I was wondering what happened with your husband  good for you :agree:

Honestly, in SC, he didn't like Yuzuru's behaviour. What I called "cool, composed and charismatic" in one of my posts was "arrogant and impolite" in my husbands mind. I reminded him that this is exactly his own behaviour, something that made all our female/male classmates crazy/jelous about him during our MSc degree. But for some reason he got so angry when I told him that. Well, during NHK Yuzu did exactly what Tracy Wilson said in 2012 WC, " He doesn't share with the audience so much like his teammate Disuke Takahashi, but when he jumps like that boy it is exciting."

I'm pretty sure he's not real, there's just no way that one single..... oh, the pictures. Yes, I think the pictures are legit :o:

:coffee: Yeah they're real, I think it comes in poster size too. Its in one of the recent magazine releases.

So happy that they are real. I was always thinking yukata is not his style and he needs to wear hakama as the traditional clothing. Now, it is here, I so love these photos. Thank you guys for sharing them :luv17:.

don't know if those have been posted yet, but there are more pictures.
You'll have to excuse me now  *gasping* I need my inhaler

I saw many tweets trending on my SNS today saying that this hakama that Yuzu is wearing is not from the designer, but rather his own family with his family crest - I guess that is the white circle thing on his sleeve.

I found the email from witch I receive an answer after Worlds 2015. This is [email protected]. I hope it works because I want to send a message of congratulation to Yuzu! :luv17:

Remember that´s this is a business email, not a fan email, they probably will reply because they are polite, but is not right to spam them. JSF has got an mail adress and a forum for fan to leave message for the skaters.

Maybe someone from Japan or knows about the Japanese culture can explain this to me:
Few pages back someone shared an image of Yuzu wearing the formal traditional Japanese clothing.

And on both sides of the chest, on each sleeve, you can see a small pattern . Is that his family crest? Or mon or kamon in Japanese? (I can't tell the difference between the two)

Is that something you can use to trace back your family history?

Magazines

Okay, digging my old post out from exactly a month ago! As promised, my Ice Jewels magazine has arrived and I would like to share with you the thorough interview with Yuzu! It is an excellent interview where you can understand how he overcame the hardships from last season, how he has evolved from this experience and plans to continue to do so until 2018. In fact, the title of this interview is 進化する羽生結弦 (The Evolution of Yuzuru Hanyu)

I don't have my scanner handy so I took photos of the interview pages, hopefully they are not too blurry to read!
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

About his plan to upgrade the program difficulty mid-season, I saw a few people noted that Yuzu has already mentioned this in one of the recent magazine interview.

And here is an excerpt from the Quadruple 2016 magazine: http://i67.tinypic.com/14aetg7.jpg

When talking about using the same SP from last season, Yuzu mentions that although the jump contents are the same, but the additional transitions and the axel entry...etc are evidence of the program's evolution in this season. Then he goes on, the program is not at its final state yet, he will continue to upgrade the difficulty as the season progress.

This interview was conducted during the Cricket Club media open day on Aug 6 this year, the title of the interview is : Voice of Yuzuru Hanyu - Yuzuru Hanyu at TCCSC

Team Japan photo (maybe from the press con?) I think we'll hear news from the conference soon https://www.facebook.com/JapanOlymp...806071674512/1016805581674561/?type=3&theater

Lots of press-con and practice footage from this wonderful poster on dailymotion

If my Japanese is correct, according to this article, he decided to have 2 quads in the SP before the gala at SC (thus the famous practice off the side) and Orser was surprised but they started practicing right away. They also asked him/mentioned Boyang's 4lz. Hanyu-san said "That was wonderful. 4lz is not an easy jump. However, skating is not about difficulty of jumps. I am me." He said with a smile.

I'm afraid I have to agree. I doubt that poor Erin has a secretary to presort fan mail

Thank you for this answer! Did you know this e-mail adress for messages to Yuzuru?

Thank you for this answer! Did you know this e-mail adress for messages to Yuzuru?

I don´t have it, but I´m sure it was posted in this forum about last year. Yuzuru´s facebook page is sending a package so I guess they have it.

But I don´t wish for people to think that Yuzuru´s fans are selfish as to be perceive as rude. Is so easy for a fanbase to over step the bounderies between supporting someone and be annoying to other people.

Two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko said performance in the short program of the Japanese skater Yuzuru Hanyu, which was the result of 106.33 took the lead in the Grand Prix in Japan.

"I think he bowled well, in the same breath! There was a mad energy, everything was decent: great rotation, excellent slip, great emotional component. This is his best rental history.

He is only 20 years old. This peak shape of a skater in the men's figure skating. I very often skate with him in Japan at the demonstrations, and he makes three different quads and learn quad lutz "- said Plushenko.

Praising article on Inside Skating "Japan’s Yuzuru Hanyu enters history. Again."

