Skaters on Team Japan

So Japan got 2 spots at Worlds 2016.

What about next season GP, how many Japanese skaters can compete? This season we have Yuzu, Machida, Mura, Kozuka and Murakami in GP events.

I think that ask Yuzuru to keep the three spots is a very tall order.

He practicly had has one month training. It´s miracle he got second.

It's not one month, it's 2 weeks at most I think. They said he trained 1-2 hours per day and 3 time per week.

I'm proud of Team Japan.
All the girls did their best and achieved better scores than all season. Whooppiiie! Satoko will be taken seriously now by judges and the skating world.
-And she will like that because she is a serious girl.

The guys...well, I'm most proud of Yuzu. He was much better than I had any reason to hope for, and he will keep the fire burning to dethrone Javi next year.
Kozuka did well in the FS, so kudos for that. :cheer2:
Mura, sigh. -His 4Ts are wonderful. It was good to see them.

Can a japanese fan confirm what the media is reporting? Is somekind upseating that will pin the lost down to Yuzuru... I think that he did his part.

I don´t know what Kozuka and Mura are going to do for the next season... Both are the most senior active members of Team Japan, and while Mura is somehow new for the spotlight but he already has a family and he needs results if he wants to keep receiving support, but Kozuka has being around for a while and it seems that it his mind the one hurting him, he is kind of Japan´s Jeremy Abbott.

Some are slightly disappointed, but not negative. At least the ones I've read so far.

My friend who is half Japanese told me the same. :slink: it seems the media expected nothing but gold.
Yuzu is being treated like Yuna now. Anything less than gold and the media won't be satisfied.

Most of the headlines are that he was unable to repeat his title. They do mention about his hardship if you do read the article, but the headlines are such.

I think there was one newspaper that used the headline "Isn't silver nice? (or maybe better translated into "Silver is good") which many fans appreciated.

JSF needs to rest their top skaters or reduce their ice shows so that they can rest, recover and train fully if they want them to have a chance at gold every time.

I don't think so. Serious media is praising him for what he achieved at the Worlds after a season full of painful experiences. His condition was not the best and that's it. No one is to blame.

So far nothing bad about Kozuka/Mura which is good....? :hopelessness:

Oh, sorry about that. Just my narrow-minded impression from glancing through the Japanese news. Anw, being an Olympic and World champion and being some sort of the national symbol is still a huge pressure to bear, so I hope he'll be treated more kindly than Yuna and Mao.
