I'm REALLY surprised by how much she has improved so quickly. Her jumps, although still small, are all fully rotated now. Since she does Lutz and Flip from the correct edges, this makes her a big threat. She can definitely make the Japanese Olympic team.
Her debut SP from 2011 was actually one of my favourite ladies SPs from that season, choreographed masterfully by Tom Dickson. I loved her instantly.I first noticed Satoko about 2 years ago (I think) because of her transitions. My goodness, she packed in more transitions than Patrick Chan. I think she will be a star right after 2014.
Very gifted musically, too.
Wow, I think you kind of nailed it. She has the elegance and softness of Ota, and the freedom and energy of Suzuki. All three are amazingly musical and wonderful dancers. She still has the tendency to over rotate. Her problem is she may have a growth spurt this year and it may affect the rotation of her jumps. She does remind me of Akiko mixed with Yukina Ota.
I love the improvement I saw from Satoko too, I also love Yukina, She is so beautiful!
People seem very concerned about the free program. Let me just say this: I have seen it with my own eyes and it blew me away!
Lori and Caro know exactly what they are doing and they have come up with great stuff for this season. Just wait and see

Scheherazade?????????????
Awful news.
I didn't expect that at all after the last 2-3 seasons. I thought she'd come up with something special and unique.
Very, very disappointing.

No, this poster knows Carolina personally so she probably had the chance to watch one of her practices... let's hope that what she says is true!!Says who? Her mother?!
This is probably a dumb question, but I'm not a skater so I've always wondered how skaters learn and remember their choreo after first getting their programs choreographed. Is it written down/recorded/documented somehow? Often these early season showings seem a little empty or incomplete in places, so how is it that skaters fill in these gaps on their own after spending just a week or so with their choreographers? I know many skaters will go back for more sessions and fine-tuning throughout the season, but what do they initially take home?
I agree. I wouldn't say Michelle's Scheherezade was terrible but it definitely isn't among her best FSs. It was solid but not special enough for an Olympic season....
Yu-Na's was nice but nothing special as well. I can't think of anyone who skated to it and really put their stamp on it.
I do think Carolina and Lori will make it something special. As of now, Carolina is the only skater I have 100% confidence in when it comes to having a well-done and captivating program...
Michelle's Scheherazade was actually quite interesting in its earlier Kawahara version before she took out all the choreography.
