competing Japanese male skaters, that I am probably the only one who can bring-out this much of a Japanese-style program.

P.S. I'm NOT a professional translator. I just do it for these forums from time to time and did some interpreting occasionally in the past.

Yeah, until now, RJ1 is one and only for me. But now SEIMEI have the possibly to top it. Very exciting.

Not only that, but SEIMEI is felt like a pioneering program to me. I’m a sucker for Japanese traditional performance art like Nou,Kyougen(能、狂言) or Kabuki（歌舞伎）. This program seems to get inspiration from them to some extent. Especially, Mansai Nomura （野村 萬斎）who portrayed Abeno Seimei in the movie is one of the leading Kyougen performers. I love him. If yuzu takes lessons from his performance, that’s very exciting. I went to see Mansai in the theater, and I astonished he had excellent posture, body balance, body movement. Of course, figure skate and Japanese traditional performance are totally different with each other. However, as some skaters and choreographers like Stephan or Mills is said to be the person who could mingle figure skate with ballet at high level, this program might open the door to some form of marrying of figure skating and some Japanese traditional art. It sounds like a big story, but I have such an expectation. Hahaha…

I kinda see where he comes from. To my mind, to pull off a Japanese program like this you must have a natural delicacy to you and sensitivity inside of you, fitting body lines and very elegant image. You must be skilled in paying extra attention to every single movement of yours, even of your fingertips. Yuzuru is probably the best male skater who can show fine lines and refined moves with great control.

Would you keep posting if you found some inspiration about the program? I’m glad your guys posted around them. When June 21th comes, we will see show version program and know some part of that. Now is a fun time for us to imagine! I’m enjoying this moment with your guys.

I’ll second that in his words. Yes, he is humble person. But that he uttered something sounds confident is also good.
