Yuzuru Hanyu: 2015-16 Season

I think to many new fans, Yuzuru's POTO is very good. (His POTO was voted the best LP of the season. I don't think all of his fans are blind fans.) Sometimes I wonder if POTO being the overused warhorse really brings prejudice against that program.
What Yuzu did with that musical is he took a few important parts of the music, a bit of vocals and the result did not sound pathetic or over dramatic. It is what makes me stay away from musicals- their over dramatic vocal parts, especially sang by a group of singers.

My figure skating instructor asked us to prepare one minute program as the last day presentation and I thought "Yey, I'm going to steal one minute from Yuzuru." But, then I realized it is not like that I can imitate his step sequence, so I decided to steal from his novice program :laugh2: But still it needs changing all jumps to single rotation jumps

I thought that POTO was quite good! Better than R+J part 2 and better than NDP. He was into it, sold it and the music cuts were not obnoxious. That said, Seimei is 10X better. :hap10:

I think SEIMEI is better than most of Yuzuru's past programs and most of other male skaters' programs (this season and the seasons before. )

But I also find Yuzuru's POTO to be better than all other men (except Denis)'s FPs last season.

(PS. I didn't watch that many programs.)

Completely random, but I wonder if Yuzu's ever visited the Fox Village and Cat Island that's in Miyagi :hap93: A friend of mine came back from a trip in Japan recently and told me about it. :o:

Out of all the POTOs last season, I thought Yuzuru had the best music cuts. Hands down! The cuts were smooth and not sudden, everything really flowed. I also admired Shae Lynn for actually taking advantage of the musical by not typically choosing just one or two songs. I'm not saying his POTO program was bad. It's just I recalled Shae Lynn saying there was more to the program than what was put out last season, but because Yuzuru was injured, he had to cut down on some of the choreography.

I love the POTO musical (it's one of my favorites and I was stoked when I heard that was Yuzuru's FP) but like you said, maybe the fact the musical was overused a lot it probably made everything less enjoyable to some people. I know it happened to me during the last Worlds when I had to watch three skaters skating it back to back

I think it's not that so many people dislike the program.. it's more like they're not fond of the music choice (being POTO). But once they actually get to see it completed (well) it's not bad at all.

I agree with what you guys said that among all the POTOs last season, his was likely the best (music cut and all). Ignoring it being warhorse music, I think it was choreographed well. It's one thing that he wasn't able to perform it at its best and wasn't able to develop it fully.. however, I still think it's a solid program as a whole. Plus, he delivered and was into the program so there's that too.

I remember that one time these commentators (CBC's I think) said they didn't mind hearing POTO music again after they saw his performance.
