2015-16 State of U.S. Men's Figure Skating

:confused2: If Nathan out-skates enough of the senior men at Nationals, why shouldn't he go to Senior Worlds? Winning the Junior Worlds title will probably give him some more prestige than whatever he could place at Senior Worlds, but I want the US to send whoever has the best shot of keeping 3 spots for the senior men. The international men's field is SO DEEP right now, more competitive than last year, and the US only just kept those 3 spots.

I think Max can help out (as his SA performances prove), possibly Adam (his GP performances weren't disasters, but he's not the most reliable), sadly Jason and Josh are currently question marks due to injuries so we'll have to see what form they're in at Nationals, and then there's the possibility of dark horses like Grant Hochstein, Ross Miner, etc.

USFS shouldn't inflate Nathan's scores at Nationals to get him into the top 3, but if he seems more ready to do well at Worlds than the others based on Nationals performances, I think we should send him. He's also been fairly consistent this season, so we'd have no reason to believe a good Nationals performance is just a fluke.

I feel like Nationals this year is Max's for the taking if he skates relatively clean. And I want to see any of Jason/Josh :luv17:/Adam join him at Worlds if they look like they're ready to compete (Adam isn't injured but he's also inconsistent, so that's why I put him in the "uncertain" category). I love them all so much and I would prefer to see any of them at Worlds over Nathan, because we'd still get to see Nathan at Junior Worlds! But USFS shouldn't send them over Nathan if he outperforms them at Nationals.

Maybe Nathan can go to both senior and junior worlds? Seguin & Bilideau did that last season and Nam did it the season before. Nathan and Max are essentially the only two US men right now with consistent quads (well, Hochstein's is getting better, but I'd still say Nathan's is more consistent), so I can see USFS wanting to have Nathan on the senior world team if he skates well at Nationals. Especially because Brown might still be dealing with injury by then and Farris will most likely not compete. So the way I see it, Worlds team is most likely Max, Nathan, and Jason (if he's healthy) or Adam (if Jason's not healthy). But as long as Max makes the team, Nathan might just go to JW and Jason and Adam (or possibly Grant, Ross, Richard, Tim - but I doubt it).

I think operative words for any of these men are "if (he) skates relatively clean!" If they all skate clean then decisions will have to be made. If it's a splat fest than all bets are off.

Oh...a worlds team...? who do I want to see now...?

Max.

Just...Max.

I would be okay with Ross, and Ricky, or Timothy. Or Adam I suppose. But...to see Max skate healthy and strong...at this point, that will be enough for me. :sad46: :sad46:

yassss.

With Jason and Josh out, I think the World team will be Max, Adam and possibly Nathan if USFS sends him to Sr Worlds and possibly Jr Worlds. Or if they decide to just send Nathan to Jr Worlds, whomever is 4th (Grant, Ross?).

Would be cool if they sent Ross since he trains there. Should be interesting either way!

The US has been a skating power nation for decades and they seem to give their faves a good send off to worlds. I think Max has the goods and now some breathing room to win it all and comfortably. While I know there are huge Ross, Ricky, Grant and Nathan fans I think the one who has it all if he can put it together is Adam Rippon. Though he is hugely inconsistent or rather consistently not reaching his full potential he could surprise Max. But watch Max's pcs soar - want to make a bet? Without Jason in particular that is my prediction - Max's pcs will grow more than exponentially but in gigantic leaps and bounds that will redefine perhaps nationalism or national bias.

:rolleye:

Getting in early, are we?

It would take a lot to redefine national bias after this Nationals season has already given us a 100+ point SP with a fall.

But look who scored 100 - the it boy himself:) Judges just love him and have even in the past been super generous nationally and internationally. People whine about Canada and Russia but if you look historically well especially in the 6.0 days - US nationals gave out 6.0's like real estate agents give out free pads of paper! But the state of Amercan men is ripe for this right now with our golden boy Brown out of it - for now (he will fight back).

I will get in an early wager - I will bet that of the top four, no matter the order they finish in - yes, even if Max wins - Max will have the lowest PCS boost. Nathan or Adam will have the highest.

I still say - there are no "for sures" in Nationals this year. I would really like to see Adam skate clean with confidence and power. Actually I would like to see all of the so-called top men skate clean just to see where it's all going to fall out. I think with Jason out the pressure on the other men is pretty high. Not that Jason would have been a shoo-in, but just having one less top man to deal with puts added pressure on the other competitors.

So glad I'm going to Worlds this year.

And the result is absolutely correct. A fall is not a big deal, at least not that big as you and people like you would like it.
But why do i care about haters, you´re not worth my time. #HatersGonnaHate

Throwing shade? Interesting, bc it´s pretty obvious how super generous the judges are to Fernandez, for many years now.

When he finally gets it, though, it's really pretty for such a little kid.

It is, adorable baby Axel. I tell you what though, I've done those falls in the style of the third one (though not off an Axel) and they really hurt. No wonder it's better to start when you're little; they bounce straight back up!