I love the title choice

Positively BEAUTIFUL spin. Love the variants they added and it really stood out to me when I was watching his SP. Giving me flashes of Etude~

NHK 2015 - Translations

Newest Q&A. Hoping someone can do a quick translation. Thanks!
I was just at it not knowing if anybody would be interested
Let me know if anyone finds any mistakes. I don't think I was able to understand some parts.

---------
Thoughts after performance
- In one word, there's still tomorrow. I've never skated (the SP) without making mistakes so everybody was really worried for me. I appreciate the powerful way they supported me. Tbh, it was fun.

Regarding Boyang Jin's high score
- I heard the announcement in Japanese so I knew what it was but it didn't concern me. There are things that (only) I'm able to do. I was able to skate with excitement, without being concerned about making mistakes. It wasn't perfect but I landed all the jumps. I'm capable of doing more.

Regarding the changed elements
- I'm still planning to change the entry and landing of the 4S that would earn more GOE. I want to improve its execution. It was the first time in a while that I've been able to challenge it in a relaxed manner. It was not planned for this season. The program has become a totally different program. This was the first time I jumped the 4-3 in competition. If everything went well, I was going to include it in the latter half of the FS. I'm glad I could do it without mistakes. (In the near future) I want to do include the quad in the 2nd half.

What kind of training have you been doing
- I've been doing intense and hard training.

What made you decide on changing the elements
- I thought that I'd have to include 2 quads in the SP some day to win. I'd have to do the jumps with difficult entries, landings, steps, spins, skating with total focus until the end before I go to PyeongChang. To win consecutively as an OGM, I have to be predominantly strong. I haven't reached my goal yet.

Regarding the new world record
- I thought I have to be surprised by it (not sure what he means here). It's been a while since I got a score over 100 and score-wise, people might think that Hanyu is back. I was able to execute elements of highest difficulty that I'm currently capable of.

About the new senior skaters
- Starting with Uno-senshu, a lot of wonderful skaters have come up (from junior). I'm only 20 years old but I'm treated like an old man. When I'm competing with Mura-senshu, I don't think like "he's my senpai" but more like "I'm definitely going to beat him". I haven't been able to include the 4lz yet. I want to tell Jin-senshu that I'm studying him.

Are 2 quads in the SP necessary?
There are skaters who can do them, and there are skaters who can't. If I were asked if they are definitely necessary, then "definitely" is not the answer. I was able to score over a 100 with 1 quad. If I went with 2, I'd have nothing to lose. I wish to do more than quads (something in addition to quads?).

Any memories of 1998 Nagano Olympics?
- It was before I started skating so I don't remember much. I don't remember the Olympics then.

Thoughts for the FS
- I want to focus, enjoy, and do what I'm capable of doing to my full potential. I want to enjoy the feeling of joy after the SP and go about it in a relaxed manner.

A more detailed Q&A came up.
http://sports.yahoo.co.jp/column/detail/201511270006-spnavi
I've just translated Yuzuru's (and Boyang for one question) replies from the press conference. I think this one makes more sense in parts. The other Q&A skipped some details (like he suddenly started talking about the 4lz and not the 4lo ).

Thoughts after the SP and what you hope for, for the FS.
- The result of the SP comes from working really really hard. Tracy Wilson, who is also with us, and Brian, and all the other coaches at the Cricket Club, all the coaches who had coached me in the past and the audience helped me deliver a good performance today.
Because I was able to skate a good SP, I hope to be able to enjoy the good feeling from the SP for the rest of today like I did at Sochi Olys, and do the best for tomorrow in a relaxed state.

Jin-senshu skated in a senior competition with Hanyu-senshu, who he admires. How do you both feel about it?
Yuzuru
- Thank you (in Chinese). I have a feeling of appreciation and also, there are many skaters who have come up from the junior circuit recently. Starting with Uno-senshu, there are many wonderful skaters and I'm actually being treated like an old person but I'm only 20 years old. I don't think the situation is any different from me competing with Mura-senshu. When I compete with Mura-senshu, I definitely don't think like he is my senpai and I definitely want to win against him. So I think Jin-senshu is competing against me with the same feeling and I don't consider him as a someone who is younger than me or anything. On the contrary, I'm happy that he's finally competing as a senior and I haven't been able to include the (4-)lutz in competition, my (4-)loop success rate hasn't increased enough yet so I want to tell him that I'm studying his.

Boyang
- My feelings towards Hanyu-senshu or other skaters who I admire hasn't changed very much. I think I was able to score over 95 points today because I was able to stay calm. So I want to stay calm in the FS tomorrow as well. And I appreciate the nice things Hanyu-senshu just said about me. I'll do my best.

