He did get a -1 for his FCSp3 at ACI. I guess it stayed with him and gnawed at him.

Yes but I think he talked about his sit spin in this case.

awwww :o::luv17:

He didn't say he got negative GOE, to me it read like he didn't get high enough GOE for his standards. SC was only +1 and +2, so he was fiddling to get higher. Humiliation was a strong word, but it's literally what he said XD So that part stood out to me as well.

Maybe he meant that he didn't get high enough GOE for what he had expected from himself. I thought he meant that he didn't get positive one, so the score itself was not positive.
Thanks for clarifying. :)

Am I the only one who thinks that the swan costume is atrocious ?
(Please don't kill me !)

I love it but what irritates me is the fact that the skin-coloured fabric crumples when he arches his back during the EX and it kind of ruins the costume

OK, this is the night of translations - one more, from the dawn of his senior days. It's quite short, don't worry.

… Yuzuru Hanyu from Japan, Junior World Champion last season, Junior Grand Prix Champion. Music by Pablo de Sarasate with an unpronounceable title. Zigeunerweisen.

(after Yuzuru has skated)

Well, clearly Pablo de Sarasate has absolutely drained the Japanese skater, he has! He skated last 40 seconds of his program with his mouth open and his tongue nearly lolling out and having difficulty breathing.
But well done, Yuzuru Hanyu, anyway! He did everything his coach Nanami Abe told him to, he was very musical and good overall! But the most important thing is the thing he started with, great for a junior! There it is, 4T. Great! Then he fought hard for the 3A exit.
Then he started skating in a more relaxed manner, there was a musical rest before another 3A in combination with 3T. He executed nearly all his planned layout, apart from one jump.
On the whole, he was good, he worked hard, but his musicality and everything he does looks trained and introspective, so he has trouble reaching out for the audience (not that he has trouble here, the audience here know him and love him and he gets a lot of support here). I thought that he wasn’t skating that much for the audience. But that’ll change – given his age... how old is he? He was born in 1994, he’ll turn 16 in December, so the most interesting and expressive years are still ahead for him, he might well start skating as well as Takahashi. Takahashi didn’t execute such difficulty at his age.
138 points, of course, he isn’t losing to anyone at this point, and he’s ahead of Mura by 16 points.

Now does anyone want Junior JPF?

This is going to be way long, and a major labor of love :palmf: Props to fishheadanon for proofreading and telling me when something isn't really English. :luv17:

Thank you for translating this interview! Lots of insights, and he sure does talk a lot :). I have to agree with him, quads may be the rage right now but I still think a solid triple axel separates the cream of the crop.

I think the worst yet is POTO? both of them. i don't even want to talk about those. then there's also the notre dame one. the cross across is chest, the ornaments down the side of his leg... my eyes burn just thinking about it. there's just too much going on... For that same reason I also still feel lukewarm abt the boobskirt. some of his outfits just have way too much going on for my tastes. I like dramatic costumes but there has to be a clear concept... That's why I actually also like the lettuce

But just because it's Yuzuru I grew to like some of his costumes that defy my usual tastes! eg. LGC orrr RJ1... I especially love the gloves from RJ1 :luv17:

What I'm really hoping for is to have something that defines his waist again... the chopin ones did that, and also all the pants+shirt combos did that, eg. parisienne walkways.. also hana ni nare!!

I am really inconsistent with capitalization but I'm too lazy to fix it rn LOL

Oh, POTO2, RJ2 are amongst my favourites, I also like NDP minus the cross (which was really too much for my taste also).

POTO2 is gorgeous, I love everything about it, the collars, the hand details, the colours (put some bronze/gold details on a costume and it adds so much to it), the tailoring, and as a whole, together with the black pants. But I love it mainly because I think it really suited him.

there's still some time left, we'll get there. :)

I wonder if there is anyone here who would defend NDP?

I really like the colours on that one, so yes, me *raises hands* :)

Oh yes, the cross. With the huge cross on his costume, and that cross necklace he wore that year, the prayer hands AND the cross sign he makes every time he skates, I really thought he was Christian, lol. Mixed signals much?

Time really flies from an outsider's perspective.....it's already been 6 years since 3.11... I can only hope comfort and peace will come to all those who were affected. I will try and do my part as well, as many areas are still in the process of rebuilding and healing.

Costumes  My opinions (following this forum I know some of my choices are a bit... controversial). I think that the experience of the program influences literally how I 'see' the costumes though, if they work or not

Love: Étude, H&L, Chopin 1.5 (worlds15) and 2.0, The Swan/Notte Stellata (loooooove), LGC 1.0 and 2.0 (think both looks better as pictures though, rather than when filmed...not sure if it makes sense), R&J1.0 Zigeunerweisen - is it just me or doesn't its 'weirdness' work SO well with the music? Just me? *hides*

Like: Seimei 1.0 & 2.0, PW2.0 (love at Sochi, it just clicks with him and the program, up close the shirt on its own is not great), White Legend (it just clicks with the program too well)

No, just no: PO1.0&2.0, PW1.0, Requiem (the costume is awful but the ex at Worlds16 is just so great so I just don't care - at least until it's over) I'm a the only one who doesn't like Hana Ni Nare?

So bad I'm pretty sure these were sacrifices to appease the skating gods: NDP, R&J2.0 (sacrifice that worked very well), Time Traveller, Requiem (yes, again)

I mean Yuzuru is Yuzuru so he always look well :agree:

Gotta say though, with some re-working I think R&J2.0 could be much better - just remove the boob-skirt thing and all the colourful sparkles (no hate against sparkles it was just too many colours), keep the black pants and voilá: you have a pretty tall looking Yuzuru in white and black - great colours for him but yes pretty sure the costume was a sacrifice to the skating gods

Seriously, though... does he not look good in most pictures? If he was not a skater, with those looks he could have made it in tv, modelling etc., if he had wanted to... although he would have probably been just really skinny and not athlete, all muscular skinny. Big difference.
