And this is really off topic though,I read a news flu problem is very serious in Japan, rightnow. About a million people got flu infection..., so sorry to hear that. Hope everyone's health in this thread.

Per my guess I think he will do 4lo3T in competition before that.

Could someone enlighten me why he would want to do that? :scratch2: It's not getting him anything. If he wants to put it into the 2nd half of the LP, he'd change it with the 4T (way better for his health anyway) and just keep the 4S3T I guess. I know Yuzu wants to add more difficulty all the time, but he never changed the combo from 4T3T before just for 'more difficulty', he only did now because of the injury. Have there been more videos of him landing it?

I'm also a bit surprised at how far opinions are differing regarding the 4Lz  It will very, very, very likely not happen this season, and it shouldn't. Yuzu didn't just include a new quad with the 4Lo, in both programs at that, he also went from 3 quad LP to 4 quad LP. IMO, that is a way bigger and more difficult change then changing a 4S to a 4Lz in the LP, even if that is another new quad. He's doing the 'biggest work' this season. Add his late start because of injury, and he has a lot on his plate already.
Ultimately though, while of course getting mileage on new elements is very important, I think 4lz at the start of next season could work. Remember how Yuzu just added that 3rd quad last season, while never really skating a clean 2 quad LP, and everybody thought it would take him forever to skate well? Clean in his 3rd try (and in the 4th). How we never got a clean Chopin, and then 2nd quad and boom - perfect? 3 times out of 3 internationally at that. IMO, it's 99% about being healthy and in top shape. If he manages that, I wouldn't be surprised to see him land 4Lz out of spread eagles, 4Lo twizzle sandwiches or 5 quads just for the lolz on his first try. The problem is just that being healthy and in that top shape is a really difficult task all on it's own.

I think flu is really bad everywhere this year. It is really bad here in southern Ontario as well ( including Toronto).

4Lz 4Lo3T 3A SP maybe?
Anyway, considering it is Yuzuru, and how he suddenly announced that he would do a 2 quad SP mid-season just by NHK trophy presscon, I doubt anything else would surprise me. If he even decide to do crazy stuff at 4cc, I will just laugh it off, really.
Also, quite the opposite, I think doing more number of quads is easier than doing a new type of quad. Like I can imagine him doing 5-quad program if it was only sal and toe (look at him doing 4S as his last jump during runthrough) but for him to do 4 different type, I would imagine it will give him a hard time.

A new quad probably takes more energy to do until it settles into a stable "feel" or "pattern". And in that sense he's more easily fatigued than he would have been doing a 4 quad layout but with old quads.

Will he always be limited in doing toe loops, due to his injury?

Regarding his 4S3T in FS/LP, he did it so beautifully in his practice run-through at Autumn Classic (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4w6dsd_2016-09-29-autumn-classic-international-practice-yuzuru-hanyu_sport, jump to 3:12 or even better start at 1:53 to see beautiful skating) - does he do the more typical entry for 4S here though (rather than the 4T entry he has done in competitions)? - I'm not very good at telling yet. The person who filmed this did it greatly btw :agree:

I think that while it might not be very important, doing the 4S3T there when timed right does match very well with the music and wouldn't the best move at this point in the season to change to the more traditional 4S entry? Maybe that's what he is looking to do right now with Shae Lynn Bourne? He was a bit behind the music with the jump at NHK and GPF - I'm sure this is stuff you guys already have discussed, but I just really thought about it today reading about the fact that he's back in Toronto (Hi, btw :) I'm new)

Also regarding 4lz, if he gets the 4lo under control by focusing on it now adding the 4lz next season could perhaps be easier, since he will then "only" have one new quad jump? Isn't the reason for him slowing down a bit with the toe-jumps also due to his previous injury?

Hi Nordesque, welcome to GS, post often
(obligatory welcome message haha)
I don't know it looks like his usual 3turn-mohawk entry into 4S but the timing for him changed. He made a longer pause before going into the second half jump in his program at NHK and GPF. If you compared this one at AC to his NHK one, he does not jump at the same time of where the music is, in NHK he jumps much later. The one at AC and SC matches the music highlight but not the one at NHK and GPF. From what I heard in the KnC at SC , he felt narrow (?) during the sal which could be why he popped them at AC and SC. For NHK and GPF, seems like he get enough room but he just throw himself off and went off axis.

