Any idea why they're looking to do that? I thought the contrast between short program and long program right now is pretty great :s

also what are your thoughts on LGC?? :D or would you hold on it until after wtt :D :D
It's probably because of money... but I think it's also to standardize the competitions across the disciplines, the Free Dance and Ladies FS are both around 4:10 minutes long, so I think they want the Men and Pairs to match it (although I can't seem to remember if the Pairs FS is also being shortened?) My concern for the men is with removing around ~30 seconds and only one jumping pass, there will be less time for choreography with all the time for setting up the quads.... But I guess we'll just have to wait to see how it ends up.

(I'm holding off on a LGC rant because I think we might get a crazy good performance at WTT )

If you meant if why we haven't seen the 4Lz from him in gala/open practice session, I think it is a matter of pride thing :p So many are able to land 4Lz now, frankly, it is not really anything special to land anymore. But if he failed it when many others are consistently landing it, even though it is just in practice, he probably would not like that  While 4Lo is different, he is among the first who lands it regularly and even now not many are doing it in a program.

Lz in general is a counter-rotated jump, supposedly making it harder than any other jumps. Beside Yuzuru is more of an edge-jumper than a toe-jumper, so Lo should have been easier than Lz and F for him. Maybe for someone who is more of a toe-jumper like Nathan, Patrick or Boyang, doing 4Lo will be harder than 4Lz.

I have an alternative take on this. I think the 4Lo, being an edge jump and also with no one else's to reference, takes more variation in ice quality and different rinks, to stabilize. Whereas the 4Lz is toe-pick assisted, and may be less dependent on the environment any given day once you have the technique. I think so because Brian alluded to this point indirectly in his book when he talked about why 4Lz, 4F appeared before 4Lo did in competitions. Also, I remember Daisuke trying out the 4CC rink and specifically making a point about how "it's good for edge jumps", which makes me think ice condition is probably more of a concern with edge jumps.

So, with 4Lo he does need to take it out and try it in galas/open practices. Whereas, with 4Lz, his training in TCC might be sufficient. Not discounting your take though. It might be a mix.

I think so. You may slip on your edge and waxel your way for example, so softer ice might not be liked for edge jumps? Or it is the other way around, no idea :p
But for Yuzuru, I feel that he tried (or showed off) jumps that he knew not many competitors were doing like 4-lo-4 or 3Alo4S rather than jump that he might have never shown to others (like 4Lz) but has been landed by many. Which is why I doubt we would see 4Lz from him in gala/OP, until he actually put it in a layout.
Or he could be just matured and limit himself to do jumps he has yet to master to avoid injury, who knows :agree2:

4LZ is harder than 4LP on paper, though the guys currently doing the 4LZ haven't successfully performed the 4LP in competition yet.

I see :o thanks :D I hope we can see it soon :) it would probably mean he starts to feel comfortable with taking 4Lz for a walk :P

This tano/rippon talk reminds me of how I said before the SP at Worlds that I wanted to see Yuzu's rippon again (I was referring to the 3A2T combo in the FS) because that would mean a clean CoD... but then the SP happened... and I sill feel a little guilty about having said that :palmf:

I think Orser clearly doesn't want Yuzuru to upgrade more quad. But the way it is now, he is the frontrunner he has to add at least the 4lz and see how next season goes. 5 quads LP is possible for him if others are doing 5 or 6.
Frankly I think Orser and Javi are a bit naive to think next season they don't need to upgrade anything. If Javi doesn't upgrade, the chance for him on the podium at Olympic will be much lower.

It'd be madness to advocate for no 4Lz next season considering how things are going. It's not just Chen's and Uno's multiple quads (they'll both have 5 or 6 next year), it's the horrid GOEs and PCS too.
Honestly Yuzuru has no choice, in terms of the 4Lz so hopefully there are no battles in re to adding it or not.

I don't know if Javier will upgrade or not but I don't think the 4Lo will be that easy to add even if he wants to, which is probably one of the reasons why he may be reluctant. He's politicking though!

Oh how I miss your avatar and yuzu's death glare :yahoo:

Or Brian might just be being noncommittal in that interview. The whole Yuzu team is basically like :) regarding questions about new quads anyway. It's TSL after all :s ew.

I'd like to formally apologize to Yata for invading the DemonEyes!Yuzu territory u.u

You have Yata's blessing. The Minister of the Church of Yuzuru FanFest always welcomes more Demon Eyes

Might be though not sure that tactic will work, considering all who blabbed about his jumps, including Yuzuru himself

:ghug: I am partially pleased RL did not interfere during WTT week so that is something!

I got the feeling they thought the program was cold and didn't understand it. I think this is the main problem imo not consistency.

Maybe that's one reason, yes. However they were a lot colder after Medvedeva's FS too, at least compared to what they said last season during GP series ('she could be the best ever' etc., and this before all her Europeans, Worlds, GPF gold medals:shocked:)
Sorry for the off-topic.

Thank you :D Do i have permission to run the Church of the Purple Pants here ? I swear it won't interfere haha it will enhance the fanfest (like those pants enhance his anatomy :slink:)
Also, i imagine the collective face of Yuzu team when being asked about jumps is one of these faces

I think Yuzu will use the GOEs he got here to advocate for needing a lutz. If we see it I don't doubt Yuzu sees it.

Yeah, I think it would be the smart thing to just not say anything for now and only talk when all plans are finalized. Imagine him saying now they'll likely go for it (or just say something that gets interpreted that way) and then they don't. With the recent quad hype and all, I don't even want to imagine :palmf:

And welcome back Yata, we missed you!:ghug:

In my country's fs community PPoS has been chosen the worse costume of the season, what's more H&L is up there on the podium too. :disagree: :disagree: :disagree: Hold me tight, and hug me now..................:slink:

Of course it is the worst one! It makes you have sinful thoughts
I bet they like the yellow ruffle or something

Your country's FS community has no taste. Sorry to say!
