Ahhh and here I thought the off season was going to be boring.

Idk about others but I see alot of emotion here.

It's one of my favourite moments of Hope & Legacy, it's beautiful, delicate and graceful. Love it. If that's not pure emotion, then I don't know what it is.

Thank you for the aclaration. It wasn't my intention to bring anything negative to this thread. I just saw the tweet, it bothered me a lot and I wanted to know what all this was about. That's all. :)

It caused quite a ruckus among his fans, sooner or later someone will bring it here, eventually. So no worries ;)

Didn't Yuzu just say in the station tv show that jumping ability doesn't have anything to do with either a young body or experience with age, but requires just right senses and images? Hope Akiko saw that.

And from the translation I saw, she also said that Shoma and Nathan are dangerous to him because they have jumping ability and "skating skills just as good." I'm like, really???:rolleye:

The "not-emotional" comment, oh well. Sure, everyone has their own aesthetics and are entitled to an opinion, but criticizing a different style just because it's not your cup of tea is uncool.

Yessssssss :hopelessness: I love this moment, too.

H+L is very introspective and that may not always resonate with everyone, or maybe it takes some attention to detail to see the emotion. :rolleye:
But I absolutely love it.

I see. Errr. I can take opinions based on not connecting with H&L and thinking Yuzu was less emotionally involved with it because it is such a subtle music, compared to others involvement with their more bombastic music choices/performances. It's an opinion, whatever. But the technical improvement comment... is Yuzu 30 now?

Exactly. I don't mind the comment on his 'lacking interpretation'. Of course I disagree, but I can see that as an honest opinion (despite my better judgement). But the technical stuff is just... at best, it's nonsense. The options are: political move, or Akiko is... not the smartest cookie in the box. I feel like doing her the favor to think the former.

Lol Yata, I'd like to add: Skills: 3,0. Choreo: 1.5.
(And I hope she's not following Dais footsteps too much. The skating comparisons between and Nathan flat out scare me)

And PS: she forgot about Boyang too. I'd think people would remember a 2-time Worlds medalist. Okay.

I'm on my way to painting my 5th (I think) hope and legacy artwork. -so for me, Hope and Legacy have conveyed more emotion than any other program.

@Li'Kitsu - everyone forgets Boyang ... so he has to remind them by medaling at Worlds. Not bad ;)

Her comments are those of a knowledgeable outsider. As such, she wouldn't be wrong in thinking that it may be difficult to add tech content past at 22 years of age. She did, but it was a great struggle wasn't it? --Yuzu is an outlier, a technical genius that comes once in a blue moon.

Yes, I am sure it's all with the best of intentions.
Since she's already doing that, she could of course talk to that other, fellow, Nagoya group skater called Shoma Uno, who is so young and who she praises here through the roof but whose technique is so flawed that his health is going to be affected without any doubt. I am sure it was just coincidence she was propping him up in an article where she dissed Yuzuru.

She should do that in public as well, because it's all with the best of intentions! I'm sure it's coming, tomorrow even!

sorry I'm so clueless, which one is belong to Nagoya or Osaka camp?

all I know Satoko and Marin share the same coach, Mai and Kaori too, and then Shoma has his own coach

I heard most of Japanese skater like Dai, Mao, Kanako, Satoko, Marin and Shoma have issue with underotate jumps

if it's true, hope those coach stop acting so mighty and follow Eteri step for using Yuzuru jump technic to teach her student

seriously tho, it's quite irony when Brian busy make Yuzuru to be less emotional while the other say otherways

I like her too...and still like her, she's more than this one article that I heartily disagree with. 'Akiko, you've got it all wrong about Hope and Legacy, but I still like you'. Besides, she probably hasn't met Yuzu in person for about a year. She probably doesn't have inside knowledge about his training or his technical plans.

Yuzu has been practicing the 4Lz for several years. Everybody and their mom knows about that. There was just footage of it on TV. What an knowledgeable outsider she is then :cool14:
Ehm... huh? How old is Patrick again? Javi upped his SP to 2 quads, that doesn't count? When did Machida actually get his 4T stable again? Sorry, but for the men it is absolute BS to try and wring out a statement like that. Especially about a guy who just upgraded his layout majorily and got historical firsts like first quad-euler combo and first time 3 quads in the 2nd half of a LP a weekend ago. I know you're a polite person and like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but there are honestly limits to everything. A statement like that is either a political move or very, very, very dumb

Nagoya and Kansai are biggest skating capitals in Japan. For generations they have provided top skaters for JSF. It's the same with Moscow and St petersburg in Russia. The coaches and retired skaters from these places are famous and have a lot of power inside their respective federations and media.

Nagoya is the strongest and most powerful in Japan where you can see Mao, Oda, Kozuka, Akiko, Shoma Uno come from....
But surely they're not liking the fact that Japan's only Olympic Gold Medalists (Shizuka and Yuzuru) are from Sendai, a poor city that once lacked money to the point they had to close down their only Ice rink. Should they be reminded that Sendai has the oldest ice rink in the entire Japan?

Yuzuru does not belong to either Nagoya and Osaka, he is typically an outliner in JSF. Of course he is the target for Nagoya group. They have time and time again painted him not so good to the media.

I was blocked by some Japanese for pointing that out, that Yuzuru in fact is treated not so well by a potion of Japanese media and Japanese skating fans and some parts of JSF. They don't want that out.

I don't really understand how anyone can say that Yuzuru will have problems with his tech.. Is he not the man who added a new quad this season (he was the first to land it ever), consistently landed four quads in his free program (not even planned) in the last three competitions, and landed three quads in the second half of the program (just because he wanted to).

How can anyone know all that and think that this is a guy that is at his limits or struggling to keep up with the younger skaters.

I don't get it, why they againts their own people who fought for the same country just becouse those Person not belong to their region?

they treat Yuzu as outlier for that reason? my gosh...

if Yuzu win the next OGM, it'll be the biggest slap on their face for sure

I'm a little sad for Boyang, looks like everyone just pass him over. Hope he will continue to medaling not only at Worlds but Olympics too! Yuzu, Javi, Boyang is my dream podium.

So Akiko joined the dark side of FS  I think we can start counting who will speak like this the most during summer and then give medals. In the french fed style- cheap and ugly.

Political reasons. They have their own skaters to promote, and in this case Nagoya has Shoma Uno.

If I post my whole chat with a Japanese fan who was pretty much frustrated at how some parts of Japanese media painting Yuzuru as some weakling and outdated skater, it would create some unnecessary drama. Just saying that inside Japan, Yuzuru is surely loved. But there's a potion do not like him for political reasons and they have been under-valuing him from time to time. They lie and give out false/misleading statements many times. But of course they're not the majority.

And of course, their article with photoshopped photos to make things not as they are made me laugh too much. How can they fake photos like that, it's so obvious. Chinese fans pointed that out and were furious. :laugh2:

It's not outside the realm of possibility that it is politicking that inspired this article. -a disappointment for sure. :( but this is not something I'd like the thread to dwell on too much. Because these kinds of articles pop up semi-regularly and we can't blow up for ALL of them?
Not when we can be discussing Yuzu's costumes, programs, and hats. To each their own of course.

P.S. I live in the north! Far away from figure skating drama and Yuzu represents for the northern half of Japan. -And Hiroaki Sato.
