2015 Worlds Ladies Short Program March 26

I find Elizas 3A impressive and the whole programme was much better than Adelinas in Sochi IMHO...As i'm a big Yuna supporter i'm proud for Eliza anyway...the real russian figure skating queen...

Geez, she sacrifices like 5 seconds of potential choreography. Fine, it's telegraphed, but that was reflected in the +1s. The runout was great, the rotation was there, and it's a freaking triple axel.

I love how Tukt does the first 3A in ages by any lady other than Mao and people are quick to say "telegraphed"/"not ideal landing", etc. Geez people, what Liza did was a huge achievement... first woman to do a 3A and a 3-3 in an SP (as far as I know, Mao never achieved this).

Also, think about where Liza's has been coming from. She wasn't even expected to make it beyond Russian Nationals, and sooooo many people had her off their radar... and now she not only comes into Worlds as a favourite after winning so many competitions (including the GPF), she adds a triple axel in her SP and nails it. The haterade is stroooooong with some of you people. :rolleye:

Mao was never allowed to achieve this, because of the stupid rules at the time, that prevented her from attempting both the 3a and 3-3 in the sp.

Okay, so right when I woke up I went to check the results and I heard Liza landed her 3A! and a 4-triple SP! WHOOP WHOOP!!!!!!!!!! Liza is now the 6th woman I think to land a 3A cleanly in an international competition!

Just saw all the SPs of the last two groups on Eurosport and I must say I didn't think the judging was that bad at all. Obviously there's always that half point here and there that you could have given or could have taken away but overall standings seem pretty accurate to me. Maybe I was influenced by very uncritical commentators (of the judging). But they are both ISU judges so I generally think they provide great inside.

In any case I enjoyed many of the programs and hope the ladies refill their energy to come back out on the ice even stronger for the LP.

I think what is most impressive is the courage it takes to do a 3A in the short program. She didn't need it, why not play it safe? Good for you Liza!

Just think, if she would have done a 3F-3T instead of a 3T-3T and a FCSp4 instead of a FSSp3, she would have gotten 79.54 points! Yes I was looking at the protocol and doing some calculations like I sometimes do! At this rate, she'll break the SP WR next season!

Bummed I had to miss it happen (I mean like livestream) cause I had to sleep. Hopefully I'll stay up to watch the ladies FP....

Congratulations to Liza! Beautiful 3Axel that I could watch on the jump-a-ma-tron all day.

Mao was never allowed to achieve this, because of the stupid rules at the time, that prevented her from attempting both the 3a and 3-3 in the sp.
She was allowed for the latter half of her career; the problem was her 3-3 wasn't secure enough until last season to even consider attempting it. But it is true that she was prevented from attempting a 4-triple layout before 2010. A fact that I resent to this day.

I noticed that too....didn't seem to help her really.

Alaine Chartrand placing below Gracie and Anna after SP is SURREAL.

I know she wasn't clean, but just take your time, play those three vids one after another on yt and... :slink:

Lena was sick. I don't think it's been brought up at this board yet. 38C (100.4F) was her temperature before the competition. Noolan wrote this at Lena's fan fest page:

Oh my, it seems like Lena got sick. She says she wasn't feeling good at the morning practice, but her temperature was okay. Then on the way to the actual competition it went up to 38 Celsius. She says it was the toughest competition so far for her, she felt tired the entire time.

Hope she gets better for saturday :)

Not impressed by that 3A from Liza. Badly telegraphed, poor air positions and a scratchy landing. Still not bad considering this is her first attempt at a major tournament and at Worlds BTW.

Really? I don't mind a telegraphed jump if it's a rare jump that only 6 other women had landed in competition and its your first time doing it. I'm sure the jump will get better in time. But its fully rotated and was clean. I especially don't mind it because all the other jumps were amazing too.

I feel differently about a telegraphed solo 3 lutz versus telegraphed triple axel for a woman.

So true. I don't care if she used the whole length of the rink to set it up--it was a triple axel! And a gorgeous one, too. This is the most technically difficult ladies short program of all time, isn't it?

First woman to land 4 triples in a short program. Ever. I would imagine she could someday add in 3lutz/3toe instead of 3toe/3toe. And since she has all the triples, she's someone who will truly benefit from this jump.

You're right, of course. Mao had the balls to do the 3A is which a lot more than any of the other ladies of her era could say. I'm hurting over Brooklee and should not have said that.
I don't know, my love for Mao is eternal and I had a good chuckle at your comment.

If she had that 3T fully rotated and 0 GOE on that combo jump, she would have been in 5TH place! She's possibly the future of Canadian ladies!

Is sky fly okay? I haven't heard from him/her? Gracie and Ashley can still come back. Though if Anna also improves and the Japanese ladies stay where they are USA could be in trouble in losing their three spots. Lots of pressure on them and Chartrand now to try to get Canada two spots. nice performance by Li though no real s urprise this is China and with all that positive feeling I don't think we are shocked. Will Liza do a triple axel in the free?

Liza!!!:jaw: Wicked! Now that is the way to win a championship. Ashley...:cry: I don't think Sky_fly is still here!

I agree. The judges love Gracie and continue to over score her no matter how she skates. And unfortunate for Alaine she does not have the rep and is not from one of the top countries in Ladies skating. Look how long it took Joannie to get the marks she deserved.

Woke up to see a lot of bitter comments about Liza's 3A.....it is an amazing achievement for the ladies, but some people just cannot help themselves but to hate because Liza apparently is "surpassing" their favorite skater.

Just to add, Liza's 3A was so effortless i thought she was attempting a 2A :p
