maybe they distinguish between treatment and rehabilitation? :scratch2: Maybe it's just a language issue, but that's how I would understand the word rehabilitation. The treatment could have been anything from strict rest to wearing a cast or having surgery. I guess rehabilitation may just refer to the time afterwards when you take measures to regain full function like you had before the injury?
(my vast medical knowledge comes from some broken bones and torn ligaments as a teenager :palmf: so don't trust a word I say)

Yes I think you are right , this is a period from strict rest to rehabilitation, maybe wearing casts for first weeks. So it seems he started rehabilitation in mid may I guess from 10-20 May like this, he might be back on ice already or will be back soon, I don't think there is vast delay of his recovery. 2 month only has passed this week. As Ms Shirota said he will get new choreos in june, I assume we will have news from first hand soon.

Hi Eloyse.
Thank you, I will try to enjoy the show. At least I have a friend going with me.

After knowing that Yuzu said he still had a pain on the latest magazine,
I really hope he won't participate in any shows.
In the past weeks I have been very nervous at 0am (in Japan) because the announcement about
the attendance in the show(or rather absence from the show) is always made around that time.
It's nerve-wracking every night. Hopefully CIC will announce Yuzu's absence very soon.

Hi daisy, I know how you feel. It's hard to sit for a few hours to watch a Yuzu-less ice show, so I chose not to go. I hope you'll enjoy your time at Nagano.

Oh No.... :sad21:
Any idea when did this interview take place?

May I ask you, he started rehabilitation at that time, at what time, mid May? I thought he started rehabilitation right after wc?

I stopped by a bookstore, but they didnt sell Life vol.6 released today including the interview. so i couldnt read the interview. According to twitters about Life, the interview is 2-3 weeks before.
He says he still has pain although it takes 1.5 months from worlds.

About the word, rehabilitation, he seems to say so in the interview. I dont see what rehabilitation means exactly , but it may be a kind of language issue as Pamigena says.

Further, i read another magazine about his interview right after worlds. He says he skated Requiem his heart out more than ever, since he must be away from the ice for the maintenance (he says maintenance) of his legs for 2 months since then. At least he already planned to stay away from rink for 2 months at Worlds.

I think I read that interview in a Russian translation. Loads of really interesting things there - if the concept of having a Japanese text translated via Russian weren't so weird, I'd try and translate it. :)

Can you give me the link of Russian translation please, thank you

Thank you for the link!
Watching these seem like they are actually following yuzuru closely. They made remarks about his usual trouble in 3Lz and how he used to have problem with 3F. One of them even mentioned about the 4Lo. He only did that in quad battle, practices and shows so unless they follow him closely I doubt it is something known by general commentators (they even predict he would add it in his FS in the future, haha). They even recognized when/if yuzuru change his entry, that is very observant. I didn't even notice

They are not knowledgable just about Yuzuru, but about all skaters and not only at senior (nor junior) levels. :)
I heard about Young You for the first time from Massimiliano over a year ago, for example. Or when Shun Sato and Rika Kihira skated at NHK gala they gave a lot of infos about them and even about their level compared to other novices from other countries. In their commentary they started speaking about Shoma back in 2011 to give another example.
Their podcasts last summer over JGP was the most informative as their explanation over the different ways various countries have to develop the sport, too.

That to say, they really appreciate Yuzu, but they are not blind fans praising him without basis or just because they like what they see. They have a deep understanding of the sports and a wide knowledge about figure skating all around.

These news about his injury are worrying me more each time :( it might be best for him to skip the ice shows altogether if he is still in pain. Or only go to a couple of dates.

