2015 Worlds Ladies Short Program March 26

Can we PLEASEEEEEEEEEE calm down and act more mature here like the ladies and gentlemen we are.

Look I haven't seen the whole thing due to that I had to sleep to get ready for school. But I did watch Liza's, Alaine's, and Polina's SP on YouTube. Even IF I was able to watch the whole thing, I still would have not complained like some of you are. Because it's pointless. Nothing can be done about it. We got to move on. It's done, it's over with.

Sometimes I amused how I act more mature in threads like these than some of you. I'm not trying to make fun of you or offend any of you guys here, but some of you are acting...well not how we're supposed to be. If someone I'm rooting for got a worse score than I thought they should have gotten, I'm not going to complain. Sure, I'll say, "I thought they were going to get higher." But I'll move on. No point to keep focusing on. Because then it'll make me not be able to focus on being excited for the rest of the competition.

Those are my 2 cents.

I'm sorry, I was confused if you were being rhetorical. An ounce is a unit of measure (ie. 16 fl ounces of water).

No I was serious. English is not my first language and not even second.

Thank you everybody for your explanation. :)

There is joy in immaturity. I love excuse to not have to act my age. Hell, I think bars should have McDonald style ball pen obstacle courses!

I often wonder how many of the winning programs, some beloved, from yesteryear could possibly live up to all the scrutiny.

I still feel sorry for Korpii. That was just painful to watch. And I feel badly for Gracie. She had a horrible LP at 4CC and then a horrible SP here. The girl is under so much pressure to be the next american ice princess. I think they are trying pour her into the wrong mold. Right now her skating leaves me cold and I wonder if it's because she is trying so hard to be something she isn't. I feel badly for Ashley Wagner too. I think she was under so much pressure. None of them are Katrina Witt. Now there was someone who looked pressure in the face and spit in it's eye. I'll always like her for that.

One of the news reports was titled : American ladies flop. Being in the top 11 hardly qualifies as a flop imo. Too much was expected of Wagner based her US national's performance. If not with Frank, I would guess Gracie would be ranked a lot lower. The way her team packages her makes her look like a skater from a way back era, i.e. not current.

Or an Ikea ball pit. There isn't too many things that couldn't be improved by an Ikea ball pit. Like waiting in line at the dmv.

I watched the entirety of the ladies competition last night (it was like running a marathon) and it definitely had it's ups and downs.

Liza T: Wow! I mean, wow. That 3A was superb! After she hit it I could see the focus on her face as she zeroed in for her next two passes. I thought she gave a lot of energy and personality to her footwork as well. I don't particularly care for her program and she's not that great of a skater IMO...but she is one of the best technicians this sport has seen in a long time. So much respect for her. I do think her PCS were a bit too high (mid 8s on almost everything?) but she's rightfully well in the lead. As long as she doesn't have a total and complete meltdown in the FS, this title is hers easily.

Agreed, but Liza's going to jump her way past the current WRs, and possibly to the next 4 World Titles and the 2018 Gold. Lawd.

Just caught up with this via my Eurosport recording. Squealed aloud at Liza's 3A, it looked so good, and she made it seem so easy. For some reason easier, to me, than I ever saw Mao Asada jump it.
Sure hope Anna is okay, although she did seem fine after the skate, but that fall must have caused a lot of pain. It looked so scary.
Also very happy with how well the Japanese ladies did as well as Zijun Li, and Kanako Murakami's joy put tears in my eyes. A happily smiling Kanako Murakami's always does that to me, I don't know, maybe it's because I'm used to the Japanese being rather reserved, so this always catches me off guard. Love it. :-)
Shame about the American ladies, although Polina Edmunds did rather well.
It'll be a very interesting FS!

I mean like on how some of us are being sour pusses and talking bad about other skaters and not accepting the scores and such....That's what I mean.

I made a video slowing down Satoko's jumps. Honestly.....judge for yourself but I didn't see any reason for any UR's this time except maybe the second jump in the 3z-3t but from the angles I hade nothing was clear so I'll go with the Tech Panels myself. I wish I had an HD copy because I had fun with this one and couldn't resist adding some extra footage instead of simply using the jumps. Thoughts?

If there is an issue with viewing due to the copyright of the music I can reupload it for anyone with a different song.

Thank you Sam, the Flip is definitely pre-rotated. I have screenshot frame by frame. Like this: http://www.mediafire.com/view/8o6bb7b8g6i69zk/Satoko 3073.jpg
And even if the panel is lenient (too lenient), there should be Zero GOE on all of those jumps.

If it were me, UR on the FLIP, zero GOE on both 3-3 and 2A.

I enjoyed that Sam.

I agree, it was borderline (like if she delayed the rotation off the ice further, it would have been UR), but at that point, you give the benefit of the doubt.

Wait, I keep hearing Anna Pogorilaya had a bad fall. What happened?

She landed 3lz-3t okay then fell sideways onto her hip and banged her head against the ice on the 3lo, it was nasty to watch and looked really painful, she was clutching her back afterwards. The poor girl is already dealing with a foot/ankle injury and now she appears to have hurt her back. Not sure if she will/should skate the FS at this point.

CBC showed Chinese rice cake (possibly outside the ice rink) during the break. I really really really miss that little street food.

Gracie Gold: "It’s always hard to skate after a great performance, but I had higher or equal scores before without a triple Axel, so I think that score didn’t scare me out." With all due respect, when and where?

Never. Her ISU PB is 69 and even at US Nationals her highest SP score was a 72. She's never come close to a 77 unless it was at some obscure summer competition no one heard about. She must have misheard the score.

I think the flip is clearly UR.
