I did not follow the latest news so i did not know the new LP. So I'm just discovering the FS and I have this feeling : :slink:
What is this song ? it's very confusing, no trends, difficult to feel the air, disorganized, why he chose this music ?
And of course, it has an impact to his choregraphy : no feelings, very mechanical like a puppet, insipid.

And I'm still not a big fan of his SP.

DUring the FS, he tries 3 quad or I dreamed ?

Finally got around to watching it and it was pretty much what I expected from this outing. The jumps were decent, and the program needs polishing up. Steps looked amazing during practice but he needs to jell it with all the jumps. I expect the levels will be corrected if needed (hope not too much will be altered) before SC and as the season goes on we'll see bits of changes here and there but overall my impression of this program is still the same, enormous potential to be iconic. I have seen the light of this Shae-Yuzu duo ;)

If getting level 4 on this steps need to destroy them, let them be level 2, as it seems judges love them too

Japanese traditional music. As an East Asian I find the music very appealing. And yes he tried 3 quads and landed 2.

How the heck did Hanyu get level twos on his spins and step sequences those were level fours are the judges blind? This is Japanese nationals all over again.

He got the levels on the spins, it was only the steps which got level 2 but I don't get why the weren't level 4, as far as I could tell, he met the requirements, but well

Seems like his quad entrances have to be very different for them to work. He must get into the 4T with a lot of speed, but must control it with the 4S or he won't land it.

You are obviously blind

I think the level calls (and UR calls) were quite strict, but it's fine. there is no way he will let more points on the table than this, he will game the program better as the season goes.

Lol my bad I see he got level 4s on his spins but I find the level 2s on his step sequence a bit questionable.

I don't even care for the costume change, the program was absolutely mesmerizing. Usually when I watch him live (through livestream of course) I'm getting nervous before each jump, but as soon as he started and landed his 4sal I totally forgot to care and was watching in peace, he completely held my attention, it's stunning. He's keeping almost every little detail from the choreo, a ton more than I thought that he actually would. This is a world of difference from POTO.

When I saw him at the warm up I thought the black gloves were a no no, but when he started with the choreography I thought that it actually enhanced his hands very well. The program is dark and magical, he floats; it's just so Yuzuru honestly. If he manages to do this cleanly, lord, no one can beat that.

PS. If they change the step sequence because it received level 2 I will riot.

I totally agree with you. Totally!

Same here! It was totally mesmerizing!

Some people just have different tastes. His LP is extremely traditional and niche, you'll either love it or hate. Really no in-between IMO.

I LOVE IT VERY MUCH. Could totally related to it! totally!! DiscoverING so many genius ideas throughout this LP, wow and wow and LOVE!

Well, this season Mr. Hanyu went with a very traditional Japanese music which is also a part of a Japanese movie about a person who lived ages ago. If you want to get his idea you need to educate yourself: watch Onmyoji, read about Abe no Seimei, whatch clips of the Seimei traditional dance. Then open your heart and listen to the music. if it does not help then you're free to go. Seriously, he has done quite a research himself in order to surprise all of us. But you really need to do your homework done as long as I see Yuzu's name in your nickname, you must be his fan. Please, feed your curiosity.;)
And yes, he did attempt 3 quads in his LP. He's developing his stamina.

I think I'm so dumb in this stsq thing, Idk how to differentiate the level. Heck, I don't even know what's a stsq or not. OTL

I’ve never watched the arrangement! Thanks. He was adorable. (And I realized how much his muscles have developed in the past two years!)
Yups, he's not so lanky anymore ;)

I agree with you, some people just have different tastes. I myself fall in the love it category. I love this kind of music more than Chopin. I believe a lot of people would beg to differ ;)

I don't think it needs that much research in order to appreciate his LP, I actually didn't watch the movie at all (although I plan in doing so) and I'm not knowledgeable about japanese culture by any means but I loved it to pieces. People will love it or hate it according to their pre conceived tastes, knowing the background won't make them love it, maybe just understand from where it comes from but it doesn't mean liking it. I was very surprised that people thought that it could be difficult for western people to appreciate a japanese themed FS. I honestly think it's just an outside of the box program, it being japanese doesn't make it that much harder for western people to appreciate. It actually makes it more intriguing especially because If you're a fan of figure skating as a sport you already have an affinity for arts and generally exotic stuff; it's figure skating after all, a sport with laces and sequins.

So within the figure skating fans I see a high possibility of this program becoming iconic if he does consistenly great performances. At the end Seimei feels like a very well done work, from the change of the music pace to the placing of the elements, the performance aspect, and the fact that he's obviously connecting to it, and anything that is engaging will be appreciated. But since it's an outside of the box program I mean really outside, i'm not talking about skating to Queen there will always be an amount of people that will be turn off, I'm thinking maybe even more japanese people than western, because usually when it comes to your own country you tend to be more harsh at least for me samba programs are such a pain, I just ignore them. Or maybe really just a case of personal taste, most the times I can't deal with "comedic/cheeky" programs when it comes to the men but I know that there's people who find them charismatic.

Of course there's a part of me that want to just take off that 3rd quad if it will mean an extra fall or will ever harm the attention to the choreo and his stamina, making the program fall flat, but I came to just accept it and understand that it's Yuzuru after all so there's no going back. If by some miracle everything come together and he nails all the quads and the performance it will just make everything extra special, so I'm ok with that. And honestly, I don't even have will to criticize much because my desire of him coming with a compelling FS (at least for me) has come true.
