Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Ya, it's "Jin Jin jia you"-> "Jin Jin add oil",

He actually said "tian1 tian1 jia1 you2" which is cute, because he's calling Boyang by his nickname, "Tian Tian" which is the word for day or sky. It's also a pun, because it sounds like Yuzuru is either telling Boyang (aka Tian Tian) to keep it up, or telling him to keep going everyday. I guess I'm spending too much time watching skating things on youtube because it was in one of those Sui Han videos where they mention Boyang's nickname.

Hi ladies, since I see some mentioning about GPF tix do u guys know when they put out only single tickets for the men’s competition? All I see are event packages?

As far as I know, they are only selling all event packages at the moment. Not sure if they will have ticket for single event for sale.

One of many interviews aired after his winning, there was the interview I had not seen before. It was in TV show called "バイキング” (I don't know how to spell in this case) and it was given in June of last year in Niigata. He was asked about his future, and said;

Thinking about the peak of a normal male's body, if I consider various sports not only figure skating, it's pretty much its prime is in around the age of 30, with many experiences and well-formed body as well. So now I feel strongly that I will be able to do many different things. I think the possibilities are indeed infinite. If you win the Olympic Games once, you only have an impression of defending it and not challenging anything again. But within me, I am still at the age of being able to challenge more from here, I'm still 23 this season after all. Since the prime will be coming from now, I am not there yet. I can do more.

(Interviewer: I'm looking forward to it, it seems like you are the one expecting the most.)

There was probably something in me like "I could master Loop jump" or "I was satisfied with Loop jump" in the last season, but if child (younger) me saw myself now, he would say "why are you so happy?" because I have come this far in order to do 4A or quintuple jump. When I think about it, I really feel "I still have a long way to go".

Pino uploaded the video I did partial translation (from 2:20) after the Olympics.

Boy, I will pay money to know Yuzuru´s thoughts on that event.

And will pay good money to see a conversation between Javier, Borser and Yuzuru talking about that event...

I bet he watched it on stream and TV sitting on the edge of his seat. -like all of us. What a crazy, crazy competition. Everyone needs a good rest.

While I was glad for the medalists at WC, I realized again Yuzuru Hanyu was so talented and a great skater. I mean, 6 quads program didn't beat his WR FS and the total of 330 points was not broken after all before the new rules come.

I'll watch H&L at Worlds before I sleep tonight. I miss his beautiful performance.

Oh, me too! Hope and Legacy is so perfect. Whenever I want to really relax and enjoy skating, I watch that.

I agree about the WC. It was really unfortunate that the performances were so uninspired I think mainly due to injury for some and downright exhaustion for all. They really should consider forfeiting the WC in an Olympic year. That said, I missed Yuzuru and Javier so much.

Regarding Hope and Legacy, I too enjoyed this routine very much, especially his WC skate of course. I absolutely LOVE piano compositions, and went on the the hunt for Joe Hisaishi’s music after first hearing the music for this routine. I downloaded Asian Dream Song, View of Silence (my favorite of the two songs used in his H&L program) as well as countless other songs by Hisaishi. I think The Rain is one of my absolute favorites by him.

If permitted, I want to ask where to get tickets?! When I went to Ticketmaster a couple of days ago, there were only a few seats left on the very ends in rows 22 etc. Is there perhaps another source of all event pkgs reserved by other sellers? I would very much appreciate advice! I've not had such trouble so early (in my limited experience) before.

True, lately my estimation of Hope & Legacy, SEIMEI, Parisienne Walkways, Ballade and even Phantom has gone up. There is always little moments in his program that become so meaningful.

I really hope Yuzuru decides to gift us with some new programs as soon as his health has improved.

Being a newbie in FS I felt guilty missing yuzu, patrick and javi too much.
WC performances didn't stir me despite the fact the boys who went there tried their best. It saddens me that grace and artistic movements which attracted me is a bit off.
Hopefully all the atheletes can get their rest for a fanciful new season ahead. Yuzu get well soon and skate for a long time.

Yuzu's programs are all so memorable and special, but the one that stands out the most to me is R&J v1. That triumphant scream right before the step sequence is still one of my favorite moments ever. It's the program that I rewatch whenever I need a bit of inspiration.

I love that program too! That's when I first discovered Yuzu! I called my mother right after he skated and said I just witnessed the skate of the next Olympic Champion and future World Champion....... And the rest his history............what a gift to the Figure Skating World! Yuzu is truly an incomparable talent! I feel blessed to have seen him skate live at Boston World's.

I got the ticket when they were on pre-sale, so I am not too sure what other way you could use to purchase the ticket now. But I do suggest you to join Skate Canada's mailing list, if they have more ticket (or individual event ticket, if any), I guess they will communicate via e-mail (that's how I got the notice for the pre-sale).
With all the events arranged by Skate Canada (so is skate America), the ticket are on sale very very early, like 1 year before the event. You could also keep an eye on the "for sale" thread in Golden Skate Forum, when its closer to the event, some people realise that they cant go due to work or other reason, they might re-sale their ticket there.

Me too. There are multiple times during the last group's performance, I was just yelling: No! No... NO, pls.... Someone like Yuzu, who is a skating nerd inside, must be feeling so hard to watch it too. I was watching it with the Australian SBS commentary, every time when a program ended and slow motion started, the commentator would say: OK, you may wanted to look away now. Its heartbroken.

H&L is definitely a good stabilizer before sleep. Good choice, Yude~ I saw a short video yesterday in Instagram, it was Yuzu and Shae-Lynn working together on H&L, I have never watch that program before, do you guys have the full version of this program?

Now you made me curious about the commentaries from the world about the event last night. Japanese commentators were also kind of shocked and trying very hard to find the words to describe the situation. Honda's explanations were so spot on this time again though.

I saw in German tv, and I´m not german, but at some point someone, don´t remember who, was called Zagitova 2.0...:slink:

I really wonder the heck happened at this event, we have never have a world group final like this before... how many falls there were? 10?