Considering all this latest information about his current condition, not just ice shows, but he could possibly not join any challenger series? GP events seem to still be reasonably on the horizon unless a newer update of his condition would state otherwise. I am worried of course but there is also a slight relief knowing these updates cause he seems to understand how important it is not to rush back to practice and take his time to heal completely. :)

Yes, yes. I meant they seem to be following the skaters closely, not just yuzu.
I find their commentaries refreshing since we did not normally get a lot of technical insight from most commentators, especially to the point of what jump is usually troublesome for them or what other jumps they might be capable of (like yuzu's 4Lo) . Also, they can even predict the score closely. Love their commentaries! :agree:

It’s the commercial of the variety show of “Kiritoru TV” on June 12 and the announce of GPS starting in October (last part of the air of FaOI MAKUHARI, the TV broadcast is the same Asahi). Provably the uploader just collected the films where yuzu appears!

*********
On a different note, I posted the video of FaOI Makuhari which was aired last night to team Japan thread. Some of you may be interested in it, so I inform you of it here. Opening and finale without yuzu is sad and the show’s atmosphere is different from the past 2 years…

P.S. I made FaOI thread to the Edge.

Thank Hamaguri.

Wishing Yuzu a speedy recovery.

This year FaOI Makuhari looks subdued without Yuzu at the front. Re-watching last year's show Yuzu presence and 200% commitment to the performance was electrifying...

wow this is amazing Alia

Watched a video of a montage from the 2015-2016 GP series. And you know, it made me feel so happy. :) Like yes I know I didn't see Yuzuru skate cleanly in person, but still, I'm very happy that I got to see one of my favorite skaters skate. Look I know we might still be sad that Yuzuru didn't win the WC this year. But he won it once. So he IS a world champion. Not to mention Olympic champion, 3-time GPF champ, 4-time Japanese National champ, etc.....I feel like it was an honor to see a living legend and (Sorry for saying this) a king of figure skating skate in person. Remembering the excitement I had and hyperventilating in excitement that I was seeing him in person.

I hope Yuzuru has an awesome season in the 2016-2017 season.

New article or interview saying by mid May his leg still hurt so the treatment continues. I hope he is better by now.

Thank you for the link! I'm still in the calm mode regarding his treatment process as they did said they treatment could possibly extend until June. So its still June. it means within their planning... but I will start worrying when he is still under treatment starting July :sad21:

I'm so happy I was able to see him in person. It will be a long time before another skater like him comes along. His short program at Boston was like it was from another planet.

And well, I'm not losing hope about Helsinki! He still has the chance to win at least another one

Random middle-of-the-night thought: I know we still have a looong way to go to get there, but do you guys think Yuzu might be the flag bearer for the Japanese delegation in 2018? After all, he was the only Japanese Athlete to take home a gold medal in Sochi. And it would be so cool to see him at the front of his team

He would be the obvious choice. His coach Brian Orser had the honour of carrying the Canadian flag in the opening ceremony of the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics.

I believe it will be someone more senior than Yuzu, like Noriaki Kasai.

Following the Japanese tradition and culture (notwithstanding the many changes in modern Japan), age equals seniority and hierarchy is paramount. Example the WTT 2015 team captain was Mura.

Thanks alia! As always, you have good eyes! I didn’t notice and watched several times and found the dark figures at this part:- 7:01 Yuzu & Oda crouching in front of the stage !
This year I want to go to one of FaOI, but Ive watched FaOI with him live for past 2 years, so im sure I will have tears to see FaOI without him...

About “Blue flame II”
From blog of Chief Editor, Takanobu Kobayashi:http://ameblo.jp/takanobu-kobayashi/entry-12167985055.html

"It took 4 years since the first book.
We’ve covered him in detail and made this new book.
I’ve watched all of people worked for the book and the editor in charge and their passion and effort are really respectable.

whether he is in good shape or bad, he spared his time for the book and talked about his thoughts sincerely and honestly.

We have confidence in the book. He himself states “this book has everything about me.”

Further, he responded to the things which he’d never talked about.
This book describes Hanyu Yuzuru not as a generous skater and a king but as a young man in his 20s."

Another information says this book has 288p. The first book has 167p, so 120p over are added. But even with the increased pages, the whole pages seem to be insufficient to cram into his 4 years history where too many things happened…
