i don't know what exactly happened at press meeting , but as only one newspaper wrote this info and put in headline and all others are pretty positive ....
they wrote based on old info and just had one sentence quoted by Shirota...weird enough...

Rough translation of Yuzu’s comment:
I aim to skate my programs without mistake, naturally, plus I really want to become one with the music, or play the music with my skate, because fortunately, I’ve got a program which let me enjoy myself.

I always attempt it saying “Yes you can, you definitely can land it” to myself until the moment I actually jump.

I love the way he encourages himself:)

Anyway, I think it is flattering that many pick Hanyu as their fave to win this. Including the majority of GS member in the prediction game.

HOWEVER, as a Hanyu fan, I keep my expectation in check :biggrin: Since 2012 he always gets silver on his first GP assignment so I won't hold my breath on him winning this. I would be glad if he does, but I won't be panicked or bummed if he doesn't. Just hope he is satisfied and positive with his result. Good luck, boy! :hap10:

EDIT : Anyway, I am super surprised she didn't pick Patrick. Patrick actually had a good practice yesterday. :biggrin:

Some like the bling, some HATE the bling, some looooove the Johnny Weir influence and some can't stand it, some like the more dramatic aggressive side, some like the more gentle lyrical side, then some like the somewhat sexy :scratch2::laugh: rock star side of him. Back to your point, in your case, you seem to care about lines and toe-pointing. It's perfectly valid, and I'm sure there's others that would like it too (you do have a + rating on that comment!), but the responses to your YouTube comment that other people don't see it as significantly is also interesting. Anyway my take on it is that his boots are some of the clunkiest and ugliest in skating and truly are confirmed to be next-to-impossible to point your toe in (and he just upgraded it to an even MORE clunky and stiff version :laugh:), but it's the price to pay for keeping his poor ankles together. Whenever he's injured, it's almost always the ankle, I think he's had a hairline fracture since a long time ago that leaves his ankle super susceptible to injury, and in my opinion it seems to be why he sticks with it. I'm not sure the flexed foot could've survived Tracy Wilson otherwise ;) I just don't see him improving this aspect of his presentation due to his own limitations as an athlete who currently has to land very difficult jumps. I mean I don't think I particularly care about toe-point (I mean, even Ice Dancers with the low-cut boots and more flexible fabric isn't really pointed at all for my taste) so I'd rather him focus on continuing to improve his upper body line and control, but who's right and who's wrong? No one is. :)

:) definitely I appreciate people love a lot of different things in Yuzuru and I do appreciate everything (or nearly everything) in his skating. I love him a lot. But here on that special run-through it was really really noticeable and frustrating to me and really took me out of the magic of the program. I never said it "ruined the program" for me but it does ruin the intent of the very flowy very beautiful choreography imo, especially in the step sequence. :(
And it's not Yuzu is incapable of it, he had improved a lot in programs like Chopin imo so I hope it is the 4 quads and the beginning of the season kind of thing and he will be able to add the extensions little by little. I do agree his boots are so ugly and if they are so stiff maybe it makes it even more difficult but honestly Yuna never pointed her toe in her life and she trained under Tracy Wilson too so I just think it is not the team priority, which is understandable, but a bit of a shame (for me).

Yuzu looked fantastic in practice! :love: I'm really looking forward seeing him skate that LP under better lightning and with better camera work (no offence to those at finlandia who I'm sure did their best!).

I hope they'll stop spreading the fake depressed/crybaby Yuzu's image and stop talking about Yuzu's injury but respect his will not to reveal his leg condition.

I guess as they say on this board, YMMV :biggrin: because I've never once found his toes to be pointed, not even in Chopin, as many people like the folks of TSL liked to point out. :laugh: He has decent turnout most of the time and that's good enough for me. Kim had her own hangups as a skater despite the constant nagging from the two Wilsons of David and Tracy about her toe point (but that's another story for another thread). So it's not that it's not a focus of the club, but it comes down to the particular skater. Hanyu's already been with the Orser camp officially longer than Kim was. In his case, people who own the same boots testify that the boot is so stiff and boxy that any attempt at some sort of toe-point is futile.


ETA: So improvements to his FP overall! I hope he can keep up the stamina during that ChSq because without conviction and energy it loses all impact. I do give him regards that his choreographic sequences have A LOT more content than most. The tension growing through his 3A+2T with the buildup of the music, all the way to that final lutz, I can just imagine how it would be with a clean program and everyone is just waiting for that final jump which happens to be one of his most inconsistent :palmf: I'd feel more comfortable if he did a 3Lz+2T and then saved the 3A for last :drama: Everything hinges on that last jump, whether he makes only his fans cry or the judges too :biggrin: Anyway, I understand the need for that short break he takes with music racing right before his 4S+3T but I kind of wish he just did a backward kneel/lunge across the ice or some other sustained move, I think it would be wonderful. But some nitpicks aside, I think SEIMEI might have been a more unique theme with a nice and beautiful story structure, but I think that the placement of the jumps in H&L is even more musical, especially in the second half. If this program is ever skated cleanly :eeking:
