Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I really don't want him to do any ice shows truthfully. I'd rather that after he's recovered from his second minor surgery he gets himself on a plane bound for Toronto, Canada and stays there training until the new season starts. But I know that'll never happen😔. He'll probably do a least 20 ice shows again😣

I think he really likes doing ice shows and it's always great to see him playing around with other skaters:) Couple of shows won't be a problem and I'm sure he'll get respectable payment for them ;)

Completed agree padme21! I'd be happy if he skipped all shows this off-season, and spent the time getting back into shape. Part of growing up means saying NO, and understanding the benefit/risk.

I might be eating my own words soon, but I think there is no way he will do zero shows this summer. I think we should stop thinking about ice shows as absolute evil, because yes, too much is not good, but I think he enjoys it; it keeps him motivated seeing other skaters trying out new things; and it is a great vehicle to test out new programs in front of an audience too. I do think the time taken up by doing CM could be less...we only see a few seconds of each shot, but in reality they probably took multiple takes and took a lot more time.

I don't get why coaching time all of sudden a concern either. If you've read excerpts of "Team Brian" (many kind people have posted translations all over the net, sorry I don't have any saved), I think you'd get a better idea how it works and how well it works!

Edit to add this newest interview with Orser after the Worlds when he and Tracy gave a workshop to young skaters in China. It's originally in Chineseand translated into Japanese. For those of you who can read these.

Late to the party but just wanted to say good job on your silver at WC Yuzuru  Considering the circumstances, that was a great fight you put out there and that Silver is a Gold in my books

Part of growing up is learning how to pick your battles. Take it easy this summer and make sure you don't burn out. You've only got 3 more seasons to go till you reach the finish line, make it count and leave no regrets. ;)

Actually, I don't really know Japanese, so I didn't know what they're saying, but from what they showed us on the video, it seems that they're talking about how popular Yuzu is in china. The cards are fan-made and apparently, the pictures and the names of elements are not directly related in the cards, so you don't have to be confused. It seems that it's designed this way in the first place! I loved the little fans with yuzu on it though~ they're cute!

Hahahha yes chibi yuzu is cute. I wonder where it came from in the first place :O

I don't he'll skip all the ice shows (although I hope he will), Yuzuru probably will skate at a few shows and then train the rest of the time, fingers crossed. I wish his events in Japan would be minimal this summer because he can rest, train and catch up with the other cricket club members in Canada.

Fanart maybe? I want this chibi yuzus too! Too bad I can't go to shanghai, since you can only get it when you're there :(

Haha yes it is definitely fanart! I just wonder who came up with it in the first place. It must have been relatively recent... (I don't remember seeing it last year, at least)

There are some chibi yuzuru products that can be bought online though. :) e.g. this, and I have also seen some things on redbubble

is it me or brian was even thinner than yuzuru is?? and how will yuzuru look like when he is at brian's age?

Wow, Brian's jumps looked SO wild back then! Men's figure skating as really progressed a lot in terms of technical difficulty... :O It's impressive that Brian put his second 3A so late into that program though. Well Brian was skinny, but I feel like Yuzu is more 'noodly' than him, and will probably be skinny for the rest of his life... There are many Asian men with such a body type and they stay skinny.

Actually I went there and found that those chibi yuzu fans are designed by Chinese fans themselves and then distributed them to the audience who support yuzu. They are for free and so cute!