.
Because doing two 4lo with get higher BV? And adding a 3T is still easier than a new quad?

All this talk has made me feel very worried. I know we should trust him and this is probably something he saw coming and is already preparing for it but still i feel anxious... I want him to have an Oly gold that doesn't make him feel regret :( and i want him to finally get the World Champion title again...

Hang in there! I want OGM and at least another WC so badly for Yuzu too. I want to feel reassured that Yuzu is letting people around him properly support him, and that he's going to have the best shot going forward. (I need to get myself together and stop freaking out, but I blame it on Tumblr and silly anon asks. Grrrr.)

Thanks to Nathan, our thread grew 7 pages

The thing here is that i trust in what he can do. I have no doubts that he can catch up with the young ones coming up because if his goal all this time ahs been the gold for Pyeongchang and he has shown us that he does plan ahead, i'm sure that he has taken the age factor into account.
What worries me is how he's going to do it, i doubt that he doesn't have a plan that will enable to retain his practically untouchable status (talking about him being clean), but at the same time i think, is he going to be able to execute that plan succesfully with that pressure?
I am not worried about him overtraining, after that terrible injury is obvious that he's listening to his body now, another indicator that he is probably taking the age factor seriously, so i don't think that Brian, Tracy or Yuzu himself are going to push him to train harder to try to catch up.

EDIT:
I was really bored. Like REALLY bored. So i cut up some audio.
And i put it here in case anyone wants their phone's notifications to sound like Yuzuru telling you to smile (waratte), do your best (ganbare) or that everything's ok (daijoubu da yo). Bonus Ghana chocolate CM song including Yuzu saying "makkate, tokimeki!" which i'm using as my ringtone now. (I'm using the "waratte" one as message notification, in case you were wondering lol)

Wait a lit bit more and see that our Yuzu will not let us down...Have patients and faith on Him!!!

4Lz 4Lo3T 3A SP maybe?

But it's not about new quad vs. one quad more - it's new quad in LP + one quad more in LP + new quad in SP vs. new quad in LP ;) so yeah, I really think this year there is more 'upgrading' then adding the 4Lz to the LP would be next season.

Because doing two 4lo with get higher BV? And adding a 3T is still easier than a new quad?

That is true, but I don't see him going for 2x4Lo unless the 4Lz isn't ready yet next season. Maybe I should have made that clear before: I don't expect him to change his layout again this season. We often like to say he's crazy and he is, but he's usually sticking to his own game plan and what he wants to achieve and thinks he can do. He's really not the type to 'panic upgrade' because of anything Nathan or any other skater is doing. Yuzu will go at his pace, and for this season, that looks set to me. Maybe a smaller change like moving the 3T to another quad, but not repeating the 4Lo (that was the line of thought I had, which is why I didn't see the benefit of the 4Lo3T). And then if there are changes next season, I think they'll happen right at the beginning and that's it. So I don't see him doing 2x4Lo in the LP and then adding a 4Lz at a later point between now and PC. And given how much we're hearing about the 4Lz lately and how he likes his quads, I think the main decider is if the 4Lz is ready or not. If it is, it's in the LP, if not, 2x 4Lo might be the plan B - but then 4Lz won't happen before PC, IMO.

why should he get a deduction for a knee slide ?? :scratch2:

Because I remember watching his Requiem EX and Kurt said that if it were a competition he would already have a 1 point deduction when he was on the ground (ice) at the beginning

aah not at all , at that time (it was during Worlds 16' ) Kurt said "Yuzuru should get a -1 deduction for his costume ,during the gala we judge the costumes, not the programs" (LOL)

He doesn't had a deduction because he didn't actually fall on that 4Lo. But instead, his 4Lo was being counted as a downgraded jump.

I think teeannroo is talking about the knee slide right before the final spin. I can't exactly say why, but I've seen many skaters do it as part of their choreography and have no deductions with it. I think because it's very clear it's an intentional move.
