One of many interviews aired after his winning, there was the interview I had not seen before. It was in TV show called "バイキング” (I don't know how to spell in this case) and it was given in June of last year in Niigata. He was asked about his future, and said;
Thinking about the peak of a normal male's body, if I consider various sports not only figure skating, it's pretty much its prime is in around the age of 30, with many experiences and well-formed body as well. So now I feel strongly that I will be able to do many different things. I think the possibilities are indeed infinite. If you win the Olympic Games once, you only have an impression of defending it and not challenging anything again. But within me, I am still at the age of being able to challenge more from here, I'm still 23 this season after all. Since the prime will be coming from now, I am not there yet. I can do more.
(Interviewer: I'm looking forward to it, it seems like you are the one expecting the most.)
There was probably something in me like "I could master Loop jump" or "I was satisfied with Loop jump" in the last season, but if child (younger) me saw myself now, he would say "why are you so happy?" because I have come this far in order to do 4A or quintuple jump. When I think about it, I really feel "I still have a long way to go".
