2015 Finlandia Trophy Ice Dance SD and FD

Well, there was that unfortunate fall, but with some improvement it could be a beautiful program. Still, overall it's their usual lyrical style. And, yes, they were quite slow again.

I've just jumped in to watch the last FD group. Does it seem to anyone else that the Israelis skated slowly? And if so, how did they get such high scores in the SD?

I'll look at SD videos later, but anyone have a comment?

Yeah they were slower than many. Was really surprised when the score was announced.

That program is GORGEOUS. If they're able to work out the kinks and get more mileage on it, it'll be a masterpiece.

I still think they'll be able to pass up H/D by Nationals, depending on how the GPs go.

What I liked was the beautiful choreo and how well Jean-Luc portrayed it, as well as how sudden the twizzles seem to be. But they have A LOT to work on unfortunately, and I can see them being passed by for 4CC/Worlds if they do not fix it soon.

But why make it so demanding it's just their second season as seniors. How will they be able to compete it? Igor is a genius.

Ouch! A hard fall, but glad he didn't drop her. I worry a little about the fact Kaitlyn and Jean-Luc are so close in size. But overall, I love the program and I love this couple. I'd like to see them move up in rankings this year.

I mean the thing is H/D scored A LOT higher than them at their first competition though, and they've had weeks since then during which I highly doubt they've been sitting on their beds marathoning LOST episodes or something. H/B are going to have less time to improve things before their first competition, have a lot more TO improve, and momentum is not with them now. It's going to be rough, and I say this as a BIG H/D fan.

No one has to pass them. It's more like Hubbell/Donohue could keep their third spot.

They made it to 4CC last year so that's the minimum I would expect from them! And honestly, I was hoping for more growth. They can't stay 'the new seniors' forever Especially with talented junior teams like the Parsons and M/C waiting for their turn.

That one. Again, HUGE fan, but this is concerning, even with it being early in the season.

I like the FD... I think that Andrew occasionally has made mistakes on twizzles before.

Andrew has always struggled with the twizzles, it's just that they had it under more control in the past.

That effortless lift out of nowhere at the end of the program was really great but I'm not sure about the program overall. It reminds me of their last year FD a lot. Weaver-Poje could do an uplifting FD for a change.

I did also greatly enjoy that one lift.

I'm not the biggest W/P fans (prefer P/C) but I loooooooved this program! Super edgy and kind of classical at the same time. The music is stunning and they perform the choreography very well--though I think the choreo could be more interesting overall.

Twizzles have not been this team's friend in the past.

After all the hype of W/P and H/B I am just underwhelmed by both teams.
