oh my god, those jumps Kaetlyn! Beautiful 3lz-3T! and those SS! She deserves the best SS of all ladies right now. I kind of understand, that Canada wants to send Kaetlyn. Sad for Gabby, also think they should have been closer in the FS. But Kaetlyn is such diamond. Very happy for her. Like her much better now, that she's toned down her I call it overexcited presentation style into something more refined.

It is disappointing for her. She's still a little rough around the edges though. And judges just have their favourites.

Canada has two strong skaters in whatever order with Daleman and Osmond. I am afraid Chartrand really wasn't in it. And even with some bad skates right now Osmond and Daleman should will receive SC push. Chartrand better start praying and hoping these two ladies get it together for worlds and shock everyone earning three spots. If Osmond can only skate a clean short and one error long program she could be top 5 or 6. Then Daleman has to be close to earn three spots.

Oh Gaby... i feel for you!!!!! Among the most improved skater in recent years. Just by how much she has physically changed we can see the hard work she has been putting in.

Coming from you artsciboy, we would expect nothing else, irrespective of how Kaetlyn performed.

Same to your response here.

Gabby had the skate of the day. It should have been reflected in the FS results. Fine for Katelyn to have finished first overall. Preach Tracy Wilson!!!

Don't even bother rain, artsciboy has had a "hate on" for years, as per his previous postings. He's got the 'Anybody Other Than Osmond' flu, big time.

And given his astonishing 300 posts since 2004, he is the Werewolf that only unleashes when he fills the need, to "bash and trash".

Nobody was squeaky clean, so I don't think anyone wuz robbed. Even with the falls, I thought the LP was a step up from her previous performances. She's really settled into the artistic side of the program and I think it's a really nice progression for her.

But in international competition two falls is not going to do it. Wonder if Four Continents would be good or bad for her at this point. I'd still like to see her put out a cleaner version of that long before worlds.

Yeah, and Gabby had a couple of problem landings, so the points that Kaetlyn lost for the falls, she made up in other areas. The FS could have gone either way, but overall Kaetlyn is the rightful champion

Here is the thing. Gabby tech may have been a better but not all that much - Kaetlyn had bigger errors but she also had or should have huge GOE's on several of her jumps and elements. So let's say Gabby deserved overall higher tes. However, I think Osmond on the world scene has not been recognized much like another Canadian Joannie Rochette for their pcs. Her pcs are getting like Chan's at least in Canada. She is a very powerful, strong edge skater and performer - a good level up from Gabby so even if Gabby wins tes she should lose overall or at best be close which isn't good enough with Kaetlyn's lead. Judging is bad in all nations. They kept Jason Brown close enough to be in the hunt to go to worlds in the US. Liam could have been buried in the sp in Canada with his errors and the suspender incident which should effect pcs as he stopped skating essentially to deal with the suspenders. But generous markings and he is still up there.

Kaetlyn Osmond

BV 61.32 + GOE 7.11 = TES 68.43
PCS 72.22
Deductions = 2
TSS = 138.65

Gabrielle Daleman

BV 58.39 + GOE 8.91 = TES 67.30
PCS 68.75
TSS = 136.05

Kaetlyn had higher BV than Gabby. She also received higher GOE on most elements but lost big on the falls. She won the TES due to the more difficult elements executed.

She won the PCS deservedly.

And so, my hope that Canada may have 3 ladies in the future fly away. There is no way to have this huge difference between the 3 top skaters. Neither had a good long. Kaetling was mesmerizing in the first half, but full of mistakes after that. Gabby had a couple weird mistakes too. Alaine, continued with her nerves and URs, still the best choreographed program for me. Even my hubby who never watches FS, liked it. Gabby should have won by a very small margin. Kaetlyn's 2 falls should be penalized more than Alaine's URs.

Kim started well. But quickly enough i got looking elsewhere. A lady had skate canada scoring sheets and wwas marking the skates for fun or maybe is she training ? In any case, for a non-expert like me, it was very interesting to watch. On the left, a table. Each line allows to call the element, then there is a box for what happened, then one for goe. On the right, large rectangles for pcs scores. What i liked seeing is that she had shorthand symbols. For instance, a fall is an arrow down. For a step sequence, she would draw a line for straight line or a circle for circular. Spins were fascinating. Positions then an exposant for number of revolutions. Etc. If i saw correctly, she was assigning bullets for elements as well with numbers before goe. I can imagine how tough it is to keep track of what is happening when you are writing down. For instance, that lady never saw larkyn's axel sequence. She wrote 2a and a positive goe. She didnt see the single tagged after the double. Still missed it at reviews since she was finishing her pcs evaluation. Good news. I am playing the guess the goe game and i am pretty accurate when comparing with her. Talking about L A. I think she needs to listen to me. No poto. Potato? Ok. Poto? No. Tamura. Today wasnt her day. One trick poney
with her big lutz combo. Her firebird costume looked like it came from my halloween box of old costumes. However i meant it to be a bee costume. Not a bird one. People next to me wondered why larkyn was crying so harsh. As sarahsynchro would say "she and weaver are ugly criers" but at least kw has poje next to her. Larkyn. Oh well. Yeah people. She is crying because she knows she is top 5 and on the national team. Good girl. Back to tamura. Gosh the potential. I hope she gets it together one day. Alaine is on the ice. She is a bit freer than yesterday. Damn lutz she must be thinking. Standing o. Paul poirier shows up. I think about what i wrote earlier about his hair and then some girl who looks like a former skater touches his hair and i want to smack her. Girlfriend. Do no touch a guy's hair if it looks like it has product in it. Do not. Gabby did well. Combo was awesome. Her rippon lutz is so high. Too bad about the hands down. A few more rough landings. But she smiles big. No idea if she is truly happy but it is enough. Another standing o. Kaetlyn takes the ice. Flip Combo check. 2a-3t check. Lutz check. I am thinking she will be clean. Then bobble spin. Falls on loop. Damn it. What ? She falls on the flip? When was the last time that happened ? She gets the salchow combo so i am happy. She fought. Enough for the win me thinks. Another standing o. Win is confirmed. Sad for alaine but it means that skate canada will have an easier choice. May those two girls earn 3 spots for canada so alaine goes to the games next year. Yes. I end this post with a prayer.

So this the succinct reality of this competition?

Second half of Kaetlyn's LP was not full of mistakes. She had two falls in the program but performed and sold the program like nobody could, with excellent executions of all the other elements and components.

Her 2 falls were penalized more than Alain's URs, and Gabby's mistakes.

I prefer to not pay attention to the marks, as they are completely out of reality.

While the marks determined by 12 specialists have no bearing on a sport based on cumulative marks of a program?

Clean Kaetlyn deserve high PCS. But two falls Kaetlyn won't get this PCS internationally. Falls affect performance and she's not a World Champion (or even medalist) yet to get reputation score. They make her falsely assured she can fall two times in Free Skate and still get almost 140 score. This is just not real. I agree when clean her jumps are amazing though :) And I kind of expected her to have a meltdown in Free. (I'm a bad person, sorry) Didn't expected she will win the FP with this. I could see Evgenia Medvedeva score like that, since she actually is getting reputation score.

Anyway, I think both Gabby & Kaetlyn deserve to go to Worlds, so I'm glad they will get to :)

So... Skate Canada won the inflation game? Or we have to wait for US national to finish to declare their win?

I don't think Kaetlyn or her coach are that naive. She isn't going to be on the world podium with pops either, so I feel rotating and falling is a step in the right direction. Next step...actually landing the jumps. Fingers crossed.
