Beyond a drive to succeed, I often wonder why some people become famous while others don't. This once again brings that question to my mind. :scratch: :noshake:


Anywho, I dropped into this thread with a few questions and a comment.

1. I haven't reread all the rules since reconnecting with the sport and seems silly to do it right before they change everything. I know in order to repeat a jump, one has to be in combination or sequence. Judging by everyone's jump layouts, I'm guessing you can only repeat 2 jumps of the same type and rotation? I'm guessing this is why Hanyu does only one triple axel in spite of his flip and lutz being weaker? If you do 2 triple toes then pop a quad toe into a triple toe, what happens to the third toe?
2. My understanding of a combo/sequence is that the weight can't shift between the jumps/linking steps. I saw the clip of Hanyu doing a quad into a triple axel. Would this be considered a valid sequence?
3. Does Hanyu normally grow his hair this long? I'm curious if he's following in his idol's footsteps and we will be treated to a Japanese mullet next year
4. I find his face fascinating. While most skaters seem to just look like a happy and not happy version of themselves, Hanyu often looks like a completely different person depending on the situation. Sometimes he looks so fierce and others so gentle. mature then innocent. noble then completely dorky. at moments, he looks like he's 14 and other times he looks... well... 18

For your 1st question, yes. The skater can only repeat 2 types of jumps twice. 2 4T, 2 4S. Usually Yuzuru will have 4L, 4T, 4S 2 times, 3A 2 times. 4T 3T as back up if he fails in one of the other quads. Best exple 2017 4CC

Repeated jumps need to be in combo or lose 30% of BV. Like Yuzuru's 4T repeat

For me, I still dont get the criteria for spin level, as in why droping from level 4 to 3.
