I'm so glad I would be on flight during FS so I don't have to suffer(much) from stress waiting for his turn.

You guys are right, he seems weird today lol especially when he saw his scores like he wasn't shocked or disappointed he even acted like "heee I got that high?" Kind of face. Whats up Yuzu? Lol

Haha that's my rational for preferring competitions that occur while I sleep. At least while I sleep I won't stress out about how my favorite skaters perform, and then I can wake up to the news.
Maybe his cheeky expression was because he knew he had 2 invalid elements after he finished and he's taking the it could have been worse route

It's not that I am biased or something but his SP today isn't as bad as his score suggested. I think it's still beautiful because there was no fall and his spins, flow...were top notch.
Now we should be worried about the free skate. Big sigh... The bad has fallen upon the SP and hopefully that's the end of it.
I hope for an acceptable Seimei tomorrow.

I agree, the program itself minus the jump errors was excellent and really left a strong impression. It's just that the mistakes that were made on the solo jump and combo were probably the worst combination of mistakes he could've made :hopelessness: I'm hoping to chalk it up to one of those weird freak instances similar to where Charlie White fell several times during COR, all you can do is laugh at how weird it is. I'm crossing my fingers for the free though but watching Yuzuru really is nerve-wracking.

Honestly I didn't expect clean performance in his first GPs of the season, knowing him for all these years. Lol
But he should think of various options when things don't go well. Going for 3lz2lo instead of 3lz2T after messing uo the 4T for example.
But anyway it's not an issue now. He should focus more on the LP now. I don't think he will come out of this GPs with best scores honestly, but I hope for a better performance.

I did set a low expectation, but this is still lower than my expectation. :hopelessness:

His performance is not as bad as his score suggests. He always does poorly in the GP, especially in the first GP competition. He seems like the sort of guy that needs competition experience to get his nerve under control. The first GP is always the first competition of a season where he faces real pressure. (Senior b competitions have little pressure. ) So his first GP performance is almost always his worst performance of a season. With more competition experience on the GP, he peaks at GPF and National. After a long break from National, his performances in the first competition after national (2013 4CC, 2014 Olympics, 2015 WC) tend to be subpar as well (but not as bad as his GP performances). It seems that a long break makes him lose a bit of his competitive mindset. But after this competition, his performance at the following competition will be a lot better, but not as good as his GPF and National performances.

I did think his SP is more risky than his LP. However, I still hoped he would only make 1 mistake, instead of 2 mistakes in the SP. At this rate, we will see a clean LP before a clean SP from him.

He needs to think of a backup plan in case he pops his 4t in the SP. It's not the first time he popped his quad in the SP. He also popped the 4t at COC last year. I think a backup plan may look like this.

1. If he triples the quad, he sholud jump 3lz-2t.
2. If he doubles the quad, he should jump 3lz-2lo.
3. If he singles the quad, he should jump 3lz-3t (i.e. no change.)

As usual we are just at the beginning of a wild roller coaster ride...
based on magic and effortless quads Yuzu jumped in practice it seems to me this is the same timing issue he had last year with 3L-3T combo,
actually involving 4T in the second half of the program too. Timing issues are still there, this is not PW SP.
Soon we’ll see if a killer Seimei appears on the scene to take his revenge.

GOOOOO YUZUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

It should be good to skate 1st I guess. He will be nicely warmed up for 3 quads, but he needs to manage energy in warm up

Hoping the mysterious foxy magician will emerge victorious from an epic battle tomorrow. He has it in him. He'll do it. :cheer:
I agree. I think he will do it.

A place at the Grand Prix Final is at stake.
And I think he REALLY wants to reach the final.
To get there, he can't rely on being lucky like last year.
He needs to finish on the podium... and ideally silver medal.

After that short program... he is cornered, under pressure, his back is against the wall.
But historically, it is times like this that he produces some of his best skating...

I hope at the bottom of my heart that what you say will come true!

I agree. Now he made those "silly" mistakes, he must have in him the rage of doing his best to show his real talent. I believe he will be on fire today. GO YUZU ! :cheer2:

I'm praying for a strong comeback but I'll keep my expectation very low. It's okay if he bombs again. This failure will force him to reconsider his strategies, I think.

I really hope he'll at least get on the podium with the bronze medal, that'd still make it highly possible for him to get to gpf

I really think it's still very possible since his technical components are huge on its own and even if he doesn't produce a clean skate the score will still be very high (unless he bombs badly *knock on wood*) so.. fingers crossed!! Looking forward to SEIMEI!

The pathway to the final ain't gonna be easy but I'm hoping it'll be a little smoother than last season.

I think his timing with Seimei is much better on everything. I don't know what is in his SP that always sets him off. Seimei is more upbit, that drives him, but Chopin always puts him out of window it looks

I love this program and I hope to see it clean one day! However, it didn't look like a disaster...
Good luck for the FS! 7 points isn't that much. Seimei has so much potential so...go kid! :cheer:

I honestly like it when he uses an upbeat music because it keeps him moving around (he always moving around, yes, but the step sequence in a slow music sometimes makes me worried). I wonder whether he gets conscious of his jump when he uses slow beat music

okay, now I have a thought, I think he need a strategy to avoid such things happen, it is in very high risk since now 4T+2T is at the 2nd half that he missed, and we have another 3T after 3Lz, the correct layout is , we should not use toe jump too much, the 4T must be replaced by 4S or something else, we have 1 A jump, 1 S jump, 1 LZ JUMP , 1 T Jump , then this situation can be got rid of. (Or he should change 3lz+3T to 3Lz+3lo?)

Please, team brian, rethink about the jump arrangement! It is a simple strategy change.
