Slow Motion Jump Editing (AKA: Sam's Jump-a-ma-tron)

It's as if the program would suffer without the jumps. I kind of wish she would have stayed with the original look she had with the black outfit from earlier this season but that really is of little importance. She is getting it done this season

Oh really? I thought you were saying recently that you believed she had one of the most balanced programs this season? Maybe I misheard that one.

Anyhow, I agree, definitely one of the top Russian's coming out of Juniors this season.

I just meant the jumps looked so natural and easy that they lend themselves quite easily to the program. I do think her FS dislplays a perfect balance of technique and artistic movement to music but in the end I'm not to be taken too seriously about these things.

Ahh, but you know how I hang on to your every word. ;)

I am curious about the 'dislikes' on the Evgenia video. Is it because people don't care for her style? All the 'tano jumps? The way the video was edited? Or maybe the crazy experimental-electronic music that was used? (I have to admit, I was hoping to alienate folks with that one, but I do love that track... and the composer is the son of Soviet Union immigrants, so there's an East Slavic tie-in somewhere.)

amazing Jumpamatron from sabinfire. Joshua's 3A is perfection. everything, including, head position in the air!
I much prefer Radio's toe jump technique than Evgenia's:yes:

Thanks! Yes, she's got a bit of work to do...

Now what should I do next?

I might start doing some spins :) Ya know....the Jumpamatron's close cousin.....the Spinamatron.

I'd really like to look at some of Yuzuru's jumps too but I haven't gone on an extensive footage search. For some reason the GPF footage I downloaded at 1080p is blurred even before editing :confused2:

Maybe Yuzuru's jumps at WC 2012? There are plenty of HD videos of his performance in Nice out there on the internet.

If you're doing a Spin-a-ma-tron (or Spinamatron?), it would be neat if you could do side-by-side spins (would be cool with the jumps, too although I'm thinking spins might be easier). If there were a way you could compare, say, Sasha Cohen's spins with Julia Lipnitskaia's, that could be interesting.

Or Stephane Lambiel with Daisuke Takahashi.

Or...

I know nothing about video editing software so I'm probably suggesting something that isn't possible--or at least not with hours and hours of work...:hopelessness:

Either way, would be neat to see even one skater at a time doing various spins.

yes, even in slow motion it would look double faster than some of real time ones

MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAX

4S-3T from US Nationals pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease

Actually also, please, Artur Gachinski 3A from 2012 Euros...

Yulia's spin in slow motion PLEASE!!!

Wasn't sure which spin you were referring to (although I imagine it would be the famous I-spin she does near the end of her programs), but she has plenty of beautiful spins. Also wasn't sure which performance, or the short program or free skate...

I was hoping Sam would have posted a 'Spinamatron' video first, but I think I went overboard tonight and made a 6+ minute  video of Yulia's spins from both the SP and FS at her last event this season, Russian Nationals:

Yulia Lipnitskaya Spinamatron (up to 720p HD available)

Some of the real-time fast spins are a little blurred when slowed way down, but other spins come out almost crystal clear at super-slo-mo (2:30 mark, or 6:05...)

That was nice. My favorite spin is her hyper Beillman or Needle spin as some call it but what I find the most impressive is how her blade on her free leg never touches the ground during the broken leg variation just before her I-spin. It gets so close but never touches. I sometimes find her donut spin a bit awkward these days but the ending position is akways gorgeous IMO.

Sorry I can't contribute as often but TBH I sit in front of my computer maybe one a week and usually most of my posts are from my phone if I get a spare second.

Thx again :)

Truly one of the best triple axel ever. Love how he still has at least another foot of air-time before he lands.

It truly is amazing how her free leg comes within centimetres of the ice but never touches.

So, the Spinamatron is a success! I expected the video to rack up more views during prime-time in Russia, but it hasn't even been 24 hours yet since the upload and already it's already received many 'likes', and Google Analytics is estimating the actual view count near '500' (public counter is a big lagged behind actual count)! This is a much better first day than any of the Jumpatron videos I've posted!

Either that, or Yulia still has a rabid fanbase, unparalleled by few other skaters (particularly other Russian skaters)... ;)

 Her positions are even more unreal in slow-motion.

Is this music from Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy? It's giving me major flashbacks to my teenaged years.
