Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

New tweet by Ms Richards about Yuzu on the ice: "Coach Orser in Spain with Javi. Yuzu on his own stroking and testing his ankle. Also some of his step sequence."

I hope is true (but so it seems...). Happy at the thought he should be a little bit relieved because again on the ice. Fingers crossed for a fast and full recovery by Yuzu!

so is this Mrs. Richard the new manager?

Is really this the way Hanyu is treated ? This is a farce.I'm very sorry for Yuzu , he doesn't deserve it.:palmf:

Good to hear of Hanyu back on the ice, but I really hope he doesn't rush anything. I know the OG is a big dream of his, but IMO, better to weaken the pre-Olympic training along with medal chances, than suffer from health problems for the rest of his life. I guess I worry too much...

Yuzuru Hanyu has withdrawn from Nationals https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20171218-00000051-mai-spo
Wishing him a complete recovery!

Guess we all saw it coming. I still had a slight glimpse of hope of seeing him compete but well. It’s best not to risk it and aim to be in the best possible shape for the Olympics.
I hope he recovers well, but I wonder if he will consider having another competition in January? Perhaps just showing for the Olympics could be risky.

JSf officially announces Yuzu’s withdrawal from Nationals on Dec 20th. Although Yuzu is absent, he will included the OG team based on one of rules of representatives : his gold at WC and his world ranking. Because he's no. 1 at World standings and has achieved great achievements so far, such as Worlds 2017 gold, it's certain he'll enter the national team.

Yuzu's comment “In order to make the Japanese Nationals, I have been working hard on treatment and rehabilitation but I have had to give it up. I will work hard from here on out to be in the best condition to practice.”

While not surprising given the update from last week, I can't help but feel a twinge of sadness even if the WD is for the best. Just have to be patient. I hope he's doing well and is gradually getting back on ice. I guess this may well be his first Christmas in Toronto.

I’m really proud of him. It’s a relief he’s not going. I was going to be scared all days of National, knowing he’d compete despite having started practice again recently but not jumping yet. He’s the kind of guy who can easily get his jumps back in a few days because he’s that good, but I’m proud of him staying safe and not taking risk. Beside, we all know he’s part of Olympic team anyway, but JSF wants to be fair and announce all team members (including him) at the same time. That’s the usual way to proceed.

Regarding him doing a competition before Olympics... Too early to say. That will depend on he’s feeling, if he wants to try or if he’ll prefer to keep it all for Olympics (which is quite possible).

In any way, I wish him speedy recovery!

Seeing these tweets (over 8000 tweets with only "羽生結弦"), I realized again Yuzuru has been missed by many people in Japan. They are saying they are very sad and worried, they really wanted to see his performance in Japanese nationals, but they are relieved to know that he will go to the Olympics if he is healthy and looking forward to seeing him there. (Basically, they are almost the same as us :))

Me, too. I am sad to see Yuzuru will be eliminated from Fuji's CM maybe tonight (he is still in CM...). But yes, we have to be patient and I know we can :ghug:

Takuro Morinaga, the uncle with glasses in the video, encouraged me with his prediction. He is an economic analyst and I'm not sure if he watches figure skating often, but sometimes the opinions from non-fans hit me

Morinaga: My prediction is, Hanyu will go to the Olympics without any competition beforehand, and win the Olympics, and receive People’s Honor Award.

Announcer: ...It might be likely...

Morinaga: Hanyu-san is the guy who can do this.

Here's hoping... :cheer2:

More info from NHK evening news: According to people concerned in the federation, Yuzu hasn’t recovered to the state where he can jump at high quality. In order to prioritize the adjustment for OG which is his biggest goal, he decides to withdraw.

So this means that he's able to jump? Well it's a relief, it's normal that his jumps suffer after so much time off ice, but if he can jump I hope it means that the injury is healing well.:drama: (praying)

I was looking at the calendar today and realised that 4CC is only 1 month away, if he is only back on ice for a couple days, it’s hard to say if he could recover 100% by 4CC. But with Yuzu, I guess we won’t know until last mins.

:hap10: cheering for Yuzu and praying for his speedy recovery!

It's how close it is to the Oly Team Event after that it's more of an issue. I think going to 4CC in general would be good, one comp below his belt but if he's doing the Team Event, and I'm very skeptical about him missing that, then I think chances of 4CC are low.

It's either 4CC and no team event or SP (since he has the SB here) in the team event and no 4CC, yeah. I doubt he'd do both events even if he wasn't recovering from an injury and was in the best shape of his life.

I also still think that going to 4CC is better for him if he is recovered and can do run-through by that time, if he is not recovered, he can withdraw. Honestly, I have never been paid attention to the announcement for 4CC this much before, haha. In the announcement on December 24, his name will be called as the third skater for the Olympics I guess, so I'll try not to panic if he is not called as the first representative.
