Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Doubtful. He didn't win the FS at the Olympics, the horror! 🤣

Hahaha that!

But really, I wouldn't be surprised if he's not picked since there can be many varied opinions depending on how they look at it.
It can be Shoma who is the only one who podiumed at every competition, Nathan who won lots of golds and his six quad feat, Adam who made it to Time 100, etc... or someone not from the Men's discipline  I personally will be fine with anything but I dread the drama that may come with it :(

They still have to nominate other persons of the year. So far it's been Yuzu and Nathan. We'll have to see who else they nominate and then we can take bets on who they choose.

Guess we'll have to see. But like I mentioned previously, if they include coaches as well and Brian is nominated, my money is on him!

I'm secretly hoping that someone not from the mens gets it... just to steer the argument away from these poor boys... :slink:

And just curious @yude and @interspectator since both of you are from Japan is Yuzu's look acknowledge there as very handsome?
As for me I find him very handsome ^^.

Not from Japan, but I remember several programs talking about Yuzuru´s look, there was a pretty funny one where they say he has the prefect body-face proportions to be an anime character .
.

Is this what you are talking about?

About Yuzuru's looks, I think he has been considered to be handsome or cute, and "prince like" generally, but after all it depends on person's preference so  One thing in mind is that there is no guy around me who has figure like Yuzuru which I love, and many people in Japan also seem to admire it. Looking at the fans' comments in TV news of the parade, I honestly wanted to hear more about Yuzuru's skating, but as Danibellerika mentioned, those comments must have been cut. If I was asked "How do you like Hanyu?" (Japanese media loooves this question, you know), I would say "His jumps, they are exactly the art themselves. And the spins, so beautiful with delicate arm and finger movements. And his footwork...". But perhaps, media will stop me and say, "He is cute, isn't he?" and I'll say "Of course, he is cute!"

The Ice Network person of the year? Am I reading that right?

Does anyone really care?

I have been wondering about Icenetwork popularity, but some fans of Yuzuru would care, same as they care when Ballade wasn´t in the competition for best short this year...

@Interspectator thank you for the video, would watch it later...

I have a lot to say about IN, and I have a feeling of who will win, but none of it is appropriate for this website.

I think I can read your mind, and I wouldn´t be surprise if that person wins :p

Edit.

Following the development of the events in Toronto, wishing everyone on Yuzuru´s skating home condolences and best wishes for the people hurt

Thank you everyone for answering my question. Nice to know a lot have the same opinion.

So I guess the emperial garden party is all we have left then we might start missing him again. But let's all hold on until the GPF series start.
Yuzu said he wants to compete as much as possible. How many can he participate in anyway? From my understanding he can go to as much as 3. Or he can aim for more?
But I hope he doesn't hurt himself by over competing.
