Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

I'm so glad to hear you guys are okay after the earthquake.

To me the music pieces he picked for Ex for these two years are more or less similar. I'd rather him pick something completely different. And he's done so in the past (change, vertigo, hello I love you, somebody to love, etc). But I still love this new ex a lot so no complain here.

Here's hoping we'll get something different for one of his new programs

... guys? Is this just my impression or do you feel the same?

To me it seems like Yuzu's movements in the opening and finale programs are more... controlled now. He still stands out in the group, but he's not overdoing it that much anymore, no? :scratch2::rolleye:

If females cringe at frills, imagine the male viewers.

Only some females, mind you. From what I've seen most love the costume.

Ah whatever will Yuzuru do, now that "males" are going to hate it? Maybe he's crying in a corner.
Happily he couldn't give a rat's behind what homophobic and effeminophobic males think. And most fans are already quite used to their little macho selves feeling endangered by someone who isn't conforming to gender stereotypes and is just doing his thing.

I don't love all of Yuzuru's costumes by any means but he should indeed do what he likes. If someone's bothered, tough titties.

I like the costume because I can feel and see the wind blowing through flower petals freely , Yuzuru is able to give life to dreams, it can be sakura, Romeo or Etude blue wave, it doesnt matter, he becomes the music and the idea behind the music and he irresistibily involves you in his dream.

Well I don´t really think is his problem.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and some people would like it and some people won´t; that ´s the nature of the "artistic side" of figure skating. Some people would like and take the proposal of the "artist/ figure skater" (named Yuzuru or other skater), some won´t. So I don´t think we should feel offended is some people are liking the costume or not)

By example Elizabeth Peyton´s art that have been posted in here, some of us liked it some other didn´t... well last week I saw a report that one of his pieces ( of Yuzuru) was sold for half a million dollars (this piece) ...

Also I don´t think is good to generalize opinions, not all females are cringing and not all males will cringe.

Even though it feels like A Typical Yuzuru's Program, I loved the new ex. It's just so delicate, vulnerable and personal, it gives me chills, especially extra low hydroblade right to the music accent. Love the theme of spring and cherry blossom. Can't help but feel like it's supposed to symbolize a new beggining and fragility of life. Frills on the costume with the fluidity of his movements give the impression of flying across the ice. Well, what can I say, I love typical Yuzuru's programs, so I don't mind if we have yet another lyrical and gentle ex, they all have a bit different emotions attached to them anyway. I kind of thought he might start breaking his patterns, but with that gala I guess traditions are here to stay and he's going to do something wild and unsual in SP and then go back to his true feelings in exhibition.

@yude Thanks for recalling me.
I just got back to my home country today safe.
A lot has been posted already but I am still gonna give my fan account.
Please bear with it for awhile.
On the final day Yuzu did all his jumps cleanly and at the finale when he did the 4T-3A successfully he pumped his arms in excitement
Sasha is a cute daddy's boy. But there were times he would follow and skate near yuzu. The two of them were so cute doing the piston pose.
During the finale when they are going to do the rounds on the rink he purposely went near javi. And just had those adorable smiley brother moments.
About the costume, it looked great while he was performing. Yuzuru is art in motion guys. I don't regret going. Its going to be a memorable day for me.
Puru, Sasha and Yuzu fan art, I saw it on the counter where the gifts are dropped off. When I saw in my mind I was hoping they get to see and appreciate it. I am happy for the person who made it. His/her work has been recognized.
Yuzu us just so smiley and so adorable. He is so charming.
On the show I met a fellow Hanyu fan from hong kong. She is a pianist and has been teaching piano for years. She said in a musicians point of view Yuzu's movements are in sync with the notes.
His sensitivity to the music is so real.
Ok I wrote and essay already lmao. But all in all Yuzuru Hanyu's skating is healing. And I wish him the best always

Glad you are ok and thank you for fun report! Please have some good rest :)

And this is very nice thing to wake up in the morning

Thanks! Do you happen to have shae lynn's interview? I remember read somewhere that she wants to do Yuzu's ex so that she can try different things. Competition programs have lots of restrictions.
But the pattern we see now is SP-Jeff, FS - shae lynn, EX - DW. Yuzu seems to have better chemistry with Jeff and Shae lynn so I'd rather these two to do his competition program. And if he wants to play fair and always include DW, ex is the only one left. So I wonder when Shae lynn will get to do the ex.

Oh my gosh guys I am having a Yuzuru withdrawal. :gaah:
I recollected more thoughts so I am going to share it again.
After the opening number, Yuzu was shaking his right leg. To ease the tension? Or maybe I was just over thinking his actions lol.
He winked, banged (gun motion finger), waved and blew kisses to the audience. It was way too much for my heart to handle.
I honestly think if he wasn't a figure skater Yuzuru would be a great dancer. Ballet, hiphop or whatever, his gracefulness stands out.
I was so scared to take fancams but I told myself not to regret it. Since the show has a broadcast and I traveled so far not just to get kicked out.

It was amazing to see what the British uncle commentators in competitions usually say, the triple axel or quad jumps out of nowhere.
He just flies. :points: then lands with a sultry look on his face.
I noticed that the ice show didn't have large monitors like concerts. Which is good, because everybody is just looking at the stage.
Well if there was a monitor I didn't notice it. My eyes were fixated whenever he comes out.

Before his solo number, he glided across the rink, did his axis checking ritual in the dark. And I don't know my biased self found it so beautiful.
I mean how can someone just move in the dark and be that gorgeous? :noshake:

The exhibition piece came in too fast for me. I got lost watching him and when he did that Ina Bauer I told myself this is flexibility goals.
The ultralow hydroblade, it better be a lot of PCS points when he tries that in a competition.lol
His spins are just so delicate. He looks really muscle packed to me. For a very lithe built, he is very muscular.

The finale was just all fun. He took a photo with sasha and puru before the father and son left the stage. Hopefully it gets posted somewhere.
When he trolled about not saying thank you. I was like, is he tired today?
Then laughing he said his arigatou line plus a pose I am not familiar but the japanese audience reacted well to it so its probably a popular pose?

After the show I told myself OK, I am gonna fight my way in NHK 2018 or Worlds Saitama 2019 to see him again (If he competes there). :hap93:
