Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Yuzu when he was asked about how to deal with the" mountain of POOH". Photos by Yumi.

"At last Yuzu answered in Japanese, he has donated those toys to preschool at Sendai. He hoped to do the similar donation in Shanghai. It is said he only took away all the cards and letters attached in the bears and left the toys in China." by Echo Cheng

"He was actually answering in Japanese. He had been very focused on his performances, so probably he had never thought about what to do with hundreds of poohs he received during the WC till this question was asked. I guess that he was struggling to come up with a good answer which wouldn't disappoint his fans who threw the poohs on the rink after his performances. This shows how much he cares about his fans and his appreciation towards them. He just wanted to do right things for them, therefore he wanted to give a right answer. Haha, Yuzu is cute. Thank you for the photos!!" by Shuko Doyle

"When I was listening to Yuzu's answer, I noticed that Yuzu called Winnie-the-Pooh just 'Winnie' (not Pooh, Pooh-san, or Winnie the Pooh, but he called him WINNIE!!!) Haha they must have a very special relationship!!!" by Shuko Doyle

From what I've read he insisted on being called Yuzuki while in his girl outfit  alter ego?

Oh my! That's cute! Do you think you can find the location where you've read this for us? Sounds interesting! He even made a name for his 'girl outfit'~

I read about that as well. The host introduced him by saying he is Yuzuki. And probably because the host didn't appropriately pronounce the name, he corrected several times how to pronounce Yuzuki.

is it me or brian was even thinner than yuzuru is?? and how will yuzuru look like when he is at brian's age?

Thanks for the link. I forgot just how good BOrser was. He would have 2 Olympic Golds except for Compulsory Figures, which have since been eliminated.

I wonder if there's a link to it because now you've mentioned it, I think I have seen that video where yuzu was introduced as yuzuki!! But I can't seem to find it back now :(

This is probably a question for the Yuzu media thread but is there a CBC clip of his 2013 GPF skates?

Just some information about the topic in previous pages.

Yuzuru was no doubt the most popular figure skater in Shanghai. Every time he appeared, whether it was on the rink or on the big screen, there would be scream and applause. As far as I know, many figure skating fans went to the worlds from all around China and even some Chinese people living overseas went back to China to see him competing. He has some relatively big fan clubs in China. They translate his videos from Japanese, English or other languages like Spanish and Italian into Chinese and put them on the Internet for other fans. And during the worlds, right before the men sp, I saw many girls with the Pooh in the subway which was so much fun. This time during the worlds the fan clubs sent out small gifts like you saw in the video to fans from all over the country as well as Japanese fans. Also in return some Japanese fans gave small gifts about Yuzuru to Chinese fans. I think the reason why he is so popular in East Asian countries is that his looks is better appreciated by East Asians, also he has such good manners and he went over so many difficult times with courage. Of course the most important thing is, he is such a talented, technically strong, elegant, hard-working and dedicated figure skater and he is still improving (well I hope this is not too much but I can't help it:o:).

And don't forget there were many Chinese fans who witnessed the long program in COC last year. I was so impressed with it just seeing it on the Internet, so I can just imagine that those fans loved him even more and many people became new fans of him because of that performance.

Another good thing is that many fans are not just being "his fans", instead they get to know more and more about the sports itself, the tricky rules and other skaters. Also many people try to skate on the real ice for the first time because of the love for Yuzuru and figure skating, which is a great thing because figure skating is not that popular in China as in Japan or US.

So, he is really a great kid that has done a lot with his skating. And he is very loved in China and I believe the same in many other countries.