Hanyu-senshu and Mura-senshu were both still small when the 1998 Nagano Olympics took place. Do you remember anything about it?
- Calculating the years, I was 4 years old then but I hadn't started skating yet. I have no memories of watching skating either and I remember nothing about Nagano Olys. But thinking about how I started skating, the 4 senpai skaters at my home rink had all skated at Nagano Olympics and that's how my family and I started going to the rink. I might not have started skating if that was not the case.

Hanyu-senshu and Mura-senshu, the number of skaters who did 2 quads increased at this competition. Do you think this sport is heading towards that direction and do you think anything will be sacrificed for it?
- Just speaking about having 2 quads in the SP, there are skaters who are able to and there are skaters who are unable to. Skaters are all unique so if asked if it'll be absolutely necessary, I don't think so. With the current rules, having 2 quads is as far as one can go. Someone with a 4A might come along but with the current rules, having 2 quads is the max you can do, plus you have to do the steps, spins, transitions, expressions, etc. But, like Mura-senshu, you could do 1 quad, 3-3 or 4-3, 3A and will he never be able to win with that? I don't think it's impossible. In reality, I had 1 quad with an axel and lutz in the 2nd half, I received +GOEs with expressions, spins, steps and scored over 100 with that layout. So if I think about that, I don't think having 2 quads is absolutely necessary.
I don't think there is anything to lose by having 2 quads. It'll depend on each and every skater's uniqueness. You could do a program with 2 quads, do triples and have expressions like a skater without a quad, execute beautiful jumps, steps and spins with +GOEs, and nobody will be able to beat you so there is nowhere else to aim for besides that for us. So there is nothing to lose.

When the layout of the SP was changed, Coach Orser said that he wanted to change towards a conservative direction, but he said Yuzuru was ambitious. Why did you think that you should go through with your ambition and how did you convince your coach?
- I don't remember exactly but I, of course, discussed it with Brian and Tracy and before that, i discussed it with my family. Like before the accident last year, I had the option to change the layout to jumping the quad first and ending with the axel, but I thought about what I'd gain by doing that. I trained that layout last year, then the accident occurred so I had to water it down, but I couldn't execute them cleanly. I can't define that as "growing" and I can't "grow" at that (small) pace. I wanted to do it because I wanted to grow.
Also, I thought that I'd have to include 2 quads in the SP one of these day to win. I think that I have to include 2 quads with +GOE worthy entries, landings, steps spins, expressions and skating until the end, fully focused. That is what I must be able to do by PyeongChang Olympics and as an OGM, I have to be predominantly strong to win consecutively. This (current situation) is far from my goal yet. I want to work hard and challenge myself more. I just told Brian that "I'll do it". He didn't ask me if I can do it, I told him that "I'll do it" and I did it.

I recorded the eurosport 2. Dutch commentary (we get both Dutch and English)
Wunderkind. Local hero.
Like Kovtun, he's going for two different quads, salchow and toeloop. Here comes the salchow... quad, yes. Here the toeloop, nicely jumped from passes, quad T, 3T. Very good! And those passes he didn't have to do, they are purely transitions, very, very good. Last jump, from transitions, 3A, beautiful.

Yuzuru Hanyu, Olympic champion, and what a difference from the SP at SC. This was phenomenal, fantastic, really not just only the technical elements that worked, but when it really works, then everything is connected with another, no long preparations towards the difficult elements, nothing like that, everything is tied together with transitions, with passes, with skating movements, met [moons] [[[[(I have no idea what the lady is saying here, it sounds like the English word moans, but it's Dutch and probably spelled moons, if it IS even a Dutch word.)]]]]
The [moon] or [mode] saved him a little after the first jump, because he was a bit overturned, [... I'll continue here after the ladies SP, the lady keeps talking about mode or moon or... anyone a clue what she might mean?

I recorded the Eurosport 2 Dutch commentary, quick translation. Here’s the full SP.

Note: I’m going on the assumption that the commentator is talking about spread eagles when she mentions [moond] or some such, as per suggestions in this thread. I haven’t found a website with Dutch figure skating definitions.

