Johnny is Johnny, meaning doing whatever he wants and that's partly why I'm a big fan of him.Outrageous, not tasteful, was probably exactly what Johnny was going for.
I liked every costume of Yuzuru's in his senior caree except one so I think Johnny's designs agree with Yuzuru's style. Besides, it's not like Yuzuru's a mindless puppet, Yuzuru himself is into this style. I remember thinking that the colorful rhinestones on the R&J2 costume were an overkill (I loved the boobskirt though, in case somebody missed the first million times I said it lol) but then I read that those rhinestones were alk Yuzuru. So if somebody needs to be blamed for the costumes, it's Yuzuru. He does what he wants.
And since the first POTO costume was brought up, I got an impression that majority of fans were uncommonly in agreement about loving it. Very Yuzuru. It's such a pity it was retired so soon.
It seems that Yuzuru knows what he likes and there's lityle chance for some great change in the future. I sre am enjoying the crazy costume ride.
Same for me, I wouldn't want the kid not liking his own costume, lol! If Yuzuru likes this style, then good for him. The only issue I had with Yuzuru's costume was the 2010-2011 LP one. While I liked the general design, I always thought it always felt off with his body lines, especially the upper chest part. Too bad, because the colours were nice.

Yes, but Yuzu-wise it is not what his Federation is paying for. Yuzuru is a top athlete and no other coach could understand him better than Brian. Especially when it comes to jumps and that is what Yuzu was sent to Toronto for. Jumps and skating skills. Those are his main armor. I undestand Brian cannot be available 24/7 but he should spend the most time with Yuzu than other coaches.
Right, he should spend more time w/ Brian, but it's also one of the downs of training with a coach that also trains other high-level athletes in the same discipline and picking a coach is something that athletes think through. Both Yuzuru and JSF must have known beforehand that a situation like this could present itself, they surely knew what they were getting their (back then) future leading skater into. And sometimes, it's good that he spends time with other coaches that focus in other aspects in order to make his skating more complete. For example, Tracy is good at making the step sequences look more refined, and the edges deeper, she pays attention to detail (something that will help Yuzu a lot when Patrick comes back since that's where he had the edge). And it's not like the coaches know nothing about Yuzuru, since he trains there everyday. But Brian is not one to leave one of their students abandoned in favor of another, he must have made appropriate time for Yuzuru, specially to make up for the lost months this season.
On other notes, we made it to 1300!!

It's true that he had always found Johnny's performance as spectacular thanks to his costumes and expressiveness. And I never said Yuzu was a puppet.
And she travels a lot too and is a commentator for Canadian (?) TV showing competitions. So it's not like Brian's out and Tracy is available all the other time.
Yeah, she's out often too. It's one of the downsides of where he trains. Worse case scenario, I would really like it if he worked with his choreographer (hopefully) while they're gone. But well, as long as he stays trains in Toronto, someone would be watching him, much better than training alone in Japan like he did for WC.

Yes, they have quite the staff in Toronto. I remember Wilson also traveled with him before when he did some of his old programs. We'll see how Papa Brian has his sons in GP events next season. Since Javier and Yuzuru can't be at the same events together (unless they both qualify for GPF, of course), chances are that Nam can be with either one of them. Of course, we can't forget the other skaters working with Brian too (like Elizabet in JGP events), but let's wait and see. :yes:

I'm not sure why coaching time has suddenly become an issue? Javi has been going to Gran Prix for years and Nam Junior events. I would hesitate to say how Yuzuru's training time should be managed (time with Brian versus Tracy versus others). I think Yuzuru receives far more than jumping and skating skills coaching. He said Brian's most valuable advice came when he became Japan's #1 and was uncomfortable in that position. Also, dealing with the pressure at Olympics, etc.

On topic of ice shows I hope to not see him in any in this off season ( propably not gonna happen but well...). He should focus on regenerating his body after this season and consistently prepare for another one. I don't like that he is burning out his talent in ice shows while he has a lot to achieve in competition. He will have a loooot time after he will retire to do billion ice shows. But it's just my opinion

I know it's planned from April 16 to 19, but when do the practices/repetitions exactly start? Yuzu is currently in Japan, right?

As far as I have checked, all Japanese skaters be it senior or junior or even good novice all have ice shows in the schedule. Yuzuru is the only one who hasn't been confirmed in any cast. I guess he will not take part in any ice show in April after WTT, as we all know he needs second (minor) surgery. But in May and June no information either. If doctor says no, I guess he will stay idle in May as well.

His surgery is a minor one isn't it? I think he'll start doing shows in May but I don't think he'll do as many as last year.

I saw this post at FSU by rosewood that includes a rough summary of a popularity survey on TV personalities that is done twice a year by the research company Video Research Ltd called the "likeability survey".
Mao Asada and Haruka Ayase (actress) shared the first place and Mao won the title three times in a row.
At the men's category Yuzuru placed 13th, and the first place went to Kei Nishikori (pro tennis player) who jumped up from 74th last year.

I heard that those 50-60 ice shows just happened in 2011 when he had lost his own rink and had to do charity shows while practicing. Last year, he did 20-30 shows maximum.

I really don't want him to do any ice shows truthfully. I'd rather that after he's recovered from his second minor surgery he gets himself on a plane bound for Toronto, Canada and stays there training until the new season starts. But I know that'll never happen
