Reasonable me : oh it's probably to get his level 4 on the step sequence !
Reasonable me starting to stressing like crazy : ASDFGHDJKS HE'S ADDING THE LOOP RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT ?
:dbana: I will go out and have some matcha taiyaki before continuing my worry over this kid. :bed:

Oh my... How much time since my last post here ? Feels like a century  Hi everyone :peace:
But for a news as Yuzu in a film, it was kind of necessary to make an appearance here.
I must say that I discovered it with a pic that appeared in my facebook news feed and I was shocked like, seeing a half bald Yuzuru when waking up was not good for my heart :laugh2:
It's a bit surprising but it must have been a GREAT opportunity for him, and as he said, what an experience! No doubt he will bring it to skating! I'm amazed how he managed to keep the secret...
Now, just a shame I didn't start learning Japanese. Guess I will just watch his scene not understanding a single word (unless he says arigato) but just enjoying his presence and charisma, lol.

Even Yuzu is in Japan I think it is absolutely fine. Worlds is at the very end of March. He use to say that he feels sad not being able to spend Valentine's day in Japan since he trains overseas. If he stays in Japan till Feb 14 then goes to Canada, he still has one and half month to prepare for worlds. Also, I bet he trains as hard as he can even when coach is not around.

Regarding Javier's interview, he said nothing wrong. But it is just a bit sympathetic. Seems like he feels that all he can do is just waiting for Yuzu to make mistakes.

Hanyus appearance in this historical movie - I still admire his courage without having had acting lessons to do it- ...maybe he one day plays Abe no Semei ?

Sorry that I shortly go back to this Fernandez/ Chan "Hanyu will make mistakes" thing : They admit that Hanyu is the best.
For me it would be no real victory beating my opponent because this other guy/woman had a bad day ( I won a heat against the reigning world champion, threw her out of a windsurfing competition, it was nothing I was proud of afterwards ).
My opinion: Hanyus jump technique is excellent "ausgereift", better, more exact than Boyang Jin' s. Hanyu's jumps are very consistent, there must be a really black day his rivals are waiting for. You remember the 3 A with wrong take off he managed to hold ?
A figure skating teacher of me gave a really deep sigh of astonishment when she watched a Hanyu - Video I showed her: "Wow, he can correct a wrong jump in the air ! Incredible! I never saw that !"

So, you mean pretty much just like any other time when we watch hours and hours of interviews or news or fluff pieces or talk shows or....

I would imagine that they hope to get some more butts in the seats with that kind of "extra" ;) look at how crazy everyone gets already. Half of the people who want to see the movie now probably didn't know it even existed two days ago. He's not exactly bad for business, as we all know :p

Absolutely.
Even one of his fans in Japan has already said that we yuzu fans need a private theater for it, because we’re going to scream every time he appears on screen. :drama:

^^^ everyone will be going  :cheer2: :hap93:

Since he only have 12 lines which translated to only a few minutes appearance, I hope that we will have a behind the scene of him going through make-up, costume changes, the cast seeing him for the first time, bloopers during some of the takes etc. etc. Hopefully this will be at least 30min or more

And will there be a premier show with the cast/director etc.? Maybe Yuzu will attend this as well as it is during off-season.

I can already see them advertising the special edition "Hanyu extra bonus goodies" Blu-ray version :p

It seems the movie ticket is being already sold

Comment No. 700:

"I could buy the special premiere ticket!
I was given the interest of 100 yen too !"

Also Comment No. 679:

"Yuzuru's screen debut is the talk of the town.
But, to my eyes, he looks nobody else but "Shogun-chan of the anime Gintama."

On the topic of Yuzuru not being in Toronto yet: resting period is as important as training period. Yuzu's sub-par performance at Nationals was largely due to tiredness, possibly mental as well as physical. I think it's good he's doing whatever he enjoys at the moment, no health issues weighing on his mind, not rushing back into training and risking overtraining and injuries. Last season must have taught him a valuable lesson. He'll go back to full training soon enough with refreshed body and clearer head, ready to fight to get the gold back.

