This is a "fan" thread right?![]()
would imagine it wasn't easy at all especially after her very very unfortunate head injury...
We, skating fans really look forward to seeing how their programs this season are going to mature/progress with time.I suggest to give them the benefit of the doubt. We just don't know how judges will react. No one would have bet on them last year.
I think they can improve until Euros.
And please, how can we blame them in taking no risk, she just had a concussion by falling on a Choctaw, understandable that they have some reluctance in throwing her almost above his head ala Chock/Bates, and that they are cautious in everything. It will come back with time.
But what are the elements that they should "get back"? I think we saw already last season and before that that they are not the kind of team that goes for acrobatic lifts (like Chock/Bates). Their lifts were not particularly "difficult" (at least not in the way that many people here consider difficult), they were beautiful, very well executed, perfectly weaved into the choreography and accentuating the music wonderfully. And no one seemed to mind, with very rare exceptions. I saw very, very few complaints that their lifts were not difficult enough. As for other elements, their twizzles actually seem to be more synchronous than last season, and their spin is the same (that is, good). As for steps, I am not an expert on that, but if they are not quite perfect and not always as fast as they have been before, I think it's completely normal for the first competition of the season.Yes X 1,000,000! Considering how delicate recovering from concussions can be, I don't know why some aren't more understanding that they are being careful getting back their elements.

Here is a link to a video with the music and the skating recorded at the same time (and not the music put over the video from FFSF).

Thank you for the link! Does anyone else think the costumes in the FD essentially reflect the blue and red of the French flag but in different tones against the white ice. So it reflects "Building a Home" in Toronto but still being French? Or I might be overthinking this!
I just reminded myself that next year's pattern is the Midnight Blues and it can be mixed with either Swing or Hip Hop.
I took those Instagram videos with Sam Chouinard as just exercise / fun / random dance exploration. It suddenly occurred to me though: could it have been more serious exploration for the SD next year?
Hmm...
Gabriella and Guillaume are in the top ten of the "Athletes of the Year" by Eurosport France. A very cool achievement considering the poor popularity/exposure of figure skating in France

I mean how many sportsmen jump out of junior to storm euro and world champions. But that's my fan side talking.
I'd have ranked them No. 1 on the grounds of their age and their meteoric rise to the top in 1 season.
