Ladies rarely ever wear green! I feel like I've read somewhere it's supposedly "unlucky"?

Anyway, Joshi is painfully slow, but she's so much fun to watch! One of the few skaters who doesn't bother me when her hair is in a ponytail.

Why is green unpopular?

The superstition is that green is "bad luck", and I think it comes from the theatre world, where actors are afraid to wear green or, in some countries, purple, because it brings bad luck.

It's interesting to notice that this superstition dates back to the Middle Ages, when green was associated with wilderness (think of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight). Fairies, hunters (and poachers) outlaws (i.e. Robin Hood), all people related to the woods wore green. If people wore green on Fridays (the day of the Passion of Christ) they would have upset the fairies, who are excluded from eternal life.

As for purple (the "bad luck in theatre" colour in Italy), it is associated with Christ and His Passion as a liturgical colour, so I guess that people should not wear it in a secular context as it is the theatre.

Sorry for the long explanation, but I happen to be fascinated by this sort of facts.