Totally agree. Plus he only has to worry about worlds since he is not competing until then so let the body rest

Off topic, some parts of Javier's recent interview:

Q: Your biggest rival, Japan's Yuzuru Hanyu, scored 322.40 points (at the 2015 NHK Trophy) and you 302.77 (at the 2016 European Figure Skating Championships). Is that an insurmountable gap?

A: Every competition is different. It's true that when he got that score it was because he did something special and the other skaters perhaps had more mediocre routines, including myself, because I was in that competition (the NHK Trophy in Nagano, Japan, in November). One of my programs didn't go well. Each competition is different, and each skater skates in a different way. You never know what can happen. It's true that right now we have the two best scores in the world and he still has more points and the world record. But that doesn't mean that he'll do that forever. In the nationals in Japan, he didn't do such a good program. He made a lot of mistakes. The key is to work, be patient and mistakes can happen at any time because we're human.

(And the interviewer does not know the difference between NHK and GPF.)

Q: Can you be friends with your biggest rival? Do you go out to lunch or dinner, or is everything limited to what happens inside the rink?

A: We don't usually eat together or hang out. We're very different people. His lifestyle is different from mine, since I'm European. That doesn't mean we don't chat when we're in the rink. We talk. We laugh. We have a good time. With the coach, it's the same.

Hmm I wouldn't read too deep into it. Javi's usually been pretty straightforward but I don't really sense an ill will behind what he's saying. It's nice to see their friendship on the ice but for some reason i do have a hard time imagining them getting lunch outside of practice. Not to mention the age difference and different interests outside of ice skating. Personality-wise and culture-wise since Yuzu seems like a workholic homebody and Javi's more of a chill hanging out guy based on at least what I've observed. I love international bromances like Park Ji Sung and Patrice Evra on Manchester United but i think they're around the same age as well (irrelevant but eh)

I don't think Javier and Yuzuru are ever as close friends as some fans think. They are only training mates. They are not the best buddies or soul mates. (I think fans fantasize their bromance too much. I also don't think Yuzuru has many close friends. I think his close friends would be Japanese.)

I am agree with you gsyzf. I think that they are mates only. But not closer friend. Not only because javi is european and Yuzu japanese, it´s only that i think that their personalitys are very different.

IMO I think that the popular belief of which they are very friends, is simply because we see them 5 minutes in the exhibition of the worldchamp./ GPF and for the great work of advertising of the equipment Orser. We like to think that all the skaters are friends but it is evident that except these moments, they do not share much any more than hours in the rink. But not real friendship off ice.

Nobody ever said that Javi and Yuzu were "the best friends of all of their circle of friends to eachother" or soulmates or whatever. They're friends that's a fact. They couldnt train together everyday and at the same level, going for the same medals, if they weren't friends. The fact that they interact mostly on the ice or in the environment of the cricket club doesn't mean that thy aren't friend because they don't hang out outside. This is like saying that couples in ice dance and pairs aren't friends because they don't hang out outside of training.

So seriously can this stop ? This is like speculating about Yuzuru's love life, that's none of our business and let's be happy that Javi and Yuzu are supporting and motivating each other instead of trying to sabotage eachother. The depth of their friendship isn't up to us to judge.

I suggest some kind of fanauntie tribe ritual to cast out rumor demons  this here looks like perfectly appropriate ceremonial attire to do some spells. Are those prehistoric lightsabers?

Are they going to show this movie outside of Japan, with subtitles? Or even without subtitles ;)

At this point it is highly unlikely this movie will be shown outside of Japan. International fans will probably have to wait for the DVD release and a kind brave soul to upload a possibly subbed version (Chinese subs most likely). Many of the actors involved are well known and quite popular internationally however none to my knowledge have a fan base invested enough in English subbing the movies/dramas they specifically appear in. Unfortunately, the DVD itself will almost certainly not be subbed since Japan is notoriously strict about such things. And of course the DVD will be region 2 so...
