Well... this does kinda make it glaringly obvious now...
Just likeany of us said before.

I do generally agree with the placement...Yulia isn't exactly having the best season...but the scoring discrepancy is really quite dispicable.

My take is,and unfortunately so....that Yulia's subpar skating this season is first and foremost the biggest factor in all of this. It's very frustrating to see but it is what it is. The powers that be have moved in and politicked making the situation way worse than needed. I'm mean for god sake....Liza was supposed to go to the Olympics and had a terrible season and got nothing like this from the fed. Go back to the Russian Nationals threads from last year and you'll notice many posters who this year said no matter how well Yulia did this year she shouldn't go to Euros or Worlds were the same ones pulling for Liza to save her season at Nationals and get a second chance at Euro's for Worlds. :rolleye: Now imagine this rhetoric coming from insiders of Russian Federation who have money/funding at stake. This is the reality Yulia faced.

I'm not upset though because if she is going to bomb a season this is a good one. In fact a long break and having to sit out and watch a J-Lo program racking up monster scores might be food for the soul. She is almost back where she was a season ago where she was forced to prove herself again and I think/hope it's one of her strengths to do so.

No matter what happens tomorrow her fans will still love her and it will drive the RF nuts. I know I will:yes: Are you with me?

Pff what kind of question is this?
How could I ever stop supporting the girl who made me watch Figure Skating ?
If it wasn't for Yulia I'd never have come here and if she has 20 bad skates and/or unfair placings more, as long as she hasn't announced her definite retirement, I'll stay and cheer her on, like the crazy fan girl I turn into when watching her :cheer::cheer2:

Just heard the news: 6th place for Yulia. My heart is breaking

Nonetheless, I'm still rooting for her in the FS. I just want her to skate that program clean. A medal at this point doesn't matter anymore, a clean FS is a good enough redemption for her.

Liza: ~ + 6
Evgenia: ~ + 11
Anna: ~ + 9

Yulia: ~ 0
Whom it is necessary and how much is raised, who should have been held back.
Etc they all skated without explicit breakdowns and not better than in previous tournaments.

I am wishing the best for Julia for the free and in her next competitions. I believe she has the character and talent of a champion to bounce back. Go Julia!

Adelina get's it:

Olympic figure skating champion Adelina Sotnikova admitted that she always wanted to understand what makes the very young girls to leave the sport, winning the Olympics.

"This is a very large burden of responsibility - to ride and perform when you do not just watched by millions of people, but discuss your every action, your physical shape, your appearance, your results. I'm still older than Tara Lipinski was in 15 years to win the Olympics in Nagano.

Take the same Julia Lipnitsky - it is now only 16. That Julia is not the same, that was a year ago, not so "iron". And people are never iron. They - just people. And all need support "- quoted Sotnikova" Sport-Express. "

I think this "disastrous" season is a necessary evil. Actual skating aside, she just got too famous too fast. It's clearly messing with her confidence, and causing her to set unrealistic expectations for herself. Nowadays if she isn't the gold medalist she's no good in the eyes of critics and those always looking for the next big thing behind the scenes. Sometimes I feel like the haters are actually Yulia's biggest fans, because they always seem to have the underlying belief that she is constantly the one to beat for gold. Weird. As a fan, I feel a bit guilty for not caring about Yulia's placements as much as they do. Yeah, not really.

I truly believe everything will be fine though. I mean Julia isn't the best when it comes to media relations, let's be honest here; she just doesn't thrive under that kind of attention. Let that light shine brighter on those who are elevated by it (Elena, Alena, Adelina, etc) so that Yulia can escape from all the scrutiny for a while. Win win situation for all. Yulia is such a rare treasure, a talent for the ages. It'd be such a shame if looking back, she let this brief downturn in her career break her spirit. It is a difficult transition of course, now carrying the expectations placed on an Olympic champion on her slight shoulders, but I believe she can get through it. I don't think Yulia actually realizes how much she's already accomplished, and what she is capable of accomplishing. When she does, maybe that'll give her the boost she needs right now. Give it some time. And who knows? Yulia is definitely not perfect, but she isn't done developing either. A slower, gradual refinement may be exactly what Yulia needs to reach her full potential, especially since she has already given so much for her age!

 Perfect words!!!

I'm hoping for a good free skate! I've always loved the music for the short program, but the music cuts for the free program have slowly grown on me. Unite - Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us and for translating Adelina's thoughts. These girls are very introspective and observant!

I'm not sure I remember welcoming you to the board although I believe we discussed Sima and Zhenia becoming seniors at one point. So I will do it now. Welcome Mat

Are you Russian?