The [spread eagle] saved him a little after the first jump, because he was a bit overturned, but {mumbled} very fast into such a transition, we’ll be able to see that later. The kur is very well put together. Yes, what a skater, such skating skills, the way he moves his body, his presentation, excellent, good spins, and… he already is way ahead of Jin in the technique---
[this is where the other commentator also starts talking, Jeroen Prins)
“not normal, eh? When we saw him at the Olympics, his tech score was five points lower than we’re seeing now, so we’re going far into the hundred.”
100 plus?
“Yes, it’ll be 103 or 104.”
And everything just fit and went well, the spins, the step sequence, two quads, a combination triple, now [they show the ] quad, there he is a little deep and overturned, but went very fluidly into the moond, we didn’t see that in the slowmo, look here at the landing, not entirely round but will be given (as a quad), and then he manages to step into the moond, that shows his class, that you’re able to solve it like that. And then the second quad, the toeloop, turned into a combo, and also with connecting passes (transitions?), no long preparation, very easy, 4 rotations and 3 rotations in combination. Beautiful positions in the spins, a beautiful performance to this gorgeous piano piece by Chopin. And here the entrance to the axel, again, so easy, so fluid, so difficult (!), and he was able to immediately pick up the music again after the landing of the triple Axel. And the interpretation of the music.
Well, what will this be? (she means points) What is the world record?
JP: the world record is 101.45, his own
His own
JP: his own, at the Olympics. Well, this has to be higher, if the technical score is adjusted downwards, but I haven’t really seen anything that needs to go into the review (note: Jeroen Prins is also an ISU judge / tech controller etc.). well, maybe he will get lower for the program components than at the Olympics, though I wouldn’t have any idea why.
Almost 41 is the highest components until now, by Mura. Almost 41, well, he must get higher. That was not yet a nine on average, but of course he will get that.
JP: what’s it gonna be? 106.33! Bonkers (not really a good translation I’m afraid, the Dutch word sounds VERY positive, bonkers doesn’t, well, not to me, really). It’s already unreal that someone scores into the 100, and he did that at the Olympics, and here he adds another five points. We watched the perfect short program here, well, not entirely, the landing of the first quad could be a little beter –
Lady laughs
If you really still want to make a comment on it—
They could give tens, I don’t know if tens were given yet, but he comes at an average of about 9.5 for the components. There are judges who have already given tens, even for Fernandez in the free skate even though there was a fall in it, we can look at the protocol later to look it up. But gee, 106, and smashing [bad translation, I think, the Dutch expression is ‘sharpening’) the world record by five points, wow wow wow (‘jonge jonge jonge’, doesn’t really translate). And what a gift for the Japanese fans, and that has been different like last year here at the NHK, when in front of his own audience, he skated as Olympic champion and completely messed up, really messed up, in the post Olympic season, [note: she really should have bothered to add WHY he was not on form then, sheez] but in the final, the GPF, he came back [with a vengeance]. Yes, look at that, everybody ecstatic.
JP: what a short program, what a way to start NHK. Hanyu, incomparable, sensational…

Russian commentary...can any one do a basic translation?
Rough Translation. I'm gonna work on mistakes later.

Man: So Yuzuru Hanyu, Olympic champion.
Tatiana Tarasova: He works very well now, practices a lot. It’s not enough yet but he’s becoming a professional.
Man: So let’s see how Yuzuru will answer to the challenge.
TT: 4S Bravo took it out and straight into a difficult position.
TT: Great jump. 4 & 3. This is the first time we see him do 2 quads.
Man: People say that he did change it. And that’s what he does, in the SP I mean.
TT: From the amazingly difficult entry he does the axel. ......The hands with the music are just amazing, just intact. Truth is, the program itself is great, just makes one stand up. It suits him very well and he feels it well.
All the elements and STPSQ and the turns, all difficult.
Man: Yuzuru is Goood, very very good.
TT: Simply the King!
Man: I have a feeling that we’ll see a new record. He’ll beat his own record. 101.45 and it will be beaten well, very well. That’s what means an Olympic champion. He just saw how everyone else skated and towards where the Men Figure Skating is heading and he answered. Answered with a statement.
TT: I bet there’ll be about 110. I’m very happy that they decided to keep this program because I didn’t have enough of it. I wanted to see exactly what I saw now, an interpretation, impersonation of Chopins' music.
Man: When I look at his face sometimes I’m worried for his health as he’s just giving all of himself to it, you know, just like the actors sometimes are actually living in the role.
TT: He’s got a bit of under rotation but I doesn’t matter.
Man: Well they did give him a bit more for the salcho.
TT: Well you gotta be an Olympic champion to get some extra points.
Man: Yes, yes one can’t be just a newbie. Hanyu shows that when he’s in the mood you can’t fight with him, no matter who you are, Chan or someone else.
TT: He was very focused. He’s just gotta get a bit tougher. You see the entry to the salcho, it’s the most difficult one, from the turn he does the axel. There’s no more difficult way to enter a jump especially one that’s as complicated as the axel.
Man: We gotta give him the credit. He’s beating everyone.
TT: Truth is, he was born for this. His legs are long and he is very flexible.
Man: OOO 106.33, It’s not 110 but it’s great! 5 points over the previous record. Though Kovtun and Menshov are in the second group but with this Yuzuru, no one has a chance.
TT: What with this Yuzuru, he’s got nothing with this, our guys just have to get out there and skate. As well Yuzu has 40kg together with the boots, our guys gotta lose some weight first and then they’ll be able to jump like that!
Man: Yuzuru Hanyu is the first! With a Gigantic difference!
TT: There’s nothing to say! People a crying, from shock and Amazement!
