xAt the Kiss & Cry:
Tracy: Oh boy, I got a workout!
Brian: Oh, but that was fun to watch.
Tracy: Wasn’t it?
Brian: That was just beautiful.
Yuzuru: Finally. I worked hard [each day?]
Brian: And it all worked.
Tracy: Yes, you did.
Brian: But today you were calmer…
Tracy: Yes.
Brian: Not so intense.
Yuzuru: I don’t know. I was feeling like I don’t have enough energy for…
Brian: Guess what, you did.
Tracy: You always do.
[They laugh.]
Yuzuru: Right.
Brian: Just trust your training, you trained hard.
Yuzuru: Yeah
Brian [jokingly]: 201.
[Scores are announced.]
Tracy: Oh my God!
Yuzuru: I’m not crying!
Brian:[laughs] I am. Almost.
Yuzuru: Almost. I’m not!
Brian: Good boy. Wow.
Bonus:
Yuzuru: But I have to get more 10 points right?
*dead*

Aw, if I was a skater that might be kinda hurtful. Oh well.
He was so far ahead from the short that he only needed 212, which was perfectly doable since they gave Shoma 215 for that performance. I think he was still the favorite. I certainly didn't think Yuzu's win was set in stone when Javi first took the ice, cuz I remember in my head I was like "Another silver isn't so bad, especially with that performance."
Funny enough, Shoma was only a point or something away from gold
Now that would have been weirder, IMO.

That takes a clean skate and we know how difficult that was, not impossible of course, but like Yuzu he has not skated a clean free since last year world's.
Anyway, judges (and majority of skating fans/audiences) still have this 6.0 system mindset where unless you are leaps and bounds ahead in the short, skater with the clean and best FS should win the overall title.
You mean just the skating order or names as well? Wow, Patrick didn't make it to the gala but Jason did.
Exactly! That's the perception I meant. It makes no sense but it's there.
I will comb through my footage and see if there's anything worth sharing
A good fancam of Yuzuru's FS at this WC https://youtu.be/pJKo-6qf4Tc
I hope we will have even better fancam to come.
to anyone able to take a good fancam during his performance. I could barely remember to breathe amidst screaming and crying lol. Also Nathan didn't either. Well, tbh Patrick not being there is more surprising but I thought Nathan was the new USFS media star?![]()
such a cutieAbout the increased pressure at the Olympics: I think the preassure didn't exactly increase. As a defending champion with huge potential and records under his belt he would be under pressure no matter what. The confidence booster that this win brings will outweigh any extra pressure, I think. Yuzuru will stand on the Olympic and be able to think "I can do this."

It is a mindset that has been set up for decades, I understand it is hard to erase/overcome. In the 6.0 system, it is just veeeeryyy unlikely someone who failed/make a mistake in their free would win. And pops/stepout/turnout are not that costly in 6.0, but fall is death penalty. The reason why compulsory figures are removed was also because audiences just can't fathom if someone with poor(er) free skate would win over someone with better FS but less great CF. So maybe some of the current judges will tweak the scores a bit still based on this prejudice still, maybe.
I sorely regretted not trying to capture at least some of Chopin at Boston so I was prepared this time. I had to compromise between living in the moment and watching the performance vs getting footage though so I'll have to edit to only the good partsto anyone able to take a good fancam during his performance. I could barely remember to breathe amidst screaming and crying lol.
Maybe tomorrow
