I think the only one who broke more WR than Yuzu/Yuna is Plushy? 12 times? How many times Zhenya broke hers, I did not count.

At first I thought, oh no, this will increase the pressure on him for 2018, but I have changed my mind. He has been under huge pressure at every competition since he won 2014 and decided to continue...with increased publicity, fan base, expectations, people following him around the globe as he competes, bodyguards, sponsor demands... he is used to this and I think he has handled it very well. It could be crippling, but it isn't. Instead, competing like this after the sp should give him strength and confidence for the future. He has excellent support around him so as long as he rests, listens to the body, to his team and keeps working hard, I think he will be ok.
And the pressure he puts on himself exceeds that of what anyone else can put on him... which is why a more calm javi is also a great training mate for him.... and we know yuzu thinks he owes him a lot.
and shoma is very lucky to have yuzuru to take the heat for him, if i can say that. For him it is a bit easier, he has to try to catch the moving target in front of him... but the moving target has to watch out for everything on the path and clear that path first.

YES! I forgot to comment about that but I also noticed it. This time it didn't slow down for the last revolutions, and the improved exit since GPF 2016 works wonders with the choreography because before it would be too abrupt and it couldn't match with this subtle piece of music. It doesn't have the biggest stretch of course, but who can blame him if he is still one of the few who does it in men's.
This is something that will always boggle my mind. I understand why it happens but still LOL

Do we have a video of the part where Yuzuru puts his own medal around Javi's neck? True sportmanship there, I wish they could both win gold at the Olympics

I think he had pressure today because he was leading in the short (and by THAT much!). Seems like pressure is still something he needs to get used to
I guess, come from a small skating country where there is absolutely no competition at nationals, and then be a male skater in Europe where there is basically no competition, and bomb the GPF = somehow people don't view you as a real contender for gold every time
But Javi had a big chance here and mayyyybe if he had just been a little bit more on, he would have done it. The judges really wanted to reward him this competition.

Yes, I said too before the FP that this time would be the one that he would feel the presure. He had it but once Yuzuru threw it down half of it went off because he was again the 'underdog', assuming that he knew the results before skating of course. Because once Yuzuru gave a WR, many thought that his win was settled in perception, even though mathematically it wasn't. But one can still say that the pressure was full on because he was still the leader. So it can go both ways.

He was so far ahead from the short that he only needed 212, which was perfectly doable since they gave Shoma 215 for that performance. I think he was still the favorite. I certainly didn't think Yuzu's win was set in stone when Javi first took the ice, cuz I remember in my head I was like "Another silver isn't so bad, especially with that performance."

Hahaha I didn't know that was the case. But I was busy tapping for Misha and Jason and Yuzu anyway ^_^ I almost almost didn't get Yuzu because I was ugly crying and lost track.

Yes, mathematically it wasn't, I didn't too. But a WR, by Yuzuru of all people, winning silver would be hard to swallow yes, SP exists, but y'all get it, even though it's perfectly possible. Many already thought that it was enough for Gold.
