The Chinese will not skip 4CC. They will attend both. The two competitions are indeed quite close, but still doable.

I don't know where people can think that flu, not a common cold, is not a serious illnes. In Europe, it's a very serious matter. In my country, every year, the Health System advise to get vaccinated against the flu. There are groups of risk (people over 65, people with cardiopathies or similar, diabetics, asthmatics, individuals with kidney diseases, pregnant women, health personnel, firefighters,...) whom the vaccine is free. The Health System spends millions of euros every year only on prevention. It's true that if you are a healthy person, flu will go only with high fever (38º-40º), headache, joint paint, aching muscles, tiredness and weakness, chills...And the Health System recommendations are painkillers, stay at home, avoid contact with other people where possible, keep warm and rest and so. If some complications appear, which is not strange, such us pneumonia or some respiratory problems, people will need other medicines or be hospitalized (sorry for the long explanation, I work in a Health Center and we're in the middle of the season of the flu) So, I don't understand why some people think Yuzuru should skate with flu at all
. Football is the main sport in my country, and every year some players can't play important events because of the flu. And nobody thinks they should play under those conditions :dev2:
Yeah~ @b138oo is right, I live in a non-four season Asians country and here in Malaysia when people said flu we understand it as normal cold and not a serious matter, it's not until I am 13 that I learned the term "flu" in our countries and in four seasons countries carries a different meaning of illness, it's because my principal contracted flu while visiting UK and he was absence for 2 weeks so our teachers explain about the illness. Differences of language culture due to climate.

To be honest, I'm not too shocked. There's quite a number of skaters training the 4A. But Brian didn't precise if it was a clean one. Yuzu had said in the past that he landed UR 4A. It could have been one of them.

I'd love to see that. With Yuzu being like "Let go!!! I wanna jump!!!Sometimes I wonder if during practices Orser and company just try to rein him in by using words, or if from time to time someone actually has to sit on him, like, literally sit on him to hold him down.

But jokes aside, I believe Yuzu is a bit more careful in his training. Now that I think about the 4A, I wonder if he landed one using the harness. We know he trained the 4Lz with the harness, but we don't know how his practices go exactly.

Mann I feel bad for Bryan honestly hahaha i feel like having a student like Yuzu is a blessing but also brings headaches hahaha Imagine when the practice is over and Bryan be like "ok guys, let's go home. Make sure u guys go get a good rest" but instead of seeing Yuzu getting off the ice, he sees a quad axel instead lol
Yuzu is like an adorable super talented athlete that sometimes could be annoying bc he is hard to control hahaha but then he is always getting better bc he is uncontrollable so by the end of the day u could only take a step back and shake ur head hahaha
Not giving pressure but how great it would be to get a chance to see Yuzu jumps a quad axel in competitions. It is Yuzu's dream since he began skating to jump a quad axel in a competition and it is my dream as his fan to be able to watch it

Really, these people don't know what the flu is. There was a nasty outbreak some years ago here in my city: people were bedridden for A MONTH. Lots of people have died, and these were really healthy people. Imagine what it can do to someone who already has respiratory problems, the flu is no joke! Winter always meant that whenever i came down with a cold, i would be in the hospital with oxygen because i couldn't breathe, i can't imagine what would have happened if i had gotten the flu when i was at the worst of my asthma.
Yuzuru was so eager to show us a godlike performance, why would he be avoiding an inconvenient competition by giving up his national title? Is like you haven't been paying attention to these last 3300+ pages...
I am really happy that he is listening to his body and taking all the precautions to be on his best condition for the next competitions, resting, and taking care of himself.
I am sad because he must be feeling really bad, physically and creating planets left and right with the amount of kuyashii he surely has now, and there's probably Hanyu stew now because of the fever... Poor baby
I am sad because i will miss him terribly until the next competition, but it's all for the best!
I really hope he feels better soon i even did a little drawing and posted it on twitter with the hashtag some japanese are using, i guess that's the only thing i can do to support him now !

Another one should be in ignore list. No respect to the coaches Yuzuru has chosen whatsoever. Yuzuru won't improve anything by coming back to coaches in Sendai. They simply have no facilities and support for his current level. Dream on.

To be serious for a second, I'm not surprised. He wants it, it's obvious and controlling people like Yuzuru is not possible, just minimizing the potential danger. So Brian probably has him in a harness for the 4A on a regular basis, simply to get that out of Yuzuru's system and just pretends those YOLO 4As don't exist otherwise he'd go bald.
Here's hoping today is a better day for Yuzuru and he's recovering well.
My point/implication is he will only withdraw from national when his 4CC spots and WC spots are guaranteed by JSF. That's in response to someone's question about whether he will be sent to 4CC due to missing national. Some fans believe JSF might not send him to 4CC if he misses national. So I replied that if there is a possibility that JSF will not send him to 4CC due to him skipping national, you will see him risk his health to compete at national. So the fact he withdrew from national means his 4CC and WC spots are secured. Every competition is risky. Athletes rarely compete with perfect health. It's only a question of whether you think the competition is important enough for you to risk your health. National is only important because it decides your worlds/olympics/4CC berth. You will risk your health to compete in national if that's the only way you can be sent to worlds/4cc/olympics. If you can make the worlds/4cc/olympics team without competing in national, then national isn't that important any more and it's not worth taking the risk.
In addition, JSF does have the incentive to allow him to skip national. It's easier for them to justify sending him to 4cc/worlds without him competing in national (they have exceptions in their 4cc/worlds selection criteria), than to justify him not competing in Asian games after winning national (since they have made no exception in their Asian games selection criteria). Asian Games get a lot more attention form the public and the media than 4CC. JSF will get a lot of public criticism for going against their own rules and allowing their national champs to skip Asian Games when Japan is the host country of Asian Games.
