Does anyone have any idea how the cancellation of teb would be handled? Though I am totally with their decision to cancel the event because obviously the safety of skaters should always come first, I'm wondering what they'd do about calculating the points for those skaters.....

Japanese news clip of TEB being cancelled and skaters' reaction. Judging from the announcer's words, I feel that ISU already decides to take SP score as final standings. And skaters are probably planning to return home now. The JSF lady officer was telling Kanako that they think it is better to go back to Japan as soon as possible. Then Kanako asked "immediately?", the lady said yes because there is no need to stay there since they cannot compete anyway.

Thanks!
but I'm kinda surprised that kanako doesn't want to leave France like ASAP! Hahaa!! Does she want to shop there for a while? But I agree with the lady that it is better to leave asap

I think she wants to continue LP. She was wiping her tears afterwards and her coach comforted her. I don't think being unable to do some shopping around would cause her that much pain...

Alright! Thanks!

Actually.. going into the thread may just make your head spins lol. I suggest we just wait until there's really an official confirmation from the ISU (or some other officials). I read that all officials involved will be holding a meeting this week (supposedly on Tuesday) in relation to the TEB cancellation. So it's safe to assume that whatever it is will be discussed and decided on the meeting. So until then, just wait and see.

Btw, the proposed result (by the sports director of ISU) is bringing the SP result as the final result. But again it's only a 'proposal' and it's yet to be determined (until the meeting occurred I assume). I think they'd also consider and discuss about the possible alternatives.

There was a Behind the Scenes show today featuring most of the members of Team Japan that went to the GP series so far. There was some new footage of Yuzu being fitted for his costume and doing Choreo with Shae Lynn as well as doing music editing! It showed again his interview with Mansai-san and his FS at Skate Canada. I'll post the link when some one makes it available.

^^^ Thanks for the video Specs.

Love to see the choreo process with Shae Lynn especially when they skating in sync at 5:47min :luv17:

Translated by Yuzuland the Yuzu & Mansai part
Mansai: “Does [the name of the programme SEIMEI] has a double meaning of Abe no Seimei and Seimei (meaning life)?”
Yuzuru: "Yes"

Some screen shots and short clips from the video. Looks like the fitting is for the Seimei 1.0 costume (summer ice shows version).

Also this photo just popped up on tumblr, he is so princely

I still miss that part of the step sequence too. The backward crossrolls really fit the world of SEIMEI and surely have enough power to attract judges. That part may contribute to PCS too. But it's only my opinion as a FS fan, since I'm not an expert nor a judge of FS.

^^^ Also the step sequence in SEIMEI is based on the fight scene between Abe no Seimei and Douson in Onmyouji (the fight scene showed @6.36min)

@Maria Polonius, you were right when you first said in post #27773 "Those gliding crossovers at the end of the sequence make him look like a mysterious foxy magician who's emerging from a victorious fight!"

Yea, I still miss them. I wish he would sacrifice a level and 2 points or so and leave them in but I suppose I don't have a competitive enough mind.

Highlighted sections from the video....

The first few versions of the original step sequence

Hand washing etiquette at Japanese shrine by Yuzuru Hanyu. I google translated the tweet.
" Method of the water basin is almost perfect, I was surprised.
① Hand wash, scooping up water in a ladle.
②, Wash the right hand move the ladle.
③ Once again move the ladle, pour the water in the Palm of his left hand, rinsing the mouth.
④ Hand wash.
⑤ Ladle vertically to shed water and wash the handle of the ladle."

The COP "screwed up" that step sequence. Maybe he can do the original step sequence at the Team Challenge Cup where the scores don't matter.

Do you think he'll take part in the Team Challenge Cup? It would be great to see him one more time during the seasons where there are no WTT :)

I think participation in the Team Challenge Cup is by invitation. He is the highest ranked skater from Asia, so he should be invited. I don't think skaters can turn down the invitation. Team Asia is not going to win anyway. So maybe there is a small chance that we will see the original step sequence from him.

Challenge Cup is going to be a battle between Team North America and Team Europe, but I have a feeling Yuzu can't settle for anything other than number 1 in men's event
I hope he will use Seimei in future Gala, and use the original step seq.

In fact, Team Asia is most likely to win because the final score is calculated by adding the IJS scores together, so men's single becomes the most important discipline. Yuzu and Boyang Jin will bring lots of points to Team Asia unless they bomb badly:yes2:

So, I did a little dig up and it says that the two highest ranked skaters from each continent per discipline are invited and the rest are decided through voting. The points are awarded per placements, like WTT. So, ATM, for Team Asia, it would be Yuzuru and Denis for the guys, Satoko and Rika for the ladies, S/H and P/Z for pairs, Kim/Minov, Wang/Liu for Ice Dance. Idk how many skaters are invited through the polls, but I'd say Team Asia is looking pretty solid except for ice dance, if we consider that at least Mao and Shoma could get in...Boyang, too...
