2015 US Nationals Senior Ladies FS Jan 24

I thought Gracie showed incredible fortitude and put on a very credible performance. Loved her AWA Ashley. I would love to see Gracie really skate up to her potential -- I love her look on the ice and her jumps and speed and spins. But full credit to Ashley for great performances here.

Come on. We expect some inflation at nationals. No big deal.

That wasn't "some inflation", it was like 15 points of inflation. The definitely underrotated Salchow was ignored (the 3Toe was as well, but I'll be nice there) and PCS + GOE's that make her look like Kwan and Cohen combined.

yeah... 10 minutes ago, I was all about it...but then she opens that mouth & I go right back rolling my eyes at her...

EXACTLY.

She is so annoying. She is ungracious in winning and in losing. Someone said that she's got the attitude of a champion. Her attitude is no different than it was when she was losing at home and at the Olympics. She gave a fantastic program and then tried to act like she's been doing that all along.

She's in denial, always. Guess we'll have to deal with her a few more years <sigh?.

1. That's only one comment, one time. If you want to talk about a bad attitude, I expect a more wide ranging spread of comments.

2. She said it was nice for her to make the team last year because it showed the Fed supported her. I don't view that as entitled no. though it was dumb to say out loud. Entitled would be 'I deserve X because I am the best. The fed should support me bcause I am the best.'

Have you got anything else? Or do you just dislike her because she made the Oly team over Mirai?

ETA you added to your post and are referencing a different thing. Can you please link? I have not heard/read it so can't comment at this time.

It's somewhere over on FSU. And everyone over there ripped her comments apart.

My dislike for Polina doesn't come from the fact that she was picked over Mirai last year. My dislike for her comes from her skating, and we're all entitled to our opinion, but I'm just not a fan. Her jumps are barely squeaked out; she's too gangly; she's slow across the ice; her music and packaging is such a bore. Her being picked to the Olympic team is really secondary to all of this, and thus, I think Polina was way overscored last year at Nationals.

Congratulations to all medalists.

I still think though that Gold is the best skater that USA has, at the moment. She is not fully developed yet, and she needs more confidence, but IMO she is it for the future. I believe in Polina too, if she can survive the growing pain which I think she will.

Not counting Chen yet, but she seems very strong too.
 I think so too. Graice has good skating skill and big jumps, good spins, it's just she need to settle her mentality. She's still on the world team for sure.
Congrats all the ladies for their good skates.

Mariah Bell also qualifies for Jr. worlds as well.

Woot! I have seen very few ladies, but *her* SP, and now LP, I'm loving it. :party2: Also loving seeing Rohene and his fab hair and sunglasses in the K&C; go Team KoRo!

Sabinfire, THANK YOU SO MUCH for the live feed! I didn't catch everything, but I caught the final group! Now I get to watch it all over again on tape delay this time! :)

Thanks for watching with me everyone! Going to bed.

Congratulations to Ashley, that was truly inspiring.

Still not over Mirai. Another wound to heal.

Good night.

I was never a big Ashley Wagner fan (and to be honest I still don't think I will be), but congratulations to her on the wonderful performance! The program was engaging throughout and she delivered.

Also, is it just me or did Gracie look like she was walking a little too fast out of the building (i.e. avoiding reporters)?

Aw. Nice to see Ashley and Gracie chatting and smiling backstage.

I know I say glib things sometimes that could be taken as negative, and I am definitely the fashion police, but people on this thread are such haters. Can't we just be happy for the skaters who did well? As for Ashley's attitude, I feel like THANK GOD someone finally tells the truth.

Guys keep Sochi out of this thread. Don't make the job hard for the mods. Adelina is not at U.S. Nationals.

Thank you! I tried my best. :)

500+ viewership now, for anyone interested in numbers.

Thank you sabinfire for sharing the stream with us!! It was a really nice competition, worth watching till the morning. Ashley was just perfect! Last season I had lost some of my love for her but it began to grow again since the GPF free skate. Now I'm sure I love her so much  She is so special, such a fighter. She is not only gaining her national title back but also proving that she is one of the strongest candidates for Worlds title in Beijing!

Karen Chen  How nice her senior debut was!

Mariah Bell  Samantha Cesario  What a comeback for these two!
