I think the tech judges wanted to make sure they would be underscored enough to go into 2nd or lower behind c/b. They started at 37.78 and finally got 35.28 enough to put them in 4th.

Well, at 4CC, W/P were a little over two points behind C/B after the SD, but still won overall.

And P/C have a great FD, so I think they can move up.

That's what I'll be hoping for, anyway.

It's actually a good score for P/C and they have the best FD. I think they will win. Which makes me sad for W/P. After that .. I would have had the shibs over chock and bates for sure.

But who knows what might happen. May the best team win. No falls!

Papadakis and Cizeron did not skate all that well tonight. Twizzle error and several other bobbles, tentative throughout. This SD is not their strength. That score is deserved. But what isn't deserved is the Shibutanis behind them!!!!

I have to agree with this, all things considered. It's not a great DANCE, no matter how well they perform. Honestly I'd have them around 6th or so.

What I'd like to know is what shenanigans went on that an extremely overwrought C/L are in third with that PD.

It's not even that P/C's scores are incorrect, it's that this entire competition was judges so so terribly politically. I do not see one bit how the placement are justified. I would have... Well I'm not exactly sure the order, but C/B, S/S, P/C and W/P within 1-3 points of eachother, followed by I/Z and C/L within 1 point of eachother, and I would have none of them at 73 goddamn points. BBBBBBSSSSSSS. Ice dance you are killing me.

I'm very interested in studying the protocols for this. It is not the outcome I expected.

I suspect a lot of the disconnect will be found in Levels on steps. Recent articles included quotes from Igor and Evan concerning the extreme amount of work they've invested in the steps, trying to work out Level 4's.

If that's the difference, then good for them. They earned it.
