2015 Worlds Short Dance March 25

I don't know if I can agree with that. I think Igor is a politicker par excellence, but the USFSA?

Then again, I'm no expert on conspiracy theories and cabals and the like, so here's the salt shaker. Take what I say with it. :)

It's not about conspiracy theories, and frankly I don't care that much. All powerful Fed's do that, and USA is among big 3/4 FED's in the World. Sometimes it's not even intentional. It's like asking a "mom" to judge "their children". It's quite normal. Well, within limits. ;)

The USFSA?! Lol I love you Alba but the US couldn't politick to save their lives... now Igor on the other hand....

Igor too, of course. I'm not counting him out at all. But to think that USA can not make, or don't know how to make politicking, it's far from reality. I think you (I mean in general) pay too much attention to what's written or said in the media about this, and how they like to present themselves.

@All: By the way, you don't need to make pacts with other for each competition, or even season. It's suffice if one couple is taken as an example, in various seminars with the judges, and presented as the best and to be taken as an example, over and over again. Judges are human beings, just like everybody, and they can be influenced. It's hard to get rid of that.

There is a mistake in the protocols for the Shibs. They got all the KP in the second PD, but only got L3.
I wondered about KPs and L3 too. This is what I found in the handbook for Technical Panelists:
Category:Ice Dance
Subject:Pattern Dance Elements and Partial Step Sequence
File name:Handbook for Technical Panels 2014.docx
Page 15 of 103
Version: 2014 D – Pattern Dance Elements and Partial Step Sequence
Date:31.7.14

Characteristics of Levels
(source: Communication 1860)

Level 1: 75% of Pattern Dance Element/Partial Step Sequence is completed by both partners

Level 2: Pattern Dance Element/Partial Step Sequence is not interrupted more than 4 beats in total, either through
Stumbles, Falls or any other reason
AND
1 Key Point is correctly executed

Level 3: Pattern Dance Element/Partial Step Sequence is not interrupted more than 4 beats in total, either through
Stumbles, Falls or any other reason
AND
2 Key Points are correctly executed

Level 4: Pattern Dance Element/Partial Step Sequence is not interrupted at all,
either through Stumbles, Falls or any other reason
AND
3 Key Points are correctly executed

I thought the Shibs skated well so I was curious about how tech folks evaluate levels. This is for informational purposes only, it does not reflect the opinion of this poster;)

probably this has come up earlier. I may have names mixed up but is the ATS the same name as the young rising star in US ice dance? trains in Detriot area? Weird that there would be 2 US on the tech panel and one would have a son tied to one of the main coaches...

Any updates on what happened with Zhiganshina/Gazsi? Why did they withdraw? And Stepanova--what happened with her knee? I didn't notice it being cut (and the replay didn't show anything either).

For the pattern dance, the key points are indicated with "Y" for a key point achieved, "N" for a key point missed and "T" for a key point achieved, but with one or more steps/edges not being held for the required number of beats.

For the Shibs I don't know. Either is a mistake with the level, on the protocols, or one key point.

From the men practice session it seems the ice is not in good quality and coaches have complained. :disapp:
Maybe that's why so many ice dance teams did not okay?

I thought Ponomarenko was ATS for USA also, but no. He is an ISU Technical Specialist for Russia, although in this competition he is AST. Anyway, you are right. I wouldn't choose him in competitions where Igor is involved.
I'm not accusing him of being dishonest or anything, but there is a big conflict of interest.

Zhiganshina/Gazsi out of the Worlds due to food poisoning, says their coach Rostislav Sinitsin. http://rsport.ru/figure_skating/20150325/817749844.html

Alex felt nauseous since yesterday evening, had fever, blood pressure jumps. Couldn't skate at the morning practice, tried skating in the warm-up, but they decided against taking the risk.
They are a bit upset that they weren't able to finish their career on a higher note, and still undecided what to do next. Alex is planning to go back to school, maybe will start coaching. Nelli wanted to try skating with another partner, but it's still up in the air. They are definitely not planning to continue skating together.

I just realised that I have missed the whole short dance... :bang: I thought it would start later :slink:

But anyway, congrats to C/ B :cheer: I love them!

She definitely had two bloodstains, but I thought the stain behind her calf was the blood from her knee smearing on the other leg?

I don't know, it could be. I don't understand what happened though. She doesn't have the stain from the start.

If i had my way, no one wouldve scored over 70. That score range is strictly reserved for D/W and V/M ;)

I wouldn't be agree more.
Maybe it is only to prevent V/M to return...... What they could get if they return? 10,3 for Skating Skills, Performance, Choreo etc.? Or judges would be ready do decline the points of the others ( I doubt they would....) It is pity.
I really want them back. I don't have the feeling they've "done it".
Strange to say that being 2x World and Olympic Champions, but they had been underrated somehow because of a mystirious reason. Time proved already how great they have been.

The scoring as a whole is overinflated. It's patently obvious that NONE of these teams are at the level that Marlie and Voir were, but TPTB want to insist they are and All Is Well and Nothing's Changed by overinflating ALL the scores.

It's the Emperor's New Judging System.

I totally agree with this. Granted, I haven't watched the skates yet (haha) but these guys are not at V/M D/W levels to be casually hitting 72+

If V/M do return, they'll probably end up [finally] getting the perfect score.
