Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

You're right! It is a Flip! I still have a very hard time telling the Flip and the Lutz apart so I cheated and checked the video of his performance

So did I. I was not quite sure, so I checked the video, confriming the audience in the back

And I noticed that I had almost forgotten that Yuzuru changed the layout of this program from SA 2012  It was 3A in SA.

That's true, I didn't notice that either (regardless of how much I like watching the SA SP, my mind kind of blocked that FS because of how sad/frustrated he looked afterwards). Could be to get the Flip out of the way while he was still fresh as he fell quite badly on it there, besides from getting the 10% bonus with a higher valued jump. Whatever it was, those changes worked very well from the very first performance which was NHK, seems like the quad-quad-3F order works very well for him

I think Yuzu is unbeatable as long as he is healthy.
Agree. It's not because I am a fan, or because I have any bias towards any skater (since I am also fan of some), but when Yuzuru is healthy in both his body and mind, no one can have better quality overall.

Patrick, Kozuka or Jeremy can have better skating skill but we all know Yuzuru jumps much better with beautiful air positions, beautiful landing and flow and spin. Javi can have better 4S but about the rest Yuzuru is better. And Yuzuru is still improving.

Any other skater can have good consistency but when Yuzuru is on, I have no doubt Yuzuru skate faster and jump better than all. They calculated top skaters' speed at Skate Canada 2013 and concluded that Yuzuru and Patrick are on different level in speed.

One thing why youngs skaters are often more consistent is that, they haven't tried the crazy layout of top men. Let them do 2 and 3 quads in a LP with two 3A and Two 3lutz, consistency says goodbye. And I am no kidding. Tell Elena Radionova to jump 3A, and we'll see it right away.

I have watched FS ever since Kwan, and I evan watched all the juniors these recent years, I have no doubt that we have never seen any young skater with jumping quality as Yuzuru when he was 15 (or Plushenko, but the man was from different era). Yuzuru at the age of 15 jumped better than all men at the age of 17. And we also have never seen any 17 year old skater with crazy quality in all aspects like Yuzuru.

Some can try any crazy layout, but their quality in jumps and spins and steps will never as beautiful as Yuzuru, not to mention Yuzuru always has the hardest layout. Just image Yuna Kim with Mao Asada jump layout. I have no doubt that, the only think we could hope is for Yuzuru to be as healthy as possible.

I take off my hat to you, Meoima.
You said it all perfectly.
Yes, Yuzu was gifted an exceptional talent, we should thank Plushenko that he inspired Yuzu that much to not give up skating and be a baseball player.
My dream is Yuzu being two time Olympic champion, but also being first to land quad loop in competition.

Poice, thank you very much! He is my favorite commentator, I feel exactly the same.
My fav. moment with him is when lady was saying-some people prefer other skaters, and he was like "Who are they? Show me them"
He is the best, really.

During CoC he said that he adores Yuzuru and wants to join his fanclub xD They were showing Yuzu's fans and he was like: ,,I want to sit there too" :D

I have only watched the polish eurosports commentate on 2 competitions that Yuzu participated in, and both times they claim him as the greatest skater of all time. Yuzu just has that effect on any commentator!

If anyone is interested - I uploaded "highlights version" from Polish Eurosport of Yuzu's SP from Worlds.

"Yuzu is beatable or not?" has been my question. I'm glad I can hear your guys opinions about it.
IMHO, if he is on, no one can beat him.:)

Thank you! Thank you for your hard work! Polish Eurosport just join the legions of my favourite commentator beside British Eurosport and Spanish. They simply adore him. :yay: and for good reasons. I especially love the part when they said Yuzuru skated as if bringing us along with his piano performance stepping on every single note with grace and musicality.

Well said Meoimia! and yes seriously bias aside Yuzuru really is a class of his own.

And I remember he said something like people who says they like other skaters more knows nothing about the sport, lols! They truly love yuzu a lot!

I have tried to do a basic update of Yuzuru's OP. A complete listing of media about him is in the currently 14 page Media thread. There is now a link to this thread in the OP.

Please take a look and tll me if there are important things that you would like to see included that I have omitted?

Thank you for your hard work! More will come in May I expect :D
