2015 Finlandia Trophy Ladies SP and FS

I wonder if she will recover with Tutberidze. It looks like she need more experienced coach, who could manage with physical changes and Yulias mind.
I like the idea of the free program but - jumps has never been strong point of her. I agree that she needs learning them anew. The is taller and her shape is more woman-like. It means changed center of gravity. Another problem is that after the program her behaviour was impolite - I understand that she was angry and frustrated but she is mature enough to be nice to the girls delivering her flowers and toys. Last year already I was afraid that Eteri lacks wisdom of Mishin who supported Tuktamysheva and shepherded her by the difficult period of growing up and maturation. Sorry as she has been such a talent.

Having Mishin as a coach didn't mean that everything went smoothly for Liza. She had a hard time for quite awhile as well. And Eteri is supporting her...what exactly do you think she isn't doing?

I don't know much about Eteri's coaching style or what she's best at, but is she excellent at teaching solid jump technique or reworking it? (Obviously Mishin is the best at jump technique, but I'm wondering how Eteri compares, because that's really what Yulia needs.) I'm also concerned about how tired she seemed.

I’ am sure someone has already said this, but I don’t understand some commentators here who think that Yulia does not have the right to express her emotions. She is not a robot. Feeling angry is a common human emotion, and I’am sure she was not angry at the fans, but at herself for the mistakes she’s done. Everyone who’s a true fan knows that she is a perfectionist, and is really hard on herself. She can laugh, smile, cry, act annoyed, and be angry whenever she feels like it. Get over it and stop trying to make a big deal out of nothing. :rolleye::disapp:

I wonder, where has Julia's 3Lo gone? Anybody knows her state of this jump?

I've read over the internet that it was not in her planned elements sheet. But they also said she might change the overall jumps layout during the season and 3Lo might be actually back.

Rika Hongo has taken every opportunity given and has run with it. For me is bittersweet beacause as her star rises, I see one of my favorites fading Kanako Murakami. Anything can happened, but as of right know she is not even in top 3 Japanese lady.

I am happy for Rika

I wonder how much Kanako sabotaged herself by declaring she wanted to retire immediately after Sochi, and then maybe just 1 more year... it might have some affect on her ranking perception within the federations. Federation probably want to build up skaters that has longer milege. I find her PCS deflation last year really puzzling relative to her team mates. She is better than the PCS she has been given.

"My Mom was watching a few skaters with me including Yulia and Rika. She was surprised with the different attitude towards flower and toys girls from Yulia and Rika (and also from Serghey and Ryuju Hino). Like- why didn't Yulia at least thank those girls or bow at least one time, give them a smile. That is really not good from PR point of view. I think it's the attitude problem and somebody should teach Yulia to act different because it's daunting to her image. People love her so much and it is really not that much to thank everyone with a smile, and then get bored and pissed off because the skate wasn't really that awesome.
It does not mean that I don't like her or anything- but this kind of behaviour should disappear as long as she's on public. She really needs that from the sponsorship point of view too. Nice and polite, no matter what. If she's a huge fan of Mr. Hanyu- that's something she could learn from him."

I agree.

But Russian and Japanese are completely different in their attitude toward people around. Different cultures. I don't even expect them to act similarly.

Being polite in public is a common policy, it is not attributed to cultural differences.;)

To Fans who are advocating Julia's action

Then do you think the flower girls deserved to face rudeness from a person they didn't know at all physically? Just curious... I do agree that Julia is a human being and have a right to express her feeling. But, at same time, Julia is clearly a celebrity in figure skating world and she certainly has an obligation to keep her manners to other people especially at a public place... This is not the first time she've acted like this either :p Hope she show some manners disregarding her performance. I am not asking for "genuine smiles" like Gracie Gold and Ashley Wagner do. Julia is not that young either in skating world... Being "sad or disappointed" and "childish" are completely different by the way

Agree. But she is not helping her case, she stared the season by not medaling at the US Classic, and her compatriot won the event.

Yes, exactly! No, Yulia is not obliged to smile or thank anyone after her performance. And it appears some of you don't think it's fair that a performer/athlete would have to do that after a crappy performance (b/c let's face it, figure skating is just as much performance arts as it is athletics, in my opinion). But it makes them look bad. Is it fair? No, probably not. But I think everyone should know there is a proper, gracious, adult way to act, and a childish way to act. My hope is that Yulia will learn this lesson. I'm surprised if her coach hasn't already talked to her about it. Btw, I can tell when a skater is disappointed with their performance. Even skaters like Mao, Elena R, Gracie, Ashley - I can see it written all over their faces when they didn't perform up to their standards. Yet, they still manage to acknowledge the audience and not look completely pissed off like they want to just storm off the ice.

Also, one of the posters previously mentioned no one would ever criticize a male skater about behaving like a poor sport after a poor performance. I can think of several who have bad reputations for that very reason. Jeremy Abbott? I love watching his skating as well, but when he has bad day on ice, yeesh, I can't bring myself to feel sorry for him.

What exactly did Yulia do to the flower girls, anyway?

Btw, whoever said that Rika reminds them of Elena Radionova :agree:. Neither of them are very refined or sophisticated and both of them really, really need to work on their posture, but they are both very consistent ladies who know how to sell the heck out of a performance!

Yes, also her jumps are pretty much gone, she can't rotate most of them to save her life. I like Kanako, but there is no point denying the truth. I honestly think this would be a good time for her to retire.

I agree with you as well. Just, some people don't care for what the others consider common sense and I personally don't expect anything from them.

She dumped her flowers and gifts from audience to the sofa, and kind of acted rude to the flower girls.
