Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

I don't think he will. What's the point, besides securing a spot for Keiji Tanaka to finish 19th at next years Worlds?

Anothet reason Hanyu is the GOAT: timing his flower ceremony music to strike his pose just as he climbs the podium.

That was epic

No consolation shopping for me today!! My group watched and held on to each other...and my mom grabbed my dad and said "You'd better pray hard that Yuzu wins" (he's not a fan of figure skating) because if he doesn't you'll have a depressed family and an angry me for a week! So he cheered with us.
I'm on cloud 9. :ghug:

Congrats, Yuzuru! You deserve it all. And please get all the rest you need. Your well-being is more important.

"I don't know if it was the best performance of my skating life, but I can say from bottom of my heart that I did my best of today."

(message to the fans?)

"I want to say "thank you" and "I'm back"."

Okaeri, Yuzu, we were all waiting for your return.
So his ankle isn't fully healed and he goes out there and does that?! The world, and ISU does not deserve him, he might have saved it from a meltdown. Now, time for him to heal properly-the injury seems to be more severe than originally him or his team thought, and soft tissue injuries are the longest ones to heal. But Bravo for him to fight through his fears and tackle the challenge with no hesitation.

The thing that makes me the happiest is that he was so happy to be skating and so happy with his performance! It was such a joy to watch!

Selfishly, I would like to see Yuzuru live at worlds, but i would only want him to be there if he was healed and safe to skate!

Yuzu, you didn’t do six quads like Nathan Chen but YOU are the king. YOU are the king of men’s figure skating. You have brought us so much, you showed us it’s possible to have artistry and technical content. You don’t need a program packed full with quads to the brim because your skating has already captured us. Your choreography, artistry and we can feel that you skate with your heart to us not just skating to win a medal. Thank you Yuzu! We are so proud of you and so happy for you. ❤️❤️❤️

Sososo proud! I woke up this morning to those news and sobbed right away, lol! Such a big relief! That second Olympic gold was his goal all along, and he finally tied Button’s record. Like the American legend said on his twitter, records are meant to be tied. :cheer:

I wouldn’t mind if he skips Worlds, for once. Back in 2014 he didn’t and he had a bad back, but now he knows he must be careful. We’ll see in the next weeks how it goes.

I can't believe what a miracle Yuzu has achieved today. I'm still crying from happiness :sad21::sad4:

After the first two jumps I thought: omg this is better than GPF15. Then he skipped the Biellmann and my heart stopped beating. No Biellmann means he still has a lot of pain in his body. No way he's back at 100%...
Next up the 4S+3T combo and I had to cry. Three perfect quads in this condition! After missing the 4T combo he even managed to reanimate 3A+1Lo+3S... mindblowing.

I think that 3Lz at the end was his biggest enemy today. He still has that scarily crooked axis in his take-off from 4Lz. By saving that impossible landing he just might have managed to defeat and overcome the horror from NHK.

Wonderful victory. Just wonderful!! :love::sad4:

His ankle isn't fully healed, hence the issue with the Lutz. I am glad he left out the 4Lo since it might affect his right ankle much more. Still shocked to see an OLD fan who started this fan thread liked a post saying they do NOT respect Hanyu for going for an easier layout.

How about you eat painkiller and start jumping quads 2 weeks before the Olympics then?

Good riddance.

I have no words. I've been crying since he finished his program:cry::cry:I can't imagine how difficult was for him to achieve tthe gold, how difficult these past months were , and he didn't give up, never. Thank you Yuzu, even though you're a bit younger than me, you taught me so many valuable things for life...Take care of yourself now ,please!

Congratulations Yuzuru! Seeing how moved he was and how he cried from emotion was amazing. I'm watching the medal ceremony and I'm sure were going to see another great moment of pure emotion. That's why the Olympics are so much more special!
